This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
What does the complete email read?

Thank you for submitting your application to the New York University Long Island School of Medicine.

Your application is now complete and will be reviewed by our admissions staff. If selected for an interview, you will receive an email.

You may check on your application status at any time by selecting the 'Status' tab on our admissions portal.

Once again, thank you for your interest in our school.

Does anyone know when interview invites are likely to be sent out?

Does anyone have a good idea from last year what the percentage of accepted students could be? I know typically it ranges from 1/3-2/3 (allegedly) of interviews for med school in general but I'm not sure how different this program is since it's such a small class size with 24-30 matriculants.

I've looked everywhere for this info, but there's only one matriculated class with none of the particular stats posted anywhere.

MSAR info states that 581 IS and 1741 OOS had a verified primary sent to NYU Long Island with 187 and 200 applicants interviewed, respectively, with 14 and 10 matriculants from each group.

Considering that this school is 3-year, high-prestige, free tuition, has a conditional guarantee of residency placement, ect, I'm going to guess that accepted interviewees will jump on the opportunity to attend here so acceptance rates will be particularly low, especially with the additional fact that there are <30 seats per class. On the other hand, this program narrows a med student's ability to venture outwards from internal/family med, ect, so that may be a reason for some people to choose elsewhere despite being accepted. But then again, I'm sure the application and interviewing process would weed out people who aren't truly interested in these fields.

This is all speculation, nonetheless, feel free for anyone to jump in and contest! 🙂

I might be wrong but I think they're bumping up the class size to 40 students this year. The NYU prestige, 3 year program, free tuition, and guaranteed residency definitely attracts a lot of competitive students, but I feel like the primary care emphasis also dissuades a lot of super-competitive applicants as well. But I'm just speculating.

Can someone comment on curriculum at NYU-LI? How much of it is lecture-style vs active learning? Would love to hear from a current student.

I'm correct in saying NYU doesn't have an FM program, right? Just the four on the website (OB-GYN, peds, IM, gen surg)? Just want to make sure I'm not missing something.

Their IM might have a family medicine track...

Bump.
If there’s a current student here, i am also curious on how you feel about the pacing of the curriculum and if you feel that you have ample time to master the material and also pursue extracurriculars?

You are correct. I contacted the Residency Coordinator at NYU Winthrop who said they do not have a family medicine residency program at this time. She was not aware of any immediate future plans to develop one either.

Bummer, thanks for letting me know! Best of luck to all of you who are applying!

Is anyone who has gotten an II a reapplicant? I have two takes that are two years apart and ten point increase. Not really sure how the first score affects my chances in general

Has anyone interviewed here yet? I'd love to hear about your experiences and thoughts!
It was honestly pretty chill! can't say much cuz of the NDA but they made us do ice breaker games on zoom with the other applicants to loosen us up before the MMI haha.

Sidenote: They announced that they are keeping the class size at 24 students indefinitely because of funding issues from COVID, this also means that instead of choosing candidates on a rolling basis they want to assess all interviewees before making a decision and we will all get a decision mid february, kind of like undergrad. I thought that was fairly nice tbh even though such a long wait from now.

Did they talk about curriculum?? How much of it is active learning vs passive (lecture) style? Would love to connect with a current student if they gave you any contacts.

Just wondering, does anyone know if nyuli has separate committee per program? Like, do certain people in committee choose for IM while others do peds?

Has anyone had trouble uploading their photo ID to the AMP portal? Cannot find the other documents tab... Thanks!

I was wondering the same thing! I thought maybe it's the "Document Upload" tab and then we select "additional documents" as the type?? I'm really not sure though :/

When I uploaded my ID I also put it in the additional documents. It only let me upload a pdf, so I put both pictures (front and back) onto a word document and then saved that as a pdf? Is this what you did as well?

I got a complete email on 8/13, but I just checked my portal and now it says "Letters of Reference X Not Received", even though my status is complete. Anyone else have this issue?

I had this issue with Brown's application, but they use the same provider to do secondaries. I wonder if it's an issue with the system?

II just now! I'm in disbelief! Complete 8/13, LM 70, ORM

I submitted an update to them 4 days ago, I guess it actually made a difference
Congtatulations!!!! Which residency program did you choose btw?

Does anyone who submitted an update letter know where to send it (either upload or email?) Thanks!
