2020-2021 Seton Hall

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
Checked on AAMC the other day and they said that you get an invite for VITA as soon as you receive an II for a school participating in the VITA service.
😳 I have received multiple secondary applications from schools using VITA and submitted most of them, but I have not received a VITA invite. I have only received emails from AAMC regarding the announcement of VITA and updates thereof.

II = interview invite, not secondary!
Yes, the VITA will be brought into play at the time a school invites you to interview. You will do the VITA once, and other schools which might invite you later will look at the same one.

I tried sending an email to the address on their website ([email protected]) but gmail says the email could not be delivered due to a server issue? Has anyone been able to get in touch with admissions via this email address or a different one?

the most recent email they sent has this email in it : [email protected] maybe the website is out of date?

For the document upload, where they say "If you have additional coursework that has changed since your application submission it can be uploaded under Course Schedule" – I have three courses from spring quarter that I listed as in progress/current that I now have grades for. Does this count as something that needs to be updated here or are they referring to other changes?

I saw on another board that someone got an II from Seton Hall .... maybe they are an undergrad in the early linkage program?

I'm so confused because everything I find says that Hackensack is separated from Seton Hall, but their secondary invite email still had Seton Hall in the name?

Do they still have the 3 year MD program where you enter residency early? I'm not sure if this would be affected by the separation

Is just submitting the secondary application and a color photo considered complete? Is just uploading the photo enough or do we have to hit the "I'm done uploading documents" button?

"Once you have attached all necessary documents please submit the mentioned section (once you click submit/done you will not be able to add to this section). The system will not recognize your application as being complete if both sections are not submitted properly."

this is what the email said the other day so I hit the "I'm done" button. figure if we need to send updates, we can contact them directly in this case. for all other schools using gateway, I had to finalize this section first to submit.

how detailed were people able to get for the "why HMSOM" question? the website is just a breakdown of the curriculum and many of the links do not work. I would like to talk about something else in addition to the curriculum setup that aligns with my profile but can't find anything. even on google. anyone know of any other unique things they offer? what do students do here besides what's required as part of the curriculum?

Do they send complete emails? I uploaded a photo and submitted my secondary a few days ago and got no confirmation.

Wasn’t amazingly specific besides stating the 3+1 curriculum( what i planned on in that +1 year) and the general school feel towards human dimension. I used a lot of my words to talk about location and how I’d fit into their mission statement of serving NJ though.

okay. i did the same and I feel many others will too because we don't have much to go off of. was hoping there was some other info out there but I guess not. they'll just have to capture my uniqueness from the other essays. lol

thx for your feedback!!!

I feel like they've made updates to the website since I was last searching a few weeks ago, and I was able to find more this time around on things like the school's vision, guiding principles, and certain, specific aspects of the curriculum like the Human Dimension Course. Maybe this is stuff you'd already seen, but for some reason it wasn't so easy to find last time I was looking.

Anyway, these two links will get you going in those directions if you haven't already seen them:
1. Admissions – Hackensack Meridian School of Medicine
2. Hackensack Meridian School of Medicine

A question on this...once I complete VITA for one school, I know it is now available to other schools. Does my VITA then get sent to all the VITA-participating schools I have applied to, or does it only get sent when a school requests it ? Not sure how this works.

Only when requested

Have a couple questions for admissions but have had no luck with an email response so far, so I figured id take a shot and see if anyone here had the same questions answered:
  1. Anyone have any info about the distinct English comp/literature prereqs and how they decide if you fit it?
  2. Does the "biology" req specifically mean gen bio or any level bio course? I have gen bio AP credit with upper-level bio electives and labs, and wanted to know if this would suffice

Preliminary review email received just now. Says they’ll notify if anything is missing and takes 2-4 weeks to process.

+8. Is this just their way of updating our status to 'under review' like other portals do?

Would serving at a clinic in a different country count as "circumstance where you sought to learn about a culture, group or idea different than your own" ? I learned a lot about this particular group of people and how their culture was, surprisingly, similar to mine....

ty to the preliminary review email for giving me my daily heart attack LOL
Same haha same. Curious if they’ll follow the 2-4 rule though.

I think that could work as long as you discuss how it was different as well. The idea itself is to connect to diversity

Hi- so I read here that there isn't much of a prelim screen (if anything at all). I only received a 504 on the MCAT, GPA 3.93. My application is pretty bangin besides my MCAT, but should I bother filling out the secondary? I see some people commenting that they're looking to start off accepting students with 512+ right off the bat to boost their stats. What do you all think?

Why not shoot your shot? If you don’t, you’ll get rejected irregardless. Don’t sell yourself short!

On another note, if you can’t see yourself going here at all, that’s a different ballpark.
