Wait people who interviewed are already being rejected? I interviewed this week but thought there were no decisions post interview until December
Also wondering

IIRC Dr. Gooddell told us that they'll admit a few, reject a few, and put most people on a "hold" in December, and that March would be the deciding date for many interviewees.

No post-interview acceptances/waitlists until 10/15, per AAMC. But BU's policy is mid-December, not 10/15.
However, you can be rejected at any time.
I got rejected, but I knew my interview was pretty bad. Not gonna lie. My first of the cycle. I didn't know how to handle all those curveball questions

What sort of curveball questions? I thought the interview here was supposed to be pretty chill 😕

Mine was very chill. I mean there’s always a tough question or two but I just rolled with it and admitted when I was unfamiliar with a topic. My interview gave me feedback after saying it went really well so I assume it worked lol.

Pre-II R this morning. OOS. GPA 3.98. MCAT 510. First rejection of the season... good luck to y'all!
Thanks for the info and best of luck on all your other apps! Do you mind letting us know when you completed?

does anyone know what other schools except BU are sending Rs right now? Trying to mentally prepare myself

Got the delay email before and got an II via text/email this morning!!! High LM, in case anybody asks

When did you guys get the zoom link for your interview? I’m scheduled for early tomorrow morning and have yet to receive it. I’m wondering when I should reach out to the admissions office.

Also have not received it. Interview tomorrow.

I had my interview today. I got an email from admissions yesterday around 10 am. My interviewer reached out to me this morning (with a link) because she hadn't gotten a confirmation from admissions.

I might email just incase

Is the email saying they are delayed in reviewing my application good or bad news?

It just means they are a bit backed up with people who submitted earlier. Not a bad thing.

I'll preface this by saying Dean Goodell specifically told us to be honest with applicants about BU, including the things we don't like or need improvement, so I'll answer things as honestly as I can. But also, I only started here like 2 months ago so its possible my opinion will change as time goes on, and I'm sure there are other students that don't feel the same way I do

What's the environment like at BU?

In the (limited) time I've been here, it's been my experience that BU really does have and actively promotes a very collaborative and supportive environment, and I'll give a few examples for why I think so. Each module (classes are called modules here) has a student advising committee (SAC), which is a group of students that meets with the faculty and course directors at least once during that module and after to relay/discuss any student concerns there might be, suggestions from students on how the course could be improved, etc. In most cases, the concerns/suggestions are addressed/implemented by the school immediately as long as they're feasible. Similarly, students fill out pretty thorough evaluations after each module (we are actually required to fill out at least 80% of all the evaluations), which are used to improve the curriculum for the next year. Students can also be elected (by their peers) to committees like the medical education committee, pre-clerkship committee, electives committee, etc.. that meet with faculty/admin and have voting power on changes that are proposed to their respective focus areas. Other examples including having faculty/career advisors and peer-advising groups with multiple M2s/M3s/M4s, which have both been incredibly helpful to me. My classmates have also been really great and supportive in sharing resources in our group chat, checking in with each other during exam weeks, reminding each other when there's a quiz/assignment due, etc.

I could go on, but I didn't want to make this too long. But if you have other questions about this, lmk!

What led you to choose BU?

One of the biggest reasons I chose BU was its emphasis on public health, social justice, and serving vulnerable populations. I realize a lot of schools say these things are important to them, but they really are what BU is all about. These concepts are woven not only into our didactic curriculum (e.g. social determinants of health, advocacy, health disparities), but also into how we are taught clinical skills (e.g., trauma-informed approach to care, interview questions that go beyond just the medical issue). BMC's motto is "exceptional care without exception," and I think that very accurately sums up the attitude of both the faculty and students here

How significant is this voting power? In other words, is it like 2 students to 10 faculty or do faculty need student votes to get things through?

One thing that always struck me as super amazing about BU is how transparent they seem to be even from small things like having a section on the FAQ about reasons why NOT to choose BU. Correct me if I'm wrong, but I've never seen another medical school have that on full display. I really appreciate the Dean's messaging to you and I'm very grateful for your response!

That's a great question. To be honest, I'm not sure how many faculty are on each committee, but I do know that most committees have two reps from each year (like 2 M1s, 2 M2s, etc), with one being the primary and the other being the alternate. We're voting on ours this week I believe, so I can get back to you! In the meantime, you can find more info about the committees here.

As is the case with all things, there's always room for improvement, but I think BU does try to be as transparent as possible with students. There's the occasional communication breakdown, especially with so many things being up in the air with COVID, but at least up to this point they openly admit when they make a mistake and try to fix whatever students take issue with, which is encouraging 🙂

Thanks very much for the detailed reply!

I was complete on 8/5 and did not receive a delay email or rejection or ii. Anyone else who submitted around the same time in the same boat? Would it be weird to email BU about this lol

Just received the delay email :/ got super nervous when I saw the email at first!
