2023-2024 Washington University in St. Louis

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
How do we do thank you notes here? I didn't get emails for my interviewers and there isn't a section to upload it in the AMP portal.

Has the app portal status always said "your application has been processed"? Checked just now, wondering if this changed from the "your application is complete" (provided that was ever there).

Mine also says this. Pretty sure it's always said this but not 100% sure

Anybody know if we're expected to be in formal attire for the evening info sessions? I interviewed today but the next "financing your medical education" Zoom is next week and I don't really want to dress in a suit on a separate date for a 30-min group presentation if not necessary

I found this in their invitation to register for the session email "Casual dress is recommended."

Is it just me or are asynchronous video interviews like kira just soooo much worse than real synchronous interviews? I feel like I bombed the kira interview LOL
Same. I think I did reasonably well with my two real interviews but was stuttering and stumbling during my video ones and got cut off just before I finished my last sentence for one of them... they weren't even hard, I dunno what happened to me honestly. I think I just need another human to be present in order for the social part of my brain to turn on

+1😭😭 especially the last question too I ran out of time

Thank God I was sure I couldn't be alone in this, easy enough questions but somehow even harder than regular MMI's. barely any time to provide a half cohesive answer. I'm worried i came off like a robot

They recorded the session - not sure where/when it’s available. It was basically just a Q&A about their curriculum, specifically their faculty coaching program. Essentially, M1s are randomly assigned to a coaching group with 7 other M1s and they meet once weekly through Phase 1 of the curriculum and eventually meetings wean to one every ~8 weeks in line with the end of each clinical rotation. Coaches are MDs/DOs who are ultimately there to be like a big brother/sister — they can help you connect with other people for research/service/etc. but they’re mostly there to talk through difficulties you’re having e.g. difficult patient interactions, homesickness, failing a block etc. One student on the panel described her group as similar to a group therapy session. That’s the gist, you can find more detail assuming they post the recording at some point
Would attest to the coaching sessions being akin to group therapy lol, they're definitely good settings to talk through things and get some external perspective on whatever you're going through. My group also has a rule that whatever happens or is said during coaching stays in coaching, so we get the space and time to be candid with each other.

At least in my case though they aren't strictly weekly (I want to say they've been about every other week recently, the frequency could ramp back up later though). Some of the coaching sessions are also 1-on-1s between you and your coach to review video recordings of your Standardized Patient sessions

Also will throw my hat in the ring here now that interview season kicks into high gear: Happy to answer more questions in general via DM if y'all have any esp. as it pertains to the MSTP (and yes, if you really want to ask about the MSTP panel interview...you can ask about the panel interview. it's not as scary as it looks). The Why WashU Wednesdays being sent out to literally everyone this year is wild, I have no idea why they're doing that

I wanted to follow up on this. Should we just email the admissions office with the letters, or is there another way to send them?

because they wanted to take 10 years off my life

Admissions release dates have been published. Nothing like spending Christmas in absolute terror with decisions potentially coming out the very next day.
I seem to recall that if you interview by a certain date you may get your decision in December and if you interview later you may hear in Feb; does anyone know when that cut-off would be? I interview in Nov so hopefully I hear back by Christmas!

I was told at one of the interview day info sessions that the interview date doesn't directly correspond to when you hear back—you could be given a decision at an earlier round or a later one

That's true, but I was pretty sure there was a cutoff where if you interview past a certain date, the earliest you would hear back is February. I could be wrong though

Are the interviews both open file or is one open and the other is closed?

Do we know if anyone gotten any decision results post interview?

For the four rounds of "admission decisions", are only acceptances released? Or would interviewees also receive waitlists and/or rejections on this day?

Did anyone who interviewed have issues submitting the agreement on the portal before accessing the “start interview” page? I’m getting an error message and worried about being able to contact admission office before my interview Monday morning.
