Thanks! Did u submit like a letter of intent or a letter of interest after being waitlisted?
Funny story, I actually scheduled some new shadowing with a DO and was going to send a letter a couple days after I shadowed. But I got off the waitlist literally the next day after I shadowed so never ended up sending a letter.

Does anyone know if and when there will be movement from the alternate list
The 2023-2024 thread said there is lots of movement in the beginning of May. I believe that's the last month to submit your enrollment fee and it's likely other schools are moving people off of waitlists as well as people decide to withdrawal.

How did you all dress for the mandatory admissions orientation? Did you all wear the same attire for the interview?

had my interview on Feb 11 and no response yet. starting to think it’s either an R or WL 😅

I interviewed Feb 20th and was waitlisted March 03. I would reach out to the committee. I was expecting a waitlist anyways because the class is full. We're all waiting on withdrawals now.

Are they finished with interviews? I applied to 11 DO schools, and this was my in-state option, and it happens to be the only one that hasn't offered me an interview 😕

I don't think so. I looked at last years SDN and they interviewed people all the way into April- end of April. Still good shot. Also I think their primary application ends next week.

is there actually no more high priority waitlists at rowan? only just waitlists? how would it impact for this class considering hpwl applicants last year would be guaranteed a seat for this cycle -- supposing some of those hpwl applicants didn't get accepted during their cycle?

i just called admissions and they said no HPWL this year. i also asked about ranking for the alternate list but they said they can’t disclose that information

I’d imagine the Hpwl from last year were the first batch of ppl accepted assuming they agreed to the deferred acceptance.
Did anyone on the alternate list receive an invite to a “Second Look” webinar / know what that is for?
Literally what it says. It’s a webinar meant for ppl on WL. Don’t think too much of it and treat it like any of the other student led information sessions they’ve hosted.

Same position, this was my instate DO school and I received 15 other DO interviews out of state but haven't heard anything from Rowan.

Hi! Did Rowan email any accepted students today with information about the secondary deadline coming up?

Edit: the sent a follow up saying it was sent erroneously.

got an email today saying its not too late to submit a secondary here (deadline is March 15th according to the email)- should I try or is it not worth it at this point?

If you think your stats are sufficient then why not. Last year someone interviewed, was waitlisted and pulled off within two days the same week. Their stats were very good though. It also depends on if you're ok with a net loss of maybe $200-300.

when did they apply?

when did they apply?
I keep seeing posts like this pop up during this month. While it’s each their own to decide what they want to do, my 2 cents, I don’t like responses like “why not” or you got nothing to lose from people. The timing is not ideal for a rolling application school regardless of your stats and if you don’t get in this year it makes you a reapplicant to this school which only makes it harder for you come the next cycle. Weigh your pros and cons and determine what is ideal for your situation.

Obviously this isn't just towards me but this reads passive aggressively. Honestly, we share similar views and have framed things differently. I get the sense that the people asking this question aren’t truly looking for an answer, but rather are just trying to find anything that might justify the decision they're leaning towards. If they genuinely cared, they would have done a comprehensive search of previous late application experiences in addition to posting about specific application concerns.

Many of us live with the belief that life must follow a specific path to be 'perfect,' as though there’s some ideal timeline we’re supposed to follow. But what I learned from the military is that no matter how carefully you plan, life has a way of throwing curveballs. Things don’t always go as expected, and in the end, you have to adapt and deal with it.

I don’t see anything wrong with submitting a single application if you truly believe your application is stellar. And when the next application cycle comes around, I don’t think there's anything wrong with being honest about it, saying that this was your dream school, that you got your MCAT scores at the end of the application cycle and wanted to see if you could get in earlier; even though you knew the chances were slim.

Nicely said.
I had concerns about applying late, back in October, so I scheduled a consultation call with admissions. I asked if being a reapplicant next cycle—since I'm applying late and know my chances of getting in are slimmer for this cycle—would be seen as a disadvantage/hurt me in the long run. The admissions advisor reassured me that it wouldn’t be, and if anything, it would demonstrate my commitment to attending their school.

I appreciate your perspective, and want to clarify that I did not mean to come across as passive-aggressive, and I deeply apologize if you or others felt that way. I’ve seen a lot of similar posts and responses on this topic, so I felt it was worth sharing my thoughts.

My goal was to simply provide a realistic outlook for someone considering applying this late to this school. I agree with you that life doesn't go as planned, but when it comes to med school apps, timing is critical.

The fact is, March is considered extremely late for rolling admission based schools, even DOs. Include the fact RowanSOM is largely considered the top osteopathic school in the region, and it becomes even more difficult. By this point, most seats have been filled, and any remaining spots are highly selective. Outliers exist each year, but I don’t believe that’s enough justification to submit an application at this point without considering the broader implications.

If OP does has a stellar application, I believe that if applying this late, he/she will be selling themselves short, as they are not going to be evaluated as fairly as if they applied earlier in the cycle with more spots. It's not impossible, but highly unlikely. It's up to OP if it's worth those chances. I would recommend for most applicants, to apply the next cycle to have the best chances with this school and others.

Lastly, being a re-applicant isn't inherently bad. Many folks get in a school the next year or future cycles. But programs want to see growth, improvements, ECs, since the last time they seen your app, not to mention having to rewrite your secondary essays. Depending on his/her life circumstances, it might not be possible to show improvement in a short period of time.

Everyone's situation is different, and if they choose to apply is ultimately their decision. I just wanted them to be fully informed to make the best choice for their own future.

Congrats!! Do you mind sharing if there’s anything you did that you think helped your wl movement?

I didn’t send any letters post-interview but had a good interview overall, I think they may be giving As as people withdraw

did you guys get a call or email to let you know you got taken off?

are they still interviewing, submitted my app + secondary early in the cycle not rejected atm

+1 Alternate list. Do I even have to bother attending mandatory orientation meeting as a WL applicant?
