2020-2021 UC Davis

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
How did you prepare for it?

I just dont like it because it's so subjective. At least with casper we can justify our responses. With SJT, we have to discern between effective and VERY effective, which is subjective and we get docked points if we do not get the exact answer. That's what I'm worried about. And it stays on your record I guess so if you have to reapply, they will use it next cycle and you cannot retake it

I just finished it. I didn't prepare for it. Went in blind. I like that it's not a typing marathon like Casper. I am not a fast typer and I cant come up with a personal example and type fast at the same time to answer some questions in a given time frame. I agree that it was hard to discern between effective and very effective. I didnt use any strategy other than relyng on my experiences, morals, values to scale the answers. Have no idea how I did. I will let you know on October 14 lol

MD/PhD IS II a couple of days ago; haven't heard from the regular MD pathway and their website claims you must first be accepted into the regular MD to be considered for the MD/PhD so I'm a little confused.

Just wondering, when were you complete?

II earlier today!!! This is my top choice so I can’t express how excited I am right now
+1, I don't have a photo that fits their reqs rn so I was going to wait and take one tomorrow but I'm neurotic and love this school, did it seem like dates were filling up??

Anyone know how many OOS receive secondaries from here?
There's no set number. If you fit what they are looking for they will extend an interview to you. Just know that at least 2-3 people have reviewed your application before deciding to extend an interview.

To be honest I didn't even check. I'm pretty neurotic also so I was just trying to snag the soonest date I could.

All good! Got my photo today and there was only one day available, about a month out- so maybe it did fill but I'm fine with the timeframe personally ‍♀️

Maybe some of the people who got secondaries early and II already are applying via the EDP program?

IS applicant here and still no secondary yet.

Hello, I'm hoping to get some advice:
I haven't received a secondary yet (verified back in June, 3.9, 521, IS socal). Should I send in a letter of interest at this point? Or should I continue waiting.. is anyone in the same boat? Thanks in advance!

I’m on the same boat. 3.7, 511, IS (SoCal) and silence.

I would call the office and ask. I know they don't accept updates once the secondary has been submitted. Before getting the secondary though, I'm not so sure.

Same boat, similar stats from SoCal, but it may be that most of us SoCal peeps don't have enough ties to NorCal for UC Davis. I've lived and worked here in NorCal for 5 years, but I guess not NorCal enough for them.

I have similar stats and most of my volunteer experiences are from NorCal, though I am from SoCal. I emailed asking about the status of my application, and they simply replied saying secondaries are sent through January and to add their email to your contact list.

If you are concerned, do email them with your AMCAS ID number included, but fair warning you will likely receive the exact same reply.

For what it's worth, I'm from Southern California, (no real ties to NorCal except a brother who lives in San Jose) and received a secondary from Davis last year so being from SoCal shouldn't be a complete barrier. They could just be slow for applications/secondaries, or perhaps just look at things like mission fit I'm not sure.

UCD screens (not sure what they screen for though). Im from SoCal and ORM and got my secondary 1 day after verification. Im not a high stat either.

I thought maybe no secondary because of high stats but my friend with similar stats and less volunteering than me got a secondary :'( I feel like I'm a good mission fit for them too with Sacramento volunteering

Does anyone know when the next round of interview invites will be sent out?
