2020-2021 Miami (Miller)

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
Congrats on the acceptances!! I know you have a long time to go this cycle before final commitment but happy to answer post-acceptance questions (especially for folks deciding MD vs MD/MPH) (unless they are about the new preclinical curriculum in which case y'all know more than I do)

did anyone who got any acceptances/interviews NOT fill out every single optional essay? I'm wondering if I can submit the secondary without the travel essay and still have a chance

first off, congrats to everyone thats been accepted! lmk if anyone has questions about the school.

In regards to your question I applied super late and didn't answer one or two of the optional questions (one was the fine arts question). I was accepted and got a very nice scholarship so you def do not have to answer each one. What looks bad is writing stuff just to fill space so just be honest about your experiences

Does UM accept post submission updates ? If so how would I go about it ? Email????

Did anyone who is interviewing tomorrow, 10/23, receive the email with the zoom link but not the email with the itinerary? It says by the end of today we should get it but i dont know if I should be worried that i didn't get it yet.

Has anyone who interviewed or gotten the invite had issues with the portal not showing any interview/scheduling option? I figured it may take a bit to show up but wanted to check in case I need to reach out to the school.

Congrats to everyone that got accepted :claps:

Msg me if anyone has questions about the new curriculum; our exams are low-stakes and stress-free so give me a reason to procrastinate studying :penguin:

Did anyone else have a late September/ early October interview and is still awaiting the results with no word? Only indication I've gotten is the update in the portal "We hope you enjoyed your visit to our campus. your admissions decision will be avail shortly. Please contact us if you do not hear from us in 7 days".

does this school offer any full tuition scholarships?

Getting pretty concerned that I still have not been scored despite being complete with green check marks on 8/18...

How do you know what you got on Casper?

some people including myself were lucky (or not lol) to get emailed their scores. I got mine about a month after.

Can people that get scored get rejected?
The purpose of scoring is to then have an admissions committee meeting, be able to compare scores, and decide who gets the next bunch of interviews. If not invited, you may get looked at next time again.
If you have "been scored" apparently 3 admissions committee members have already completely reviewed your application.
I would conclude that as they come to the end of their designated number of interviews someone who has been scored could be left out and if not interviewed, eventually rejected.

So if after the review by the 3 adcom members, they don't want to proceed with the applicant, they will not even score?

does this school offer any full tuition scholarships?

I’m honestly not sure. I’m fairly certain they do but what I know for sure is they offer 50% and 75% along with other smaller amounts. I also believe 1 person gets full COA
