Wait is there an interview tracker or something like that?
Hi! Sorry, ig my post was misleading. There is an interview tracker that I haven't looked through, this is just hearsay from another thread, that schools tend to be giving out fewer interview spots this year than in past years. I can't confirm it for NYULISOM though!

oh some schools have an admissions tracker on their websites (# of completed applications, interviews, acceptances) that they update regularly so if NYU-LISOM had one I wanted to go check it out.

I am not sure if NYULISOM has this. Can you send an example for a school that does?

Prob not but does anyone know when in Feb we should be hearing back? Early/mid/late?

on hold post interview. Is it different from "final pool for consideration"? Is it on hold for the final pool for consideration?

+1, don’t know what to make of it but not feeling great about it

Yeah.. I feel like it is a soft R
Hi friends! I think earlier in the cycle some people reported getting a similar email, and then admissions followed up saying that they should have sent the "final consideration" email to them instead, that it was some sort of mistake. Maybe a similar thing happened this time? Has it been 4-6 weeks since your interview?

It was early dec when I had the interview! Hope that is the case. I liked the school a lot

so I looked back through the thread, and people were put on hold, then on a waitlist, then removed from the waitlist... I think It was some kind of administrative error? either way, we will all be hearing back in the next month, so it's not an R until it's an R!

Early December as well, likely the same date as the other user. I’m of course hoping it’s an administrative error as you say, but I’d be surprised that the school hasn’t sorted it out. I suppose it’s not an explicit R yet.

Yet another post-II hold, interviewed 12/14. is there a single one of us that got the final cut email? this was my only II and I'm already deep into reapplication preparation so it doesn't sting that bad but ???????

It sounds like nobody from those interview dates got the post-II "final pool" email? so maybe it's the same thing now that we're so close to the decision day anyways? Idk but I'm sorry this stressful communication was made

Don't apologize- we're all in this together! I'm probably going to take this as a soft R based on the sheer amount of interviewees there are for 20something seats just for the sake of my mental health. Best of luck to everyone else!!

I mean, it's fair that for any communication from this school it's basically an R lmao. Even if we're in the final pool cos there are just so few seats. But hey, to quote the New York lottery, you never know. chances for that might be better than for NYU Long Island

Interviewed 1/7 and got the final pool email today too.
It hasn’t been even two weeks yet so I hope it’s not a mistake.

Congrats! I bet they're speeding things up now so they can consider the 'final pool' as a whole before the first round of decisions next month

Yeah, I really have no clue how you can pick 24 students from such a large pool. Especially for the smaller specialties (obgyn gang rise up) like how do you pick 2 people from a group of 100? Just gotta hope that everyone who gets accepted first has amazing full tuition scholarship offers at other schools and opens up our seats lmao
I know of someone who got offered but ultimately rejected LISOM. it definitely happens.

it honestly feels pure luck at this point tbh. if someone told me to pick 24 students from over 500, i have a very strong feeling that the 24 i picked would change very drastically from one batch to the next. This school has one of the, if not the lowest, post interview A rates. Feels like a disservice to students to offer so many interviews and it makes me question the replicability of their process.
this is still an accomplishment. we made it this far, and everyone who is interviewing has been nothing short of amazing ;D

Can anyone provide more insight to being on hold right now? Is this essentially WL? Is it soft R? So lost and confused.

Congrats to everyone who got the final pool email.

Can you paste the email? I'm surprised they are doing holds esp since they are doing a final pool. I thought the final pool would still be big enough so that when they do pick 24 students out of the pool, many of the final pool applicants would be WL or rejected...

I mean the pool is def that big. I feel like on SDN alone enough people for As and WLs reported being in the final pool, and that's only a fraction of everyone who got that. they seem to hand out lots of WLs the week after the first round of As go out because they get immediate responses from some accepted students saying that they won't be coming. so, there are a lot of us in this pool. we're all swimming at the county pool.

Totally agree with this. Here's the post-II hold email just in case:

The NYULISOM Admission Committee has completed its post-interview of your full credentials. At this time, your application has been placed 'on hold' for possible future consideration later in the admission cycle.

NYULISOM utilizes a holistic review process by which balanced consideration is given to candidates' experiences, attributes and metrics when identifying those who demonstrate the personal, professional and academic readiness to be successful in our unique three-year accelerated program. This year the applicant pool has been exceptionally strong resulting in a number of highly motivated applicants such as yourself being placed 'on hold' after interview. Applicants placed 'on hold' may potentially move into the pool of candidates for consideration for acceptance during the remainder of the admissions cycle. We will notify you should your status change.

We greatly appreciate your continued interest in NYULISOM.

thanks for sharing. to me, this reads like a waitlist? Definitely not an R, given how many people received Rs and how many people will drop their As as they hear back from other schools. This is a tough spot to be in though, and I'm sorry they can't be more clear with you. It already sucks that they interview upwards of 500 people for a class size of 24.

The post that perhaps no one needed, but here we are. To quell my nerves I thought I'd gather what info I could find in one place:

1. So far from my count there have been ~ 30 people reporting 'final pool,' 9 reporting hold, and 3 rejections. Like with other schools, the pool is probably the most representative reporting because people tend to like sharing good news. Since LISOM's process is so weird, I'm thinking more people may have turned toward the forums as well? But still no idea how big the 'pool' is - roughly assuming that 30 is 20% to 25% (total conjecture) maaaybe the pool is around 150 people?

2. We started seeing holds reported in nov, but they seem to be increasingly common on here. Not sure if that's just reporting or if its indicative of a sort of rolling admissions pool ie they had a certain number for the pool in mind and now they're having to put more people on hold.

3. There have been some weird administrative errors so far. The first one happened in october when some people were put on a waitlist and later told they were actually in the final pool. Others at that time made it into the final pool at the same time with no accidental waitlist. They also told one poor soul that they were waitlisted, then final pooled, then held, and then final pooled again. These could just be random errors or they could be indicative of some ranking/number system that accidentally sent notifications to some people depending on cutoffs? Again, totally speculation haha...

4. Interviews ended in January this year, which was earlier than last year. This may mean they interviewed fewer than the previous 500 (which still seems crazy), or just that they were faster/more used to COVID. Edit: sounds like they did interview 500+

That's all I really have to go on at this point! Otherwise I guess we'll just have to wait till next month or if (like in the past) they send any sort of mass email with more communication. It does seem like we can expect first and second round As followed by As off the waitlist for a loooong time as they have to be so careful with the numbers for such a small class. Good luck everyone!!

I got the same email. I agree. We will persevere though. Thanks y'all.

thanks for this 🙂 I interviewed on one of the later dates and wrote down that they specifically said they interviewed/will be interviewing 532 students this cycle

TEARS that's so many people! 🙁 also I think someone asked previously but am curious on if everyone who made the cut had the same wording in their email of having "been selected to be within the top pool of applicants for final consideration for admission" vs just final pool?

Oh NO mine is not worded like that! "I am delighted to inform you the NYULISOM Executive Admissions Committee has completed its review of your full credentials and you have been selected for final consideration for admission for the NYULISOM class entering in 2022." Different meaning or do you think they've changed wording across the cycle? Got that in Nov

Definitely! I'd say about the same- since the final pool is so large, I'm definitely not expecting much with this and had come to terms with being a reapplicant back in November so the sting definitely isn't as bad as anticipated. Sending you all so much luck and good vibes for the final cull!

How is this school's process so confusing?! I also got my email in November unfortunately

Nothing to read into, just be happy you got this email 😅

Ahhh! The uncertainty is killing me. I am applying to a specialty with 2 seats, so maybe that's the difference? Or maybe there's just a top pool and a regular pool AND a hold pool. Really no idea

I also suspect the pool is around 100 to 150 applicants for 24 spots. Because if we check MSAR, they interviewed ~200 for IS and ~300 for OOS. it would be foolish of them to "narrow" down the IS pool to 150 or OOS pool to 200 since they are probably narrowing us down to our MMI and group activity scores
