Are lectures mandatory attendance? For PBL? SGL? Both? Do students have to get new housing for rotation sites third and 4th year? How often is a student on campus each week? How large of an emphasis is placed on Omt? Thank you.

Could a current student PM me? I would love to talk about the school and hear about ur personal experiences! Thank you so much.

1st yr SGL here. I like to answer in the main thread so others can read.

PBL does not have lectures (but they do have access to some of the SGL lectures as a resource). They attend 3x weekly case discussion on Mon Wed Fri. PBL does not have cadavers. PBL test much less frequently so they rarely come to campus for exams.

SGL has lectures. They are not mandatory. You can do them entirely via the online recordings (majority) but some people do like to go in-person (minority). SGL also has cadaver lab in-person. SGL has more tests/quizzes etc in-person so that does bring you to campus typically on Friday mornings. Hence, SGL gets more weekends off than the PBL. SGL tests on Fridays every 2-3 weeks. So the weekend immediately after a test, we get to take it fully off with no responsibilities at all. PBL tests every 6-8 weeks, so they have fewer weekends where they can truly do nothing. Given that SGL has multiple exams per unit, you can work up a cushion to your grade, so I do feel that we're under less pressure academically.

Overall, SGL is on campus less than PBL but there's much more variance, I can have several days in a row where I don't go to campus at all (which the PBL never gets to do) which is nice for travel. SGL can sleep-in more often because we typically only have 1-2 morning sessions a week vs PBL who always have a minimum of 3 morning sessions. I do feel that the workflow for PBL is more consistent day-to-day, but they also can take a day fully off without getting behind, unlike the SGL where your schedule is more set in stone.

Each group goes for OMM Lab 1x a week. OMM I'd say is light/moderate, hard to compare to other DO schools given that I can only attend 1. Practical exams on techniques + written questions on our main exams (usually serves as a grade-booster).

My short answer is: SGL has to be on campus slightly less. BUT ultimately it is student-dependent. If you study on campus + do research and clubs, you'll always be on campus. That's true regardless of curriculum choice.

As for the rotation sites, haven't been through it myself so take this with a grain of salt. Most of the upperclassmen seem happy with the process. Most stay in South Jersey (especially with the affiliation with Virtua), with some going up to Central or North Jersey. Farthest South you can go is Delaware.

Interesting! Ty for the info. Just to clarify, do people have to move into a new location for clinical rotations? Or can u spend the whole 3rd year at one site doing the different rotations? Thank you.

Ah I see what you mean. You can spend the entire year at one site. Nobody is moving around during the year (that I'm aware of).

Is an acceptance deposit to Rowan binding? Already got into a top choice school but if Rowan gives me a better financial aid I would be stupid to not pay the deposit

Could any current students give insight on when accepted students can find out any financial aid/scholarship information? Does it come by email?

Hey guys, I couldn't make the interview orientation on Monday because of a scheduling conflict at work. Do you guys know if they will host another one in January?

Call them and they'll work with you to schedule another one. They were pretty accommodating when I asked

Hey everyone, I recently received an II, and I’m scheduled for two weeks. My question is, I just received an email from admissions regarding the mandatory orientation session for next week, but I have another interview scheduled at that time. Rowan is my top choice, and I don’t want to affect my chances in any way negatively. Do you think requesting another orientation session will cause an issue? Thank you!

It should not be an issue. I had work during the orientation meeting, and I just called and they were able to quickly change my orientation date! I was also accepted before my orientation date so i can safely say that getting another orientation date will not negatively impact your chances lol

Congratulations!!!! Do you mind sharing stats or completion date?!

Does anyone know how far out they’re scheduling interviews? My invite said they’re working on interview dates, so just trying to get an idea of around when it’ll be

secondary submitted 9/9, file completed 11/3. Emailed them since I've seen other people that had their file completed after mine get interviews and was wondering if this is happening to others? I haven't recieved a rejection but am getting a bit flustered since it took forever for them to check my file complete and still nothing

I submitted my secondary in October and I’m still not complete. It’s just making me think they’re extremely behind. I’m not sure what’s going on

Try giving them a call and see if there is anything you can do.

Has anyone who interviewed during the first week of this month heard back yet? Does the committee meet each week to discuss post-interview?

I submitted my secondary in early November. My application was still marked incomplete until today. Prior to that, my application was not complete because my LORs had not been reviewed (even though I had sent them with everything else). It wasn't until I sent Rowan an email last week that they corrected it. I'm so annoyed. Does this mean that my application has been moved to the bottom of the pile for admission review because of a mistake on their part?!

I had sent my letters with everything too other schools got them way before but rowan didnt complete my file until novermber... so I also feel like it got moved since people that have applied way after are getting emails

Damn, that really sucks. It's so frustrating. Looking at previous comments, it seems like they're having major issues running behind and not completing applications for review. I'm going to give them a call tomorrow to clarify the status of my application.

Please keep me updated! I had emailed them oct 26 "I applied to RowanSOM around September 9th. It said to give it about 2-4 weeks to complete the application. I noticed that my checklist says that my letter of references are still not in and I was wondering if there was something I had to do on my end. Please let me know if I did this incorrectly, thank you. ". they replied nov 3 Thank you for your email regarding your letters of recommendation. Your letters have been received and reviewed and are now marked complete.
lol I pretty much sent the same email you did and got a nearly exact email back "Thank you for your email regarding your letters of recommendation. Your statement has been added and your letters are now marked complete."

I will give an update after I call!

lmfao thank you!

So how far are they scheduling interviews out currently? I got the II last week, still waiting for my date.

Ok, so I had specifically asked "if the issue was fixed yesterday and it was marked complete yesterday, would my application be placed in the bottom of the application pile for review? Would it be like I submitted it just yesterday?". She told me no, they are aware of the date I had initially submitted it. The applications go through several processes of review and they will be sending out interview invites until May.

Hope it's true :/ We just have to wait now.

Can someone talk about their experience in the PBL track at Rowan? I'm not sure what exactly you are learning from if there are no slides. Also is it possible to switch tracks, and if it is when should I ideally request to?

I emailed them asking like if they had an error with the letters and then also if they’re going out of order for applications because why are people who applied later hearing back first and all if it was ignored LOL just got a “Ur app is done under review and you’ll hear back until May”

i started a post-bacc program last year, was taking a summer class when I sent in my application, so I didn't have an official transcript to send. after the semester(s) ended, I uploaded unofficial transcripts to the portal as updates, but I just realized - I never ordered an official transcript to be sent to aacomas until just recently. did I screw up?

Not sure, but I wouldn't say so. Don't trad students need to wait till they graduate to send in final official transcripts anyway? just a thought

See if academic update is still open

I had a few questions about the interview. How did it go? What kind of questions did they ask you? And when they say it was conversational, did they add comments to make it more pleasant instead of just asking and moving on? Thank you in advance!

+1 I also got the email today with dates for the interview!! My interview offer was 1/9 like everybody else, but I was able to schedule myself for this coming Wednesday 1/31
