So if we didn’t just get alternate list but we haven’t heard back do we think that means a rejection?

Alternate waitlist IS. Does this mean I really should start rewriting my essays ? sigh

do we think that there will be movement off AL after the 30th? Trying really hard to remain optimistic this was my top choice

AL interviewed January 19, OOS. Did anyone else who got the alternate list note how SUNY Downstate claims that if you committed to enroll to any other school by April 30th on AMCAS they will withdraw your AL from SUNY Downstate. Interesting. Hopefully there is movement after the 30th!!

Last year's thread showed a bunch of post II R's around this time. Wonder why they haven't done that. They gave a handful of acceptances a few months ago, a massive WL just now, but no R's.

yall cant compare this cycle with last year. Last year, they were in the beginning and peak of unprecedented COVID. it changed every school’s process at this time last year

Picture of me thinking schools were taking COVID-related delays into consideration and applied late

Honestly, I'm just curious as to why they don't release admission decisions like 99% of schools do - 2-6 weeks after interviewing. It just doesn't make sense. I feel like they make it so much harder on themselves this way.... I can only imagine the amount of applicants were interviewed that were waiting for months on end all the while interviewing through April.

for the people who were NOT put on the AL, did you guys interview recently? seems like the AL was sept-january interview heavy

I do not think they are going to send any more decisions until after the PTE deadline. I feel like they were forced to put everybody who interviewed months ago on the ALT list cause they don’t want applicants who would eventually be accepted, to withdraw their apps out of spite. I also believe that a lot of Alt list decisions might turn into post-II Rs after a the PTE deadline because they haven’t separated that group out yet.

These are all just my assumptions. Let’s hope for the best

does anyone know how many people get pulled off the alternate list, or how likely it is?
In last year's thread, a current student stated that about 30% of the class comes from the alternate list. So that's about 60 people pulled. With application numbers up due to covid, specifically due to online interviews, I think more people with acceptances will matriculate elsewhere, leading to more acceptances to alternate list candidates. However, I also think that the alternate list is larger this year, also due to the increased number of applicants. Those are just my thoughts on it.

interviewed early/mid march (OOS), nothing here. i just don't think they got to us yet which scares me. really hope we didnt interview for a WL/R. I know a few people last year got in with a march interview but who knows w/ covid how screwed things are. they might release another wave of decisions for the post-february interview gang or wait till may, imo. i feel like they're hauling ass now and scrambling to make decisions and get everyone looked at before may

Am I the only Jan interview with no results? Kinda scared tbh might be a post II R

this is my second cycle, last year i was put on the AL list and now im just having war flashbacks sorry y'all
Same... I think I remember you from last year's thread 🥲🥲🥲 my heart was literally beating out of my chest catching up on these last few pages of the thread wheww

Yes because if you “commit to enroll” to any school you’re committing to the school and have to withdraw all other apps. Being removed from a waitlist after committing to enroll applies to all schools. “Plan to enroll” is different. You can plan to enroll at another school and remain on downstate’s AL I believe. You can also remain on other waitlists while having selected “plan to enroll” at a school. Most schools don’t require you to officially commit and select commit to enroll until July. That’s my understanding but I could be wrong
