2023-2024 Lake Erie College of Osteopathic Medicine (Erie, Pennsylvania)

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
OOS II received 9/6, submitted secondary 8/21. Are everyone else's folder items still marked incomplete? I definitely submitted all the necessary stuff there a while ago
Lol the process is very slow- don't worry, you're not the only one. 5/31 submitted app, 6/27 received supplemental application invite, 7/21 received interview invite, 9/6 participated in zoom session, and just today 9/12 my folder items were marked complete.

Could anyone who is a current/former student help answer these questions? I am debating on the school!

1. Are preclinical and clinical years both P/F?
2. Are clinical rotations based on how you do from preclinical years or is it lottery?
3. How are the professors?
4. How is the prep for boards?
5. How long is dedicated time to study for boards?
6. What is the exam schedule like?
7. What is the remediation policy? Is it only one retake and if you fail another course, you repeat or are you dismissed?
8. Is the student environment competitive or chill?
9. What's your favorite thing about LECOM Erie?
10. Are you happy?

THANK YOU!! 🙂

I just got an invite to take a campus tour. Would hurt my application if I'm not able to go?

What I’ve read on the LECOM-B thread is that they were told that not going doesn’t hurt your chances but going does help your chances bc they take attendance at the tour.

Most of these questions are answered during the zoom info sessions if you’re invited to interview! But to answer your first question bc it’s straightforward, grades are not P/F. They’re reported as percentages Aka ABC etc.

Also the exam schedule depends on what learning learning pathway you’re a part of. The traditional pathway has weekly quizzes and monthly exams. PBL has 3 exams a semester. And then there’s a third option that’s a mix between the two.

(Not a current student but I’m applying and have interviewed)

You’re the best thank you so much! My info session is in late October so I was like shoot where do I get this info 😅

Im not sure what to do. I’ve called and emailed several times over the last two weeks because it’s been more than 30 days since my portal updated to “we’ve made a decision and you’ll get it within 30 days” and literally no answer, no call back, nothing.

I’ve had that message on my portal since mid July. Seems like some double standards for professionalism with LECOM.

how much time do you get to submit the video interview? Does it have to be done before the info session?

Hi I got an email after my interview saying that I am highly encouraged to attend the LECOM on campus day event. Does this mean anything or does everyone get sent this lol.

Got the same thing. Pretty sure everyone gets that after the informational session

when did ppl start getting II after file went "under review" ? mine went "under review" on Sept 8

Applied to LECOM Erie. Interviewed and attended Info Session. Status reads “Thanks for interviewing and will be notified when committee makes decision.” Yet, my file folder indicates several unreceived credits/letters/secondary app. Is this a system lag/error? AACOMAS app denotes verified apps, evaluations completed and transcripts arrived. Asking for ED while now I’m worried there’s missing info on the LECOM side. Any advice?

Where do we submit the pathways and decision date form? Do we just email it to admissions or submit somewhere on the portal?

Does anyone know why some are having video interviews and others group interviews? Is it campus dependent?

For those of you who were accepted, do we have to physically mail them the Contingency Acceptance Form or can we send a PDF file to them via email instead?

This wait is agonizing! No update on my portal. I had my information session beginning of August 😭 I selected ED

Just to confirm ED is not binding. You just basically pay to get an answer quicker correct?
Also if your response is a waitlist does that mean you still need to pay?

no, you dont pay unless you get the A. The payment is to reserve your seat. If you're on the waitlist, you don't actually have a seat yet

For people who had their info session on 9/6, anyone's folder items still have ALL Xs? My folder items have not even partially changed (applying for ED).... wondering if someone else is in the same boat.

I had my info session 9/6 and mine have all been marked as reviewed! Maybe reach out to them? I’m also applying ED.

Hi all! I am planning on completing my interview this upcoming week and was hoping for some last-minute clarification. For the "tell me about yourself" question do they pair that with the "why medicine" question too? I am trying to practice my timing for the answers. Also, for the info session, is it acceptable to take notes during it?

I believe there will be a separate question about why medicine/why DO. I am recording tomorrow, so please correct me if I'm wrong.

I just finished my recording, and I felt really awkward looking at my own face😅. For two (or maybe three) of the interview questions, I only spoke for one minute and started to stare at the camera. The questions were not difficult, but the asynchronous interview format was uncomfortable. Good luck to anyone else doing the interview!

Hey everyone ! I have my information zoom session tomorrow , however I didn’t receive a zoom link to attend it yet. Do they send it the day before the session starts ?

I did yesterday and tried calling them and no one is picking up

I would contact Andrea Beers- she’s the admissions rep that seems to be handling all of the zoom meetings: [email protected]
I’ve contacted the general admissions email and phone # before and they usually just seem to be confused, but Andrea has been super super helpful throughout this entire process!!

Wondering if anyone else that has been accepted has run into a similar issue. On the letter sent it says acceptance is contingent on completing a course (which I have completed and must be admin error). I have sent an email and left messages to see if i could sort it out, but have not heard back from them in two weeks. Has this happened to anyone else and how did you get through to them?

I contacted the phone number they had on the letter last week and left a message. I have heard nothing since. I'm just going to go ahead and contact Andrea instead at this point.

Does anyone know if the "Tell me about yourself question" and "why medicine question" is under the same question for the asynchronous interview?

My application was marked complete on Aug. 9th. It said that I should hear from them in 30 days. It has been well over thirty days and I still have not heard anything. Would anyone happen to know what is going on? Thanks!

Hi! From what I have heard, no, they are two separate questions! I think you get 2 minutes for the tell me about yourself question and then the why medicine will be part of the 90 second questions

I have no idea but me too. I’ve called and emailed them for weeks with no response. Super unprofessional. And if they are notoriously behind, then they shouldn’t have given themselves a 30 day deadline.

Hey everyone, I was wondering how likely it is for LECOM reject you if they value the MCAT score over the AIS? To put in perspective, I applied with my mcat and they sent an automated email saying it’s too low and to send AIS as an alternative if I wanted. My AIS is 118, so I sent it anyways. Month later, I got an interview invite from LECOM eerie and I recently completed it. At this point, I thought I was invited for the interview cuz they overlooked my MCAT and that my AIS would have covered the academic competitiveness of my application. However, I’m seeing on sdn and Reddit that they would possibly reject you if your MCAT score is low regardless if you had a high AIS score, since they only utilized AIS as a COVID thing. Also saw that the chances for someone getting accepted solely for their AIS is also rare. I was wondering how true is that 🙁 Does that mean I could possibly get rejected for that same matter ? 🙁

I’m applying through the APAP pathway so my situation is probably a little different than yours but I was flat-out told that literally just submitting an AIS is fine. But I have also been repeatedly told that APAP applicants are considered separately, so if you’re an APAP applicant you’re fine but if you’re not then I’m not sure :/

Does LECOM only give one II to Erie, Elmira, or SH? I have an II for Elmira but is there anyone who has one for Elmira and Erie as well? I have one for Bradenton but it's a different school technically anyways on AACOMAS.

Let me know how this goes because my AIS was 118 as well and I submitted my secondary 44 days ago.

I’m not OP for that question but my AIS is like 128 (can’t remember exactly) and I’ve completed the asynchronous interview and zoom info session, and opted for Early Decision Aka 9/30! I did submit my 2017 MCAT score of 501- not sure if that makes a difference.

Hey, quick question, have your folder items been marked green yet?
