Anyone else interviewed October 5th or earlier and still not heard anything

Hey all, I was complete mid-late September (later than I would have liked, but such is life) and still haven't heard anything. Has anyone who was complete around this time received an II, and if I do receive an II, is it likely that I'm interviewing for a waitlist spot at this point? Thanks much, hope everyone had a nice holiday 🙂

I just received an II and they do tell you you are likely interviewing for a seat on the waitlist in the email.

Does this mean if we interviewed in late October or early November, waitlist is the only possibility? Would be the fourth Big 10 conference school I’d be waitlisted/deferred at :help:

A little off-topic, but here's a question I couldn't find the answer to:

Does UMN have cut-offs for MCAT subsections, or is it just overall? (I do know that the overall cut-off is 499).

There are no explicit subsection cutoffs.

No, they have not sent out the initial 200 acceptances yet. I’m not sure at which point folks will definitely be interviewing for a WL this year, but last year they got through all December interviewees before auto-WLing everyone.

so those of us interviewing end of jan/ early feb are just interviewing for the waitlist...
out of curiosity, why do you say this? did they send an email or something? I interviewed in early December but I'm curious why this is a thought from multiple people!! 🙂

i think someone said it was in the email they send about an interview

Are others past their 12-week post-interview period without hearing back? Wondering if/when it's appropriate to reach out.
I reached out last year after they exceeded the timeline given at my interview. The admissions coordinator was very nice and gave me an updated (albeit still incorrect) timeline. I don't think it will help or hurt in any way, so if it gives you some peace of mind I think its fine to reach out.

Don't be. You did all you could. They are looking for people to construct a class and they just weren't sure just yet if you were one of the pieces. You still might be admitted. I hope it happens for you. Way too early to tell. In the interim, be kind to yourself.

I appreciate this sm, thank you <3

Did anyone actually get an email that said late Jan and early feb are interviewing for the WL? Last year my ii said so which I got in Feb but this year it didn’t and I got the ii email Jan 3rd interviewing Feb 1st!

Yeah, I just received an II on Jan 14th for early Feb interview dates which had language towards the bottom of the II that said people who were interviewing during this time are most likely interviewing for a seat on the waitlist. It didn't specify late Jan/early Feb

According to last years thread, it was this week that people who interviewed on 11/5 heard back so I’m hoping those of us who interviewed on 11/4 this cycle get some good news 🤞Not saying my hopes are up or anything but I’m also not denying checking my email every 10 mins 😅

Hope to hear something soon! I’m still waiting from a 10/14 interview.

IK we can send an update letter the day of our interview, but the email they sent about it was a little weird. Is it okay to add a statement/sentence at the end of the update letter (with actual clinical updates) re-expressing interest?

I think it's ok to briefly reiterate your interest in UMN (I did last year). Since they explicitly do not accept letters of interest or intent, just be gentle with your phrasing at make sure that it's not the focus of the letter.
