So if you go to Toledo as an OOS, do you pay OOS tuition for only 1 yr and then pay IS tuition for the rest 3 yrs? I heard you only have to live in ohio for 1 yr before becoming a resident ?

Yeah that's right. Toledo's one of the unique schools that allows for that. The faculty will help you with that process.

Wondering if it’s worth it to send pre-II updates or is it still too early?
I sent one right before I got my II. I‘m not sure if they read since it was literally a 1 or 2 day difference but, I would definitely send one if you have a substantial update.

Interviewed today. There were a few technical difficulties which threw me off my game for one of my interviews but overall it went really well. I didn’t feel as though I was overly challenged to defend my answers. They just asked questions that helped me expand on my answers. Honestly not as stressful as I was building up in my head and none of my interviewers were “stress interviewers” and they were all very kind and conversational. Prepare for ethical, scenario, and even personal questions.

Also, for decisions they said within a few weeks. I know past years had a 2-3 month wait time so we’ll see. Good luck to everyone else interviewing/waiting for II’s!
What is the day like?? I haven't received any information on what the day will be like and I interview tomorrow. All I know is that its from 8:30 am to 12:30 pm. Is there a presentation before, student panel, student interview etc? MMIs? Just faculty interviews?
I'm hoping there will be a presentation or panel before so I can learn more about their school.

Thanks!

Yes there will be a presentation. Very friendly people. Small interview group (mine was only 8 people, just enough for the MMI stations).
You have time for breaks if you need to the use the restroom, etc. to a previous point made in this thread, you can NOT view your MMI prompt early so don’t try. IDK if they fixed it or that other user had a different browser/computer. The MMI prompts display exactly when the timer hits 00:00.

after MMIs you will have time before you go out and sign off for the day. Someone will be there to answer questions and tell you when you’ll likely hear back after interviews.
FYI MMIs were not stressful at all. I tend to ramble so I just like listening to myself talk haha. No one made me feel defensive about my answers.

Ahhh they didn’t let me type more. Anyway, no student panel. For MMIs, they are instructed not to tell you if they are faculties or students or staff.
They ask if you have any questions throughout the presentation and at the end of the day.

anyway good luck <3

II around 7 today, IS

Earliest date I could schedule was in late March. Did others have the same experience @deacsdaig?
Has anyone been offered an acceptance post ii? What is the post ii acceptance rate like at Toledo? Basically if I do well at ii, am I almost guaranteed a spot or is there a huge cut again?

thanks

So based on what everyone who’s interviewed has said, it seems the day is a low pressure MMI session? Any tips would be appreciated!

Yes, it is quite low pressure. They just really want to see if you can talk normally like a normal human being. That's why Toledo's post interview acceptance rate is relatively high. Moreover, even if it is a high pressure MMI session, the best way to face that would be to walk into it as if it were a low pressure situation (like you're talking to family or to friends). You'll remain calmer, and will be able to articulate your thoughts, and present yourself better. The biggest hurdle for MMIs is not so much what you're saying and how much you've prepped for that (really hard to do as questions are random), but rather the psychological barrier, which influences your "vibe" and the way you carry yourself. Can you remain calm under apparent pressure?

Edit: Make sure to keep in mind that 70-93% of all communication is nonverbal. So again, it's not what you say, but how you present yourself. And how you present yourself is something communicated and received subconsciously. The interviewer might feel that they liked talking with you, even though your answer is the same with everyone else's, but can't really pinpoint specifically why (because it's subconscious communication). Some tips to do that are: smiling, not being monotone, having good posture, good camera, using minimal but impactful hand gestures, limiting "uhms", slow down/speed up when necessary, not fidgeting/moving side to side or swiveling around your chair, etc.

Got it, really appreciate the advice! I’m just curious if Toledo had added anything unique this year like they said.

How was the ii at Toledo? (Ie. how many mmi stations and stress) Also, do they mostly ask ethical scenarios at these stations or are there any for personal questions (why medicine? , tell about yourself, strengths weaknesses)

myself and others have answered all of your questions on pages ~17-19!

To add to the explanations on ps. 17-19....ALL of my stations were either "here is a scenario, what are your thoughts, do you agree, disagree, and why" OR "here is a scenario what would you do."

Personally didn't find it stressful 🙂 Good luck!!

They said about 3 weeks in our interview and also said they have semi rolling admissions

what do they mean by semi-rolling?
They said there are sub-committees which the interviews get sent to and depending on the sub-committee it could be shorter or longer. That's what I remember off the top of my head anyway

do med schools still need to accept the same number of people as the expected entering class by march 15 this year?

This came up somewhere earlier in the thread, IIRC. I think the answer was that they're not actually required to do that and it's more of a suggestion.
