Would love any ideas on how to decide between the two - I loved them both on interview day!

If you're more interested in research, go with Duke. Think about location also since both of these are really great schools.

I'm a bored MS4 cruising the forums. First off congrats! You're obviously smart and are most likely going to do well anywhere.

For the purposes of residency and future life/career decisions, both schools are about equal--they are both top notch. So prioritize based on the following:

1. $

2. Gut feel. Don't go to a school with d bags.

3. Curriculum. Make sure it works for you. Does duke still do all basic sciences in 1 year? Make sure you're cool with that.

4. Location. I think it's nice to be closer to family, or at least somewhere you will truly enjoy living. Contrary to popular belief, you'll have free time during med school.

5. Grading policy. Pass fail during the first 2 years makes life easier.

Also re: research. They're both powerhouses. it's a non issue here.

Good luck. In the end it isn't about where you go, but what you do when you get there.

I'm obviously partial given that I attend WashU, but my objective advice would be:

- Any ideas on specialties? If peds is at all on your list, WashU >> Duke (http://health.usnews.com/health-new...11-12-best-childrens-hospitals-the-honor-roll)

- As mentioned before, the research at both places is great. I can speak highly of the access to both clinical and wet lab experience and funding at WashU, but I have nothing negative to say about Duke.

- And from before, is $$ different at either place?
