2020-2021 Tulane

what i'm wondering at the moment is this - so all the interviews are sent out correct? 100% aside potential cancellations? so unless an outright R - kind of all in the same boat type thing- complete, review, on hold - next step would still be hopeful II. I knew early was better but not applications ONLY considered in july - that's very different

Not all of them are sent out, but the vast majority apparently are. I agree, I think Tulane's process is strange and idiosyncratic.

Maybe their thinking is that if they send out IIs early, they're more likely to make more competitive applicants commit to their school. But in the process they also leave out and alienate many others. Not sure how well this process works out for them, but it certainly has made me and many others upset

Especially given the large secondary fee they charge

I'm confused as to what "Under Review" means. I was complete 8/5 and only got the "Under Review" email last week. Should I expect to hear from them about II/Hold/Pre-II R soon? Or is it more of a soft R?

hey guys, I submitted app 8/30 and CASPER sent on 9/25. I still have the red checkmark. Can anyone give some insight on this?

After this strenuous application process, paying for primary and secondary apps, spending countless hours perfecting our app, I believe we are entitled to have some sort of communication from Tulane at the LEAST. I'm usually not this salty but it's getting to me now :/

Is it worth applying here with a 3.85, and a 501 MCAT?

I would say no unless you are URM or have significant unique ECs (Tulane is big on being "unique"). Their SMP minimum is a 504-505, so I would assume that is kind of their med school minimum too (unless you have the two things I mentioned above).

I am a current Tulane student applying this cycle and my pre-med advisor told me that Tulane received around 17,000 apps this year compared to last year's 12,000 just an FYI

also I received an II after submitting an update letter so it wouldn't hurt @Bem7c !

Wow the current app cycle makes a little more sense now, I wonder how many of those showed up in a week.

Oh wow. That is so insane. I feel so bad for Tulane. I have a large interest in public health, so Tulane is one of my top picks! Thank you so much for the information and I will definitely send an update 🙂 Stay safe. I saw the storm was entering the gulf through Florida.

I was under review on October 6th and have not heard back... is anyone getting interviews from around that timeline? Getting so worried

If you go back through the feed, they sent a ton of IIs out mid-September, but nothing since then. It seems everyone is either getting rejected pre II or getting put on hold for possible interview.

today marks 3 months since i submitted. and still have red check mark
My gosh, that's over a 40% increase in applications (I'm pretty sure the nation-wide average is close to 17%)....during a pandemic....in a time where NOLA is dealing with back-to-back tropical storms. Shout out to Tulane for even getting anything done right now.
Convinced they lost my app.. complete 8/11 and still not under review
same, same complete date
