2020-2021 Johns Hopkins

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
@YoloSwagCats @ChonkySkyBison Just emailed JHU and they said I missed the deadline for submitting prereqs (idk how though cause no email I got from them indicated a separate deadline for prereqs but honestly my fault for spending so long submitting this damn app). they opened up that section for me though just for today so I could complete it, so I encourage you to email!
Thank you for letting us know! I will send them an email. Really appreciate it!
Just sent them an email. I totally expect them to just throw out my application for submitting on literally Nov 1st and apparently missing a deadline to fill out the prerequisite section. But hey, there's nothing to lose. Thanks for letting us know!

am honestly curious how schools like jh, stanford would react if someone updated with like the cure to COVID19 or something pre-II..lol

Has anyone who applied in early October gotten an interview recently? I never received a confirmation email that my application file was complete 🙁

Someone correct me if I'm wrong, but I'm pretty sure they've barely started on August.

Is it worth it to email admissions if you haven't gotten a confirmation email yet? I submitted secondary 11/1 and still haven't gotten one back.

For October interviewees, when should we send update letters if we are getting notifications in December? Worried if I send it too late that the committee will have already made a decision

Does anyone know what interviewing for MSTP is like? Other schools have given a general schedule of meetings with the MSTP committee, a physician, faculty members, etc., but I haven't gotten anything of that sort from Hopkins.

Wow, I thought that JHU rejected me like last week and it was only now after checking the portal that I realized it was only a very vivid dream that I thought happened in real life. 🤣 what a pleasant surprise
Does JHU portal show any status? Unlike AMP portal, the AAMC portal does not show anything, right?

I believe that's correct. I wish it showed us something 🙁
I was confused by @ChonkySkyBison 's post which indicated seeing some status on the portal.

To be clear, I checked my secondary app portal, saw that my app said "finished", looked and saw that I never got an R email, and then posted on SDN. Hope that settles your nerves 😉

already?? I just submitted their app omg... why aren't schools being more accommodating about their interview season when covid delayed everything..
EXACTLY! Like, all these schools claiming that they are being accommodating because they understand the situation with the pandemic, yet they seem to be working as if we were on a traditional application cycle timeline. I have schools still going through applications from July or August, and already scheduling interviews for January and February. Like, how? Are y'all really going to get through all the apps and give all applicants fair consideration or nah?

I don't think that could be true if their secondary deadline is Nov... And I personally heard the asst dean of admissions emphasize that they read every application and that we shouldn't feel pressure to submit early but to submit when your application is truly ready.

I was considering the same question - I think any day before Thanksgiving should give them adequate time to see the update

Really?! On their website, I believe it says that interviews will be done in late February 2021. But would they still stop sending invites in mid-Dec?

They might they might not; its not out of the realm of possibility to fill up interview slots through feburary by december but we've all seen schools offer interviews in january for later in january.

Anyone who has already interviewed- what as the group meeting with 4th years like? The email doesn’t explain if it’s an info session or a 3rd pseudo interview. Don’t know what to expect

It was really chill, pretty much just an info session. It takes place before the actual interviews so it'll help you relax a bit.
