If any current students are here, I have some questions about MCW!

  1. Courses are P/F with NO ranking system correct? (No quartiles or hidden ranking?)
  2. What's the attendance policy for lectures?
  3. How much of course work is group work?
Thank you in advance for answering my questions!

Congratulations to those who have been accepted! If you are sure you will matriculate to MCW class of 2026, please join our facebook group: www.facebook.com/groups/mcw2026/

For those who've been waitlisted, there's usually really good movement towards the end of the cycle, so don't lose hope!
Iv heard that waitlisted movement is minimal?

Also do they put everyone on the wait list or also hand out rejections as well?

Any current students here? I have some questions about financial aid šŸ™‚
Don't have much info for you - I was able to get all the loans I needed no problem but no institutional aid (RIP). Feel free to message me and I'll answer if I can.

1. Correct so far as I can tell at least for pre clinical years. I'm only partway through M1. I think clinical rotations may still be graded but I don't know for sure.
2. During our COVID times attendance in person is only mandatory for anatomy lab and foundations of clinical medicine. We have mandatory case based discussions for other classes that are required to attend synchronously via zoom but main lectures you can watch online whenever since they're recorded. I haven't watched live since the first week.
3. At least for M1 fall, there is a fair amount of small group discussion time, but not a whole lot of group "work" that needs to be turned in.

I got in off waitlist and I've met quite a few other folks who got in off waitlist as well. I'm guessing it varies year by year but don't have any solid info.

Congrats to everyone accepted and WL! Best of luck in the rest of your application cycle and hopefully see you next year.

LM 67-68 Mcat 513. Let me also add this is for a regional campus. It's not over till it's over!
Oooo that really gives me hope. I’m not going for a regional campus but I’m LM 69 (nice) with a 511 and 3.8x. Obviously stats aren’t everything, but after being straight up rejected pre-II by Madison I’m really hoping for MCW. Good luck with your interview!

Thank you! You're right stats are not everything. Good luck on your journey!!!

Howdy, M3 here. I know someone answered you above from the M1 perspective but here are my ~upperclassman~ thoughts:

1. Courses M1/2 are P/F. M3/4 rotations are Honors, High P, P, Fail (they got rid of low pass because it wasn't able to be remediated and looked quite bad for residencies, so they think failing someone and having them remediate for pass is a better option). There are NO rankings, however, even with the M3/4 years. On your transcript you'll see those grades but the GPA will read 0.00 and there's no rank list to be had.

2. Most lectures you can watch 2x speed recorded. As the M1 mentioned, clinical courses are required (anatomy was actually "strongly recommended" my year (pre-Covid), so you technically could skip, but your teammates would probably not appreciate that if you make a habit of it...). M2 year I think I went in person to campus like once a month. Obviously COVID affects this a lot, so it may change for y'all by the time August rolls around.

3. Not a TON of group work, which I actually preferred. Lots of group stuff in clinical experiences, which is where I think it makes the most sense and has the most relevance. Also, MCW has an inter professional education thread where you work with nurses, pharmacists, PAs, etc. in group settings, which is pretty neat too!

Happy to answer any other questions!

P.S. just a word to the wise - I am a student interviewer and was somewhat disappointed when I did not receive any form of thank you note from my applicants. I know maybe these are going out of style, but they can go a long way with showing you care about your interviewers and the experience you had! (Maybe they hated the interview, but still... I love talking... and I love receiving emails from prospective students)

Hello everyone!! I interviewed yesterday and wanted to send thank you letters to my interviewers but i cannot find their emails. Those who interviewed, can someone confirm that they said during the early programing to send thank you letters through the portal?

Thank you and good luck everyone!
Send via portal.

I was sad I hadn't got the update but I just got it so I am glad to know I am still alive

As resourceful as y'all are, you disappoint me. Go check your portals, I haven't received it in my inbox but I saw the email communication through the portal.
