2019-2020 UNC - Chapel Hill

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
Where my fellow people at praying ECU accepts you since UNC’s median MCAT is about 7 points higher??

Isn’t their average matriculants MCAT 512? Unless my info is outdated.... AND you could also be a great well rounded applicant with stellar experiences and get accepted! Stay positive, we are all more than our numbers!

I wonder if ending interviews earlier than previous years means earlier decisions or just that they’re trying to get a better understanding of what their class will look like as a whole sooner than later. Thoughts?

Has anyone else not received an II or R yet? I'm assuming I'm rejected at this point but weird that I haven't received any sort of correspondence since submitting my secondary.

Also just got the still under consideration email! Guess that is a good sign?

I have not received any email from UNC since submitting my secondary in July, not even the "still under consideration" - anyone in this position?

Would it be a bad idea to call at this point? I'm expecting it to be a rejection, but I would like some feedback at least

I emailed them today asking for my status but maybe I should have called, if you do would you reply back please! I’ll do likewise

What is the interview process here like exactly? Are they done before/after the tour and info session? And how long is the traditional?

I'm interviewing here Friday and I want all the info I can get beforehand lol.

For us it was info session first, then you get divided into 3 groups and rotate between a meet and greet type thing with Med students, MMI, and Traditional interview which lasts about 30 min give or take. Then there’s lunch and a very small tour after which we’re done!

I got accepted this morning. My first acceptance. I truly can't believe it. Thank you to everyone in my life. I got an email saying my decision was available at 6:17 am so I was totally thinking that was an R or a waitlist. But here we are, I made it. 🙂
Congrats!! I’m happy for you!

CONGRATS FUTURE DOC! You must be so thrilled! Do you mind saying when you interviewed?

Do they send all the acceptances at once or is it more like a staggered thing? Also, I'm curious if everyone who has been interviewed up to this point was considered for this round of acceptances (I interviewed in mid December).

I’m curious as well, wish we could have some more details about the process so I can mental prepared to be let down lol

Got excited because it’s Monday AKA admissions committee meeting day but then realized it’s a holiday (a very important one) and we likely have to wait a week for more decisions. Patience is a virtue right???

Someone recommended I call to say that i really want to go to their school. Would this be taken as a letter of intent? I don't want to break school policy but also plz take me

I don’t think you’d be breaking policy by calling but I also don’t think it would really benefit you tbh. They know if we applied and haven’t withdrawn our app that we’re still interested in attending. Just got to hang in there and wait for some news!

I don't think it's wise tbh. They don't want emails of update or interest, so they likely wouldn't take kindly to calls either. Just gotta play the waiting game 🙁

Personally I would refrain from contacting the admissions office, especially after their “under consideration” update email. I took that as “yes we know you haven’t heard from us but we need more time”.
