Does anyone know how the process goes if you selected interest in the accelerated paths? Either the neurosurgery one or the ortho one?

It was never mentioned during my interview and not mentioned in the acceptance letter. Just curious if there is a second process to do or what.

I think it’s not exactly a soft R, but the chance of receiving II is low. I have been on hold since November :///. Also, it seems like schools are giving out more holds this cycle?

Pre-II rejection just now, complete mid August. OOS. This is my sixth R and tbh after this many rejections, I'm a little numb to them at this point

Thanks for the insight and good luck! Maybe with all the COVID uncertainty, schools want to keep the field as open as possible (which is annoying for us of course!)

Thanks! I have two interviews coming up (one MD and one DO) as well so I am hopeful in general. I was lucky, because that is probably what eases the blow of the many rejections

During my interview Friday they said "the sources you may have seen said you will hear back in 6-8 weeks, it is actually more like 8-10 because we are backed up."

I just emailed admissions and the auto-reply said 12 weeks or more 😢

I'm so sorry to hear they're keeping you waiting so long. I interviewed mid-October and am in a similar situation -- grew up here and would love to go here. Not sure what's going on. I'll DM you!

Is there ever a status other than "application is ready" before a hold/R/II is sent out? Not sure if there is an "under review" status here. I submitted 8/27 and just silence my status still says application is ready.

From my understanding, the pecking order is Silence > Hold > Rejection (pre-interview). So to answer your question, your "under review" status is a good thing here!

Thats so odd they said that it could take 12 weeks or longer. At my interview they told us 6-8 weeks, and I found out exactly 6 weeks later. I have heard people be in the same situation as you, so seems like they are all over the place.

one of my interviewers asked me "do you have any questions for me" a good 5x and seemed like they wanted me to lead the conversation.

Completed 8/13. Received II 9/23. Interviewed 10/19 and received an acceptance 6 weeks later.

Right! Im just not sure when it's appropriate to call again if ever. I was thinking I'd definitely hear with the next round of decisions but alas
