Secondary received today finally lol. Verified on 08/06, IS.

Wondering if its even worth completing it this late.....
YEP! 1% chance is still a 1% chance. It's greater than 0. Don't make any decisions that you will regret for not going all out!

Nice. I still haven’t gotten their secondary, I was verified in June. Probably won’t be getting one at this point

UC Davis used to be in my top 5, but after not receiving a secondary I don't think I am as interested anymore. Especially considering since most interview slots have seemed to be filled up. I am not upset at all, just important to realize that a school should be a match both ways. I appreciate the effort of the admissions committee to try and review everyone, but if it takes this long (verified 7/17) to get a secondary, then it's most likely a sign that we just aren't a fit for each other.

+1. Five months waiting for a secondary with stats somewhat above their median. Gimme a break!

I was in the same position, and got a secondary at the end of November. I emailed them before, and they said that they said secondaries pretty late into the process.
Not to embarrass myself here, but anyone else never get a secondary? I'm in-state but from Southern CA, my stats are all 50-75% according to MSAR....I got a secondary from every where else I applied, including every other UC...I'm just so curious as to what may have been a flag to them but not to anywhere else

Anybody else an early applicant dealing with radio silence here still? Complete 7/15, stats above the median, ECs at davis, & I live 30 min away from the school... lol. This cycle is killing me 🙂
yeah same. Complete 7/14 and actually went to Davis for undergrad. Haven't heard a thing since I submitted my secondary.

Waitlisted. Just received the email. Interviewed end of October.

Good luck to everyone! And goodbye UC Davis!
Not sure if you're just being cynical about saying goodbye/you got accepted to a school you'd rather attend, but UC Davis generally has good wait-list movement. It's a guess, but I would say about 25% of our class got in through the waitlist and that isn't even counting those who got in off the waitlist but then chose to attend a different school, so there is considerable movement.

Really hoping for an II, low 70s LM and complete Late July. They're booked up at this point right? Just handing out IIs as per cancellations?

Not sure if you know the answer! But do you think the WLs will continue to roll out tomorrow? On my interview day they said we'd hear back Dec 15th aka tomorrow so I was surprised to learn that some people heard back today

from norcal and still havent received a secondary, stats seem in line with what they want so not sure what to think :')
same except from so cal. similar thing happened with UCR

Really hoping this week brings us some luck! Also, noticed you comment on the BU thread & I'm right there with ya in this waiting game... 3 decisions all coming in March 😩
Fingers crossed! I think our odds are pretty decent with 3 decisions but it's hard not to freak out hahah

If by norcal you mean the bay, then I dont think really helps your app. Being from Sacramento (or within 30 miles of it) or being from the Central Valley are probably the two geographic locations that truly help your app here. (Not an adcom, but this is my impression)

Not necessarily. A close friend of mine is a Bay Area native (lived there all his life) and got a secondary from UC Davis 2 days after he submitted his primary. He Submitted his AMCAS app to UC Davis on Nov 28 and got his secondary on the morning of Nov 30. Just by studying this thread, I am convinced that someone actually reads AMCAS apps. I’m not sure what their basis of selection is but I wouldn’t be quick to give up hope.

Secondaries that are given out within 24-48 hours of Davis receiving your primary are not read by a human. Those secondaries are automatically screened by a computer and given out. All other applications not passing the computer screen are read by an actual human who then decides to give a secondary or not. Do note that not passing the automatic screen does reduce your chances of receiving a secondary as their automated screen is fine-tuned.

There are many factors that go into the automated screen, it definitely is not just where you are from, so the example of your friend who is from the Bay Area, is not really evidence of anything. What I am mainly saying is that my impression is that you do get a boost to your app if you're from the Sacramento area or from Central Valley. It is less clear being from the Bay. Again, I am not an ADCOM, so I can only offer a student perspective on what I have noticed based on where classmates are from and UC Davis' mission.

II today! complete in mid-september. LM of 72. Earliest interview date was april 2nd.

EDIT: Not april 12, april 2nd. My bad!
Oh my GOSH. RIP any hopes of getting an II. That's so far out. Congrats though!

This school's process / reasoning is a mystery. And a lot of conflicting information out there. I've applied to a bunch and this one is by far the most confounding especially in terms of who does and doesn't get a secondary. And then I look at their step 1 scores and that makes me wonder too.

Curious by what you mean about their step 1 scores?

Greetings kind Sir/Madam. Congratulations on you interview invitation! If you would be so kind, I am respectfully requesting your completion date.
Hello lol! Im sorry I should have been more specific, by call I meant acceptance call

Hey ya'll! Does anyone know if Davis accepts pre-II LOIs? I can't really find the answer anywhere

I believe they don't

LOL. Wow, clear as day. How did I miss that?
Thank you!!

Received a secondary today when I thought I wasn't going to receive one. I added the school in early September. I'm a SoCal resident. So I guess they are still offering secondaries?

I really don't know why they are still sending out secondaries. People have been saying they scheduled interviews as far out as April already.

Save your money bro, all they doing is money grabbing. Interview booked all the way to April and they probably gonna stop sending IIs around Jan or Feb. Save that 100+ dollars and spend it elsewhere

I agree. Seems sus to send a secondary so far out.

Do schools really do that? If they are booked till April, yeah it doesn't make a whole lot of sense. Like I'm assuming my app was probably pre-screened a while ago

Yup they do that all the time. Education is a business, hospital/healthcare is a business. They ain't running a charity here. The way they need to keep their revenue stream during pandemic is 1) increase app cost. You can look search how much last year costed on the internet and compare. 2) Send out more apps, more headcount to meet profit margin quota. Doesn't matter whether you are qualified or not bc they have nothing to lose once you hit that payment button whereas you have everything to lose (money, time, and opportunity etc.)

People say well covid times so you can expect late app invite, that's a lie.
Most schools are running their time line like pre-covid, so yes save yourself and your money.

I feel like if that was the whole truth they would send every single applicant a secondary, but actually so many people, even CA residents, have not received a secondary. If they had no qualms maximizing profits, they would no doubt send every single applicant a secondary. That said, the chances of acceptance to a competitive medical school by being complete at the end of December are no doubt very very low.
