2021-2022 Stanford

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
Anybody with an II take advantage of the "Optional: If you wish to be connected with a particular faculty or department, please email..." at the bottom of the interview confirmation

Seems odd for a non-MSTP pathway to offer that option at the interview stage.
MD applicant here. I met with a very famous Stanford professor that I have looked up to throughout undergrad. Really cool experience to learn more about Stanford, especially in research.

Sorry if this is a dumb question and I can't read, but anyone else confused about their interview process? Like it looks like they have an MMI circuit, but is there a separate traditional interview where you're interrogated by a faculty member or a med student for like 30mins - 1 hr too?
*PLEASE DON'T QUOTE

it is integrated to it as a 20 min station!

Knight Hennessy video requests start going out now that it is January, right?
Was wondering this also. Anyone who applied KH receive an invite for the video? Likely have to go out in the next 1-2 weeks (if they havent gone out already) if finalist decision is by the 28th

Now that we're approaching decision date territory (MSAR says starting this Friday, Jan 14), I wasted some time tonight compiling the decision dates since 2016 lol:

Historical Stanford Jan Decision Dates
2021: Mon, Jan 25, ~4 pm PST (email invite to Zoom); Wed afternoon, Jan 27 (actual Zoom call)
2020: Wed, Jan 15, ~3 pm PST
2019: Thurs, Feb 7 ~8 pm PST
2018: Tues/Wed, Jan 16-17
2017: Fri, Jan 17, ~5 pm PST
2016: Thurs, Jan 7, ~9 pm PST

Lmao it's kinda all over the place but I figured it'd save people from having to dig too much. Except for last year, they accept thru phone calls from Dr. Gibbs. I really hope they don't do that whole mysterious invite to Zoom call business again this time around...

Was it ever confirmed what that was? I went to the student panel a few months ago, and that night a student I talked to specifically mentioned that as a reason to stay off SDN...they said they were super anxious/worried about not getting a link to the zoom but ended up accepted anyway.

Woah Jan 15th would be amazing. I was anticipating late January

Yeah there was a batch that got accepted via zoom and alot of other people accepted over phone later (specifically the 30th of Jan i believe)

Can anyone who has interviewed here please let me know: Are we allowed to take notes during the 2 mins of prep time when the prompt is being displayed on Kira? Like, can we jot down how we're going to answer? And then during the live time with the MMI interviewer, do they ask follow up questions? Thanks!

Taking notes is for things you need to study and remember. Practice keeping 1-2 talking points in your short-term memory instead of trying to take notes during an interview setting. Use the prep time to think over the prompt instead.

Hey - thanks for your response. I see that is one possible approach. My question however is if we are allowed to take notes, if we want to.

I don't know why you got such a weird response but yeah I can confirm that note-taking is not allowed. However, I agree that it definitely is very helpful when you can because then you can jot down multiple examples to back up your points and not get your thoughts mixed up.

Thank you! That's exactly my approach. I tend to do better if I can jot down a basic outline and some examples to elaborate on later. But you're right - Stanford did not allow note taking.

Good luck to you! Looks like you're having an awesome cycle! 🙂

Following up on this. They said they would release video invitations in January. Has anyone gotten one/know of someone who has gotten one?

Yeah I know one of my friends got one a week ago.

I wonder if theyre actually gonna release today...

Does anyone know if they send post-ii decisions in chronological order of interview date?

I got a video invite on Jan 4th & had my MD Interview on Nov 17th

Dang gg. Guess I'm out of the running for that. Hopefully my low SES will take me through financially if I get that A. COA with no financial help is astronomical.

Is anyone's update (2-week post-interview update/LOR update) portal gone from the Amp page? Just want to confirm it's not just me...

Also gone for me!
Same. So this probably means decisions are coming out soon, right? I remember reading somewhere (could’ve been another school’s website) that the portal is affected right before decisions. But it might’ve said it’s down for a few days, can’t remember. Also, why would it only be the updates tab?

I believe this is because there is a 2-week deadline after the interview to submit any updates. After that you are not allowed to submit any updates. My interview was less than 2 weeks ago, and the updates tab is still showing for me, so if you guys interviewed a while back, that would make sense.

Yeah mine was in Oct but I was able to put updates in all the way till December i believe. So I think they just recently removed it for us.
