Does anyone know if they will be sending out any decisions during the next 2 weeks? I interviewed over 4 weeks ago and during my interview day I think they said we would hear back within 1-6 weeks. However, it seems like they are going on vacation for the next 2 weeks. So do you think the decisions won't come out for more than 6 weeks?
Thats my best guess, im in the same shoes. hopefully we hear back within two weeks after new years

Can any current students (probably second or third years since first years were online) speak about life/work-life balance at SKMC? In other words, do students *generally* enjoy their lives? Of course, medical school is a place to study and learn. But quality of life (and ability to engage in experiences that ultimately make you more well rounded/happier) is also very important in making a decision on where to go. Thanks!

I am not a student, just an accepted applicant, but I asked this at my interview. SKMC has a reputation for having by far the happiest students in Philly and some of the happiest nationally, too. It sounds like the curriculum and exam/quiz schedule is a major part of this.

I'm still waiting for an II but this makes me really want to send a LOI to SKMC lol (if I have updates to add, which I sadly don't yet) but its good to know.

As Tabby said, I've heard so many good things from students and other doctors familiar with Jeff who've said that they have some of the happiest students. Out of all my interviews, Jeff left the best impression on me. They had students with incredible personalities host the interview day and while talking to my student interviewer, she almost started tearing up when we talked about happiness and just life in general there. It's one of the biggest reasons for it being one of my top choices.

I just pulled up my notes again, so here are some more specific details about quality of life:

- Exam weeks off; block exams are every ~6wks on Fridays and you won't have any lectures that week. Many other schools lecture the week of exams.
- Friday quizzing means entire weekend can be spent "off." A lot of folks go out with classmates, but you can also take the time to catch up or get ahead.
- Pass/Fail pre-clinical (albeit with internal rankings but I can see why it's somewhat necessary with such a large class)
- Non-mandatory lectures, supplemented with mandatory case-based learning
- Lots of options to personalize the curriculum to your own interests through scholarly inquiry tracks, etc.
- Gym with pool and free fitness classes included in tuition
- Large class size means you're guaranteed to find friends who you really vibe with. It's a turn-off for some, but I'm pretty picky with my friend groups so it's nice to have a lot of people as potential friends. Rotating CBL groups help introduce you to new people throughout the years.
- Best location of the Philadelphia medical schools, in Center City
- Can see really diverse patient populations since Jeff has so many hospitals/clinics and affiliates -- wealthy patients in the suburbs to very underserved communities. Great for clinical education.
- The big one for me: Philadelphia is a fantastic place to live. It's one of the largest cities in the US, but also incredibly affordable. I'm from the Midwest, and I could get a far nicer apartment/townhouse in Center City Philly than I could in my town. Jeff student housing is also in a great location. I've just been so amazed by how you can enjoy a truly beautiful city and live in a very safe, historic area at such a good rate. It's also a short train ride to New York City for a fun weekend trip. Lots of possibilities for hiking within a reasonable drive. Large airport makes flying home convenient.
- The faculty I've interacted with at Jeff are basically all "lifers" -- many have been at SKMC from med school, through residency, and are now attendings because they love the program. It seems very fun and chill, and this came through stronger on my interview day than for any other school.

SKMC is literally my dream school but I've been complete since July and it's been absolute silence (but no formal rejection so I guess that's good). I wanna send an update because I don't have much to lose here but I have no idea what to write. All I have to "update" on is that I graduated from college (maintaining my GPA) and that I am 10000% in love with the school. Any advice?

Can anyone shed some light on how long the interview(s) is/are? Is the interview "day" actually an entire day of presentations, etc or just the interviews?

I sent an update in September after getting a new job, and I want to do a letter of interest but I don't have an II and feel like it might be weird to just do that with no update?? I have literally nothing else to update though lmao do you think that would be okay?

I'm a student at SKMC and can echo that there's a large focus on student happiness here. It's not easy to be in medical school during COVID but the administration has done a phenomenal job listening to student feedback and the content delivery is excellent. We have quizzes that count for nothing at the end of every week and exams are scheduled before longer breaks with a whole week to study for them. That doesn't mean the exams are easy but it's easier to prepare and you get extra time to relax between blocks.

SKMC also recruits some awesome students with a variety of experiences and I think that's a product of our large class. We have a para-olympian at our school, students with their own families, lots of internationals, and people you just want to have a coffee with and can relate to at a personal level. That being said we also have infamous gunners/med Twitter people in our class who think medicine is like Grey's Anatomy, think they're saving the world calling out students for trying to socialize after months of Zoom classes, and wish the Holidays/breaks didn't exist so that they can shadow more in the OR. I think you'll always find those types of students at every medical school though. SKMC still has the diversity of students to find their own niche and students are generally very happy with lots of support and resources available to them

It's Wednesday, which means I get to neurotically check SDN to see if other people got a call today AND I get to answer every spam call thinking it's Dr. Callahan **even though she specifically said that SKMC would be on a holiday break until the first week of January**. OoOoOo what a day to be alive!!

does Jefferson accept updates? Having a hard time finding information on the topic...thanks!!

Should men be clean shaven for the interview?

Happy New Year! 🙂 Does anyone know if SKMC will be holding in-person events for accepted students? I would love for a chance to see campus in person, but totally understand all the COVID precautions. Any insight on this would be greatly appreciated!

has anyone who interviewed in december heard back yet? i’m so anxious 🥲🥲
When did you interview? I interviewed on 12/16 and haven't heard anything yet. Tomorrow will likely be the earliest that my interview group will hear back, if at all.

This is my only acceptance but I haven't gotten my Certiphi background check email yet. Anyone in the same boat?

I wonder with the holiday break if they'll give out decisions for both groups (12/9 & 12/16) today/this week. Really hoping they do, but may not be realistic considering that's roughly ~50 applicants to hand decisions to. Anxiety at an all time high

As of this morning, I haven't gotten anything from Certiphi either. I did some digging on SDN and people said there were previous issues with receiving the email (Certiphi had sent it, but it never came through). I called just now and they said I should have gotten something, and that they would re-send. I would definitely give them a call!

I was in the 12/2 group and haven't heard anything back yet so I think they have 12/2, 12/9, and 12/16 to get through so a lot of applicants . Hoping for good news today, ringer on high haha
