66.6-75% is totally fine. ADCOMs hate reading fluff as much as we hate writing it.What is the general view on hitting word limits? Would it be foolish to submit something less than 400 words

so how deep are we going in about this speeding ticket?
lol, that secondary has definitely kept me at the speed limit for the past couple months.
Hahah right, I mean they say within the past 5 years and I got one like 2 years ago. I mean they don’t tell you what to describe so can I withhold the actual speed?
What's this question exactly asking?
Wow I have a speeding ticket I guess I'm wildly irresponsible haha
Guessing nobody has heard from UVM yet... Don't they start conducting interviews in August?!
its only August 2nd, and i dont think so.
Schools do things different every year!!I just checked last year's thread, and they started sending II's in July and interviewing in August for the 2018-2019 cycle.
thanks everyone for the laughs haha
Bless you all 😀
How strict are they with the LOR requirements? I. D.o.n.t have a non-science professor LOR! 🙁

Per the admissions website, you can email and request a waiver for LOR requirements. That's what I did, and it was granted. I don't know how compelling the reason has to be, but it's possible. How strict are they with the LOR requirements? I. D.o.n.t have a non-science professor LOR! 🙁
YesOur CASPer score must be in to be reviewed, right?
Thank you 🙂 I have a special connection to Larner which is why I'm applyingThanks! Also, congrats on those amazing stats!! Lol you know you'll likely get yield protected from schools like Vermont, right?
all my other schools received my rec letters ~2 weeks ago but here they say "not received". Anyone else in this situation? Also, does anyone know if it'd be better to contact uvm admissions or aamc about this? thanks!
I sent my CASPER scores in, but they’re still not received. Has anyone else experienced this? Also my letters aren’t showing either tho they were in since June :/
In the FAQ of the secondary they gave an example format:
Age1 - Age2 Location1 Population Size
Age2 - Age3 Location2 Population Size
not a big deal if you didnt do that though.
It's on the secondary portal. Can you post the link to this FAQ? I'm curious what else was mentioned in there.
Anyone willing to share (without detail of course) their idea for UVM's diversity essay? I'm not trying to steal anything but hoping to jog my memory on a situation that would be a good fit for this prompt. I think I need to think outside the box more rather than focusing on others who are culturally different.
Do y’all think It’s too outside the box to discuss lessons learned from a grandfather who was battling a progressive illness for much of my childhood?
Part of two groups unlike me (elderly, chronic illness)

I applied in July last year and didn’t interview until January, so it can take time! UVM was actually my very last interview-Guessing nobody has heard from UVM yet... Don't they start conducting interviews in August?!
No response from adcoms is driving me nuts. I see you got 4 acceptances. I have the same stats as you hopefully will get into atleast 1.I applied in July last year and didn’t interview until January, so it can take time! UVM was actually my very last interview-
If there is ANYTHING I have learned about this process is that comparing your success to someone else purely on stats is a non-starter. There is so much that goes into it. The process is so holistic especially at mid-tier schools like vermont. No response from adcoms is driving me nuts. I see you got 4 acceptances. They don’t send complete emails.Anyone else not receive a complete email? Submitted 7/10 still no complete email.
That’s good to know. Thank you!!They don’t send complete emails.
Probably fine but if you have to ask the question? Maybe there is a better example? Please reflect on a difficult and challenging non-academic experience you have faced. Include a description of the stressful event, how you dealt with it and what you have learned about others and yourself through this process.
Is a research situation considered non-academic?
I respectfully disagree with the above poster. I think by specifying “non-academic” that means they want to see something personal you dealt with, they’re really trying to get a sense of who you are outside of your academic commitments, and giving a research example doesn’t really do that. I believe the adcoms pounced on someone for a similar idea in a thread a month or two ago, but I could be remembering it wrong. Just my two cents. Please reflect on a difficult and challenging non-academic experience you have faced. Include a description of the stressful event, how you dealt with it and what you have learned about others and yourself through this process.

I feel like we said the same thing just hahaha but i am too niceI respectfully disagree with the above poster. Edit: here’s the thread
Upon rereading it, yeah, you just said the same thing but nicer.I feel like we said the same thing just hahaha but i am too nice
I think if the essay is more about the stress of having a lot on your plate, the strain it put on relationships with loved ones, etc. that would be fine. I would just avoid talking about things within academia or research. Please reflect on a difficult and challenging non-academic experience you have faced. Yall think I can talk about academic, work and life balance in this prompt?
Thanks. I was iffy on it but Ill just focus on the non academic side of itI think if the essay is more about the stress of having a lot on your plate, the strain it put on relationships with loved ones, etc. that would be fine. I would just avoid talking about things within academia or research.
I requested and was granted a LOR waiver also.Per the admissions website, you can email and request a waiver for LOR requirements. That's what I did, and it was granted. I don't know how compelling the reason has to be, but it's possible.
Waiver for what?I requested and was granted a LOR waiver also.
They have specific letter of recommendation requirements but if you're nontrad or have another good reason they'll give you a waiver so you can be considered even without the specified letters. They were really chill about it for meWaiver for what?

If your school does not have an advisor or committee, you must provide three letters as follows:
- Two letters from professors in the sciences with whom you have taken classes, and
- One additional letter from a non-science professor with whom you have taken a class.
Correct. They're willing to waive these if you have a good reason and directly contact themAre you talking about these letters below? (Am wondering if they're unreasonable for nontrad like Penn State is where you're required to get a letter from every school attended and placed work.)

Have either of y'all figured out this issue? My CASPER and LOR are also appearing as incomplete even though I'm sure they are complete (they even note that they received my committee letter in "document status"). Going to email admissions if we've had no luck.
