2020-2021 Tulane

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
I truly loved the interview experience, personally. It was very informal and more of a conversation. I did practice for the standardized patient exercise with the attending I shadowed with at Georgetown a few days prior, which I think helped a lot. But overall, if invited to interview it is more about personality than academics at that point, so being your true, genuine self is probably the best advice I would offer. Obviously make sure you do your research about why you would want to join Tulane, and highlight community service, community-medicine etc.
If you don't mind me asking, how long is the patient simulation interview? Thank you!

Under review (66 days after secondary complete if anyone is wondering..) Not expecting an interview from them at this point since they've already scheduled out so far but it's nice to know they're at least looking at my app :xf:

I just counted... 50 days and still waiting! So I guess *if* they plan to review it at all, I will still be waiting a few more weeks for that to begin!

is it dumb to send an update letter through the portal if im still not under review. submitted app 8/7

Anyone who's interviewed have any thoughts on it? Have mine this week, have heard from friends its very conversational/no tricks, but curious if anyone who has done it this year have any tips on best way to practice for the 2 interviews and the SP

Your friends are right, just be a normal person and both aspects will go smoothly.

Read/review your primary application and secondary application from the point of view of a reviewer. Remember, you already look good on paper. So, during your interviews, if you personify what is on paper, you would be good. I'm interviewing in middle of November, so good luck to you 🙂 Hope we are both successful and I can call you my classmate and colleague!

for people that have interviewed, are they still conducted the standardized patient exercise now that were no longer in person?

Thats going to make a lot of people who applied before you very angry!!! lolololololololololololololol
I'm at the lower end of their stats and honestly expect a pre-II R. However, my application is very non-trad with tremendous service-oriented experiences towards underserved populations.

Unsure why/how I went under review so quickly though.. I won't overthink it, but I do believe I'd be a great fit for this program.

Awesome! I’m curious do you have ties to the school?

do we think people who interviewed in october might here back today?

Placed on hold this morning! Submitted 7/20, complete 8/18 (mcat), under review 8/19. I'd really love to go to Tulane, it's definitely top 5 for me! Still holding out hope.

Still waiting to be marked under review. Hope this year they aren't as diligent about who applied early especially due to the wildfires in my area, because I'd really like a chance here!!
