Hi- so I read here that there isn't much of a prelim screen (if anything at all). I only received a 504 on the MCAT, GPA 3.93. My application is pretty bangin besides my MCAT, but should I bother filling out the secondary? I see some people commenting that they're looking to start off accepting students with 512+ right off the bat to boost their stats. What do you all think?
Dew it

Hi all, first time applicant here just sharing my info to help with the neuroticism of the waiting game for II.
AMCAS primary verified 8/12
Hackensack added to primary on 9/3.
Secondary received 9/3
Secondary submitting just now 9/16.

Yes, the VITA will be brought into play at the time a school invites you to interview. You will do the VITA once, and other schools which might invite you later will look at the same one.

Hi! So I want to piggyback off this because I still havent been able to figure out the discrepancy with VITA but to my understanding if you receive an invite to VITA it can be for one of two reason (1) it is an semi-II from the school as part of their interview process this cycle OR (2) for lack of a better word "tertiary" for schools that invite ALL applicants to complete VITA.

As such, how do you distinguish if you get a VITA invite because a school invites all their applicants vs. an actual invite bc I dont think the AAMC VITA invite tells you the school that sent it to you right?

Again, still a noob here about VITA, so please LMK what you all think.

So VITA is used this cycle as a tertiary screen (UMass), as a complement for schools who in real time would use an MMI format interview(UMichigan, Washington State), or In rare cases to replace the interview entirely (Rosalind Franklin). When a school is interested in obtaining your VITA, it sends a request to Hirevue which is the agency that hosts VITA and basically will send you a link to upload VITA. If you get more than 1 invite with VITA it sends you an update basically saying “here are the schools that request your VITA” (this also applies with your initial school), but in theory your school tells you to do VITA and after the first one you don’t get to repeat it but merely say you give them permission to share your VITA with the second school . How each school uses VITA is different and you refer to their respective websites to find out how they use it

I LOVE YOU. THANK YOU SO MUCH!

Was anyone able to contact this school? I cannot find a phone number on their website for the admissions office, and when I tried to email the address on the website it bounced back.

Hey guys, serious question. I know it was briefly talked about in the beginning of the thread but forreal.. what is question 3 asking? How do we interpret that? Basically "Why Medicine?"??

yes, thats how i treated it. the culmination of my personal, professional, and academic experiences and how thats forged me into the person I am today and physician I one day aspire to be.

No idea if it's what they're looking for, but I essentially laid out the core traits of what I believe makes a strong physician and then addressed what experiences in my own life have fostered those traits

yep, their email is [email protected] . I got a response from their per Zix. Phone number is : 973.275.4838.

Did this email or phone number work for anyone else? I've been trying to get in contact with this school for the past week with no luck. I have sent emails to this address with no response, emailed the address on their website (it bounced back, according to my mail it said that their servers do not accept requests to connect), and called this number multiple times. Every time I call, nobody answers and then it says that the voicemail box is full.

What do you guys think the 2-4 weeks means? Is that when they will get back to you in terms of an II or R? slightly confused.
that would be ideal, but i have a feeling there will be an intermediate stage like "review complete" and then a pause LOL

Aight Hackensack Meridian at Seton Hall you set a precedent by having your first II of the cycle go out on September 30th, 2019. Don't disappoint us and continue that precedent this year.

But if not, I'm ready to be disappointed again.

Were we supposed to receive a received or complete email after submitting the secondary?

I could swear that I saw either an email from them or at the end of my secondary submission that they would let us know in 4-8 weeks via email when we are complete and being reviewed. Maybe im trippin thooo

nah you're correct. about 6-7 days after submitting secondary, i got an email that said forwarded for preliminary review. And it did state to expect that to be completed within 2-4 weeks.

but according to last years thread, that timeline wasnt exactly followed ha

You are correct but according to last year's thread, people have gotten IIs without the complete email so that may be a thing.

I submitted 9/1 and got a “preliminary review” email 9/7 stating they’d let me know within 2-4 weeks if they’ve gotten all my documents but I haven’t heard anything back yet.
I sent them an email trying to confirm my completion and have not heard back at all. Sent it a month ago :/

i wouldnt worry too much. i think this school is known to run far behind the other interview cycles of other schools.
