2021-2022 Stony Brook

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
Just had the chance to read the files attached to the acceptance. It says they want an intent to enroll by end of November. Is this binding at all?

@noodlechicken1 I know you've probably seen me ask this question in a few threads since you keep disliking my posts (not a callout, I mean no ill-will), but with my senior thesis ramping up I'd rather just make a list of schools I shouldn't expect to head back from to alleviate some anxiety. I can also share the results of my polling once the cycle is over as information for future applicants. I promise, there is a method to my madness

has anyone gotten a pre-II R, or do they make us wait until spring?

This list will probabaly yield more info on schools that give silent vs hard rejection a

Thanks! I saw that thread, but since the data are nearly 8 years old, I figure that double-checking and making a new list may be helpful

Actually the list is still pretty accurate. I have found that admissions processes tend to remain the same from year to year in most cases

There is always room in the general pre-med forum for threads such as the one suggested.
Yes, I understand that and respect the community rules for SDN. However, from the viewpoint of a very busy applicant (on my lunch hour currently), a lot of us don't peruse threads outside of schools we applied to. Personally (n=1), I use SDN when I get an alert of a new post in a school's thread which I applied to, and don't explore general threads outside of that. I believe the premed subreddit is a bit more user-friendly and utilized more for general posts, and SDN is very useful for school-specific discussions. So, in trying to create an up-to-date school list based on my own experience and in the polling of others through the school threads, I've already gotten more responses that relate to the current school practices than when I perused or posted in general forums. The 2014 list of silent/mass rejects in the spring is accurate as far as I can tell, but many of the schools listed as "rolling" have now moved to mass-rejects as far as I can tell from recent threads and my asking around.

I agree and think they/him/her asking these questions is helpful and perfectly reasonable. I never use the other forums...

Apparently, NYS public med schools prefer the motto "I ❤️ NY tax dollars" more than the NYS taxpayer-funded "I ❤️ NY".
Lmaooo deadass. And of course it’s for NY. Go to any other state school and they have so much pride for their in state students.

Did any of you who send the email of intention get a response? I sent it last Thursday with my signed technical standards form and got an automated message.

got an official acknowledgement email a few days later confirming they got the email of intention/standards form to secure my place

What's the interview day format like ?
My interview was open file and 1 hr with an MS2 medical student and 30 mins with a faculty member. Low-stress and I enjoyed my interviews a lot. There's also optional info sessions on Tues and Thurs that you can sign up for, where you initially spend like the first 15 mins or so chatting with med students then hear about the admissions process and financial aid things.

Does anyone know how interview invites are given out (do one/a few people decide who is interviewed or does the committee decide)? Also is CASPer factored into post interview decisions and how much does interview performance matter for admissions decisions?

Do they send all the acceptances at once every wave or one at a time? Suprised nobody else is posting their A
