Is it worth sending an update or LOI post-interview, or should I wait for decisions to come out?

LOI are best utilized for when your on the waitlist. Don’t think a LOI pre-decision would make any real difference. An significant update like a co-authored paper that’s been published would probably be useful.

Thanks for the advice! I’ll wait more patiently in that case lol

Has anyone applied to the MD/TEACH-MS program? I assume those interviews are held with the other MD interviews, right?

The pathway interviews aren't till after MD admittance I believe those are generally over Skype starting in spring of next year.

Is your signature correct? You applied to 13 schools but only submitted 4 secondaries? Presuming that you did submit all secondaries, you would only have 11 schools remaining after potentially being screened out of UCSF and UCD? Seems a bit risky. I think that 30-40 would have been the better range but others might disagree. Even for high stat applicants 20-25 should be the minimum

My husband is an internal medicine resident in Stanford , and I currently live in Houston, so I'm trying to get up there to live closer to him. If I don't get in anywhere in northern California, I'll probably just cut my losses and try again next year...not really interested in living in a different state from him for the next 4 years.

I applied TEACH-MS. No II (yet?). Complete email 7/30, but last LOR didn't come in until 8/12. My understanding is the same as above--primary interviews with regular MD applicants, then pathway-specific interviews later.

Anyone else got left in a limbo by the host program for the upcoming interview?

I was lol I just took the L and got a hotel.
Sorry to hear that! I thought it was completely unprofessional of the medical students in charge of the host program to not deliver the news of your host-match when they explicitly told us in the email they would.

I emailed them 2 days before too just in case to ask them. That’s when they told me they couldn’t do it. Thankfully there are plenty of hotels right next to the campus so I was able to quickly find one.

I thought davis doesn't accept any updates, lois, etc. I think thank you notes only (but they don't factor them).

Admission decisions will be based upon the information contained in the application materials at the time of review. The Admissions Committee does not accept updates from applicants including activities additions/updates, additional letters of recommendation, etc. Note: Substantial changes such as citizenship status or recipient of a nationally recognized award may be review and considered by the admissions committee on a case-by-case basis.

Complete since 7/15 and haven’t heard anything since lol. Anyone know if they do silent rejections or just delay their R’s oooor is no news = good news?

Does anyone know if they release admissions decisions on/after October 15th or they make you wait longer?

Looking at past threads, it seems Oct. 16 or 17th is when they start. I'd guess Wednesday to Friday next week will be a couple As.

Thank you. These last days before Oct 15th feel like a century. I wonder if they issue decisions chronologically or randomly.

Random based on sdn i'd say. Interview date didn't seem to matter.

EDIT: I'll add, based on the other thread, you are more likely to be waitlisted or R'ed if you don't hear back next week and interviewed in August or September.

EDIT 2: A bunch of the class comes from the waitlist tho.

I share the sentiment. Davis was my very first interview this cycle and it was so amazing. I don’t know why time goes especially slow as we approach October 15th.

Waiting for an II....does Davis accept letter of rec updates? I’ve been working with a MD who went to Davis med school and wrote a the letter of Rec for me. But after working with her for several months, she would write an even stronger letter for me. I kinda doubt they allow this. Just hoping!!! Thanks.

Nope, check the FAQ section of the secondary portal. They only do case-by-case updates for life-altering things like citizenship changes or winning the medal of honor or something.

What dates are they currently interviewing at? Up to what month? Thanks

decisions come out tmmrw? does anybody know if its a call or portal change?

That's not what I wanted to hear 🙁
I'm sorry if I hurt your feelings, but I was just trying to answer the question posted to the best of my knowledge. UCD is known for silent rejections, so despite what some others have said, not hearing anything from these types of schools after an extended period of time is not a good sign. I'm just trying to be realistic; no news may = R at some schools who do silent rejections (for example I think emory or geisel flat out says that they will not be giving out any R, so everyone is left in the dark = silent R).

The UC’s in general are known for their slow and drawn out admissions cycles. I would stay hopeful since the interview season extends for another several months!
