TBH i think the ranking change is insignificant.
I swear US News changes their methodology every year, so I don't know what to believe anymoreTBH i think the ranking change is insignificant.
Nothing we can doAnyone on the waitlist doing anything? I want to submit a letter of intent but they don’t accept updates...
In a way, this is kinda nice. Sure, it's unnerving knowing there's nothing you can do to control you own destiny but at the same time, the pressure to submit a stream of increasingly substanceless updates and love letters is alleviated.i emailed them about LOI and what to do if on the waitlist. they said you can send a LOI but it has zero influence on where you are on the waitlist. soooo i’m not gonna waste my time 🤷♀️
It is ranked! We'll know our spots later this monthIn a way, this is kinda nice. Sure, it's unnerving knowing there's nothing you can do to control you own destiny but at the same time, the pressure to submit a stream of increasingly substanceless updates and love letters is alleviated.
It would do wonders for our mental health if the waitlist was ranked and continuously viewable (something like Iowa's).
From 2019:does anyone have the match list or know where i can find it?
Here's a PDF of what was posted if that helps (also the 2019 report)does anyone have the match list or know where i can find it?
Yeah I know, I said ranked+continuously viewable. From my understanding, you don't get real-time (or close to real-time) updates of your WL position at Wisconsin but you do at Iowa.It is ranked! We'll know our spots later this month
What a current student told me- there are 4 blocks that are 3 months each and 1 of the 4 blocks has to be at another site. You rank the sites and most students get their first choice. Can any current students comment on what it was like to move around for rotations? Did you have to find temporary housing or was it provided? Is there a process to receive an exception so that you can stay in Madison for 4 years?
I emailed admissions for schools that I withdrew from without a buttonPlanning on withdrawing, hope one of you amazing people gets my spot ! Anyone know how to withdraw though? The portal doesn't have a button for this...
Not sure! But there is the financial aid presentation tonight 6-7 PM CDTdoes anyone know if all scholarships have gone out already?
What did they say about scholarships? I couldn’t attend and the videos aren’t up yetNot sure! But there is the financial aid presentation tonight 6-7 PM CDT
Yes they’re still given out scholarships! I attended the financial aid session and was shocked to have received one later today! What did they say about scholarships? I couldn’t attend and the videos aren’t up yet
I know they do full tuition, but unsure if they do cost of attendance.Anyone know the maximum amount of scholarship that Wisconsin offers students?
Thank you! Good to know!I know they do full tuition, but unsure if they do cost of attendance.
Same. So far I see at least 2 IS withdraws on this page.Just got my (IS) waitlist position.

Did they email you?Just got my (IS) waitlist position.
Yes.Did they email you?
YupDid they email you?
Pretty sure it just means your percentile rank in this case. What does decile rank mean?
lol I need a lot more than 2 Definitely still have a small chance but it's gonna be close. Hopefully there's an unusually large amount of movement this year.Same. So far I see at least 2 IS withdraws on this page.
Not every applicant reads SDN and not every applicant who reads SDN posts on SDN.lol I need a lot more than 2 Definitely still have a small chance but it's gonna be close. Hopefully there's a usually large amount of movement this year.
Hmm, read through last year's thread and see what happened. But honestly, I would say your chances are not the best... but you never know! There could be HUGE WL movement this yearUsually how many students get off the waitlist? If you’re ranked 40th on the oos waitlist what are your chances?
+1Just got my (IS) waitlist position.
I think higher percentile is better. But I'm not sure if they differentiate OOS vs IS decile ranking or if they combine all applicants into one pool for that...So does decile rank (which is better high percentile right?) takes into account OOS WL and IS WL right?
I don’t think that’s true, can’t really prove it though 😂😂I think decile rank is like the top %. So like 5% is top 5% and ranked higher than 15%. Also decile increases by 10%.
Decile Rank | Percentile |
1 | 10th |
2 | 20th |
3 | 30th |
4 | 40th |
5 | 50th |
6 | 60th |
7 | 70th |
8 | 80th |
9 | 90th |
You're correct about the inverse relationship but minor correction on the example you offered:Higher the decile the lower your rank number is. E.g. the first person in line (rank 1) is in the 100% decile
