Hello. I wanted to ask the folks here a question.
This morning, I found out that one of my transcripts on OptomCAS wasn’t sent. I did it today, but I still have to get my transcripts verified...and then my application verified, which will push me into November.
After that, I have an OAT for...

OK I am very worried. My undergrad GPA is a 2.99ish. I feel angry at myself that I wanted to be Dr. the last minute. Even if I do a career change post-bacc with 43-46 credits and get around 3.7 to 4.0 GPA, it will only bring up my GPA to 3.1 to 3.2 ish, which is still pretty bad.
My question is...
Ahoy all,
I am a sophomore at the University of Wisconsin. However, I have always wanted to go to medical school in New York. It's been my dream long before I was even in high school, believe it or not! I am looking for some advice from anybody who has been admitted to NYU Grossman School of...
Hi, all. I have heard some talk about admissions committees meeting very infrequently at some schools (e.g. once a month) and am confused about how this works. Does this mean if they meet, say, when info is transmitted this year on July 10th, everyone who was verified on the day of July 11th is...
Out of these programs, which program would prepare me the best for dental school (in poll)? Which program would look the best to a dental school? I understand it depends on the success of the program, how well I could do, and what I enjoy, but I am looking for an outside opinion that I may not...
Current Junior applying from UGA. My original state of residence is also Georgia, I have a 3.91 and a 513. My clinical shadowing and volunteering is really solid and my non clinical volunteering is also strong. Additionally I have held a couple leadership positions and have done rowing for 8...
Hello Everyone!
I am looking for some opinions
I am currently doing a do-it-yourself postbac and have finished last semester with 3 A's and 2 B's. I will be finishing this semester with 4 A's and 1 B (in a non-prereq course). I was thinking of taking a pass on the B because I am trying to...

Hi all!
I recently got accepted to several schools that has a program like 0-6 or at least like an early assurance program. I know that this field has been over saturated, and unemployed pharmacists are everywhere but I have always wanted to become a pharmacist. So pls help me out.
For now I...
I plan to apply for MD PhD programs my senior year (taking a Gap year). My two top schools are Emory and Stanford. I currently have a 4.0 GPA and I’m a junior. I’ve been doing research since the summer of freshman year, each semester. I also got into Mayo Clinic’s summer fellowship for this...
I will preface by saying you're going to read this and probably say yikes. That is fine but its too late now I decided that I'm applying this cycle what matters here now is strategy to overcome my 1% chance of getting in. So I will do my best to give a picture of me as an applicant then give me...
Hi everyone,
I just got into both SCCO and UC Berkeley for the class of 2024 :) But I am very torn between the two so any insight would be extremely helpful!
SCCO
Pros:
- can save money on commuting; college is only 15 min away and clinic is even closer at 8 min away
- great city/feel...

Hi all,
I've posted some stuff like this in the past, but now I have more concrete details that I was hoping would help people give me some better opinions. I will likely be applying to programs this upcoming cycle, and was hoping to get some insight.
My problem: I feel like I wouldn't be...
Hi folks, I am actually pre-dental, but figured this would be more relevant here. I am applying to the Warren Alpert Gateway program for Medical Sciences at Brown University. The application is due mid May, but the program does not start until mid to late July. Would I have to be completely...
I graduated from undergrad in May and have been taking time to work before applying to schools. I intend to apply June 2020, but I have some questions about the physics prereq that I didn’t quite finish in undergrad.
I used AP credits in undergrad to cover my physics 1 and physics 1 lab...
I haven't seen a thread for HBCU MOT programs so I'm starting a thread. Feel free to share stats, interview dates, acceptance etc.
Here are my stats:
Undergraduate: Texas State University
Major: Exercise Sports Science
Overall GPA: 3.35
Graduating School GPA: 3.38
GRE Scores: 185 Overall (138...
My GPA keeps dropping! I’m scared to death. My GPA before I took Physics 2 & Organic Chemistry 2 was 3.34. I got C’s in both of those, then it dropped to a 3.31.
Once I took Biochemistry, for a C in that, and got more B’s than C’s in my other classes that semester it dropped to a 3.28.
I just...
Hi y'all,
Ive been a dental assistant for almost 4 years and I have my x-ray license. I hope to apply to dental school next cycle. I've noticed almost all schools require about 100 shadowing hours. Since I've been working for some time now, I think I have a pretty decent amount of...
Hi! I recently applied to the Rutgers Occupational therapy assistant program and I was called back for an interview and group activity. I was wondering if anyone has any advice as to what questions to prepare for? Or how to prepare for a group activity? Any advice from Rutgers students or any...
Hey all,
So I have known for a little over a year now that I want to pursue a career in aerospace medicine, specifically to study and treat the health conditions associated with space travel.
I am concerned about how this will look to medical schools, as all of them seem very focused on...
I’ve been accepted into Columbia’s postbacc program. It seems great, but it’s VERY expensive. Around $80,000 for the two years (which I can pay for but yikes). Fordham also has a postbacc which is significantly cheaper. But I can’t seem to get a good sense of how much of an advantage I would be...

Hey everyone, I am a first generation native student from a rural area who recently graduated with my B.S. in Cellular and Molecular Biology along with a couple minors. I am currently in the process of applying to dental school but I am extremely worried about my gpa. Long story short, I was...
If anyone has an idea of how common any of the following are in applicants who apply to Top 10 schools, I would love to hear your thoughts (I admit I'm a bit clueless myself) - thanks!
(1) MCAT > 520 (it seems like half this board has MCAT's higher?)
(2) First author publication, Sole First...
So the breakdown. I am instate but i can commute from home from Temple about 40 minutes drive. Pitts much further will have to dorm there. I am financially completely on my own, parents would not be able to contribute much.
I want to know if there is a difference in getting a job afterwards. If...
When medical school look at your science GPA, are they only looking at the prerequisite classes relating to science that they only care about, or are they looking at all of your science courses including the advanced ones?
Hey everyone,
I have a quick question regarding admissions for fall 2019 entrance. Does anyone know if students who apply later in the cycle generally get less scholarships? I have recently decided I want to go the podiatry route rather than MD/DO, and I'm graduating this coming May. I'd like to...
Hi everyone!
I decided to start a thread for the upcoming application process. Feel free to share any questions about stats, the application process, and other things!
Hi all,
I was lucky enough to be accepted to all the dental schools I applied to, and have narrowed it down to three (which I have already put down deposits for). However, I am struggling severely with which school to choose. I want to specialize- and am specifically interested in OMFS- so...
Hi there,
Currently applying to optometry school and curious about my chances.
Overall GPA: 2.9
Science GPA: 2.61
OAT: 340 AA/ 340 TS
I have about 300 hours of optometric work/shadowing experience and 400 hours of volunteer experience.
Anyone know if there's even a chance for me to get an...
Currently debating between MD and MD/PhD. I understand the differences between the programs, and I'm really leaning towards MD/PhD because I've loved my research experiences as an undergrad. My biggest kicker (I think) is that I first authored a paper accepted by a pretty high impact factor...
Hi guys, I was put on hold pre-interview for my top school last week:(. Since I haven't had an interview yet I felt it was a bit premature to write an LOI at this point but I've pretty much made up my mind that I am going to call the admissions office this week to hopefully boost my chance even...
Hi,
I was wondering how important Thank You Letters/Emails are for admissions evaluations? I recently interviewed at Yale but it has been about a week since my interview. I do not want to botch the letter and accidentally say something that affects my chances, but my neurotic self is worried...
I do not have documentation for every site/all of my observation hours that I have done and recorded in OTCAS. Will schools make me verify the hours or have written proof of hours if I am considered or accepted? Just curious so I can properly prepare myself!
I am currently completing my PharmD and plan on applying to medical school next year. Since the PharmD curriculum does not include all of required courses for medical school eligibility, I was told by my advisor that I would need to complete a pre-medical minor in order to meet the necessary...
I was wondering if anybody has thoughts on whether undergraduate honors degrees give an advantage (or disadvantage; or no help at all) when applying to medical school.
The program I am in requires students to do extra work for what seems like little return. Also a year long thesis is required...
Do I have to have an internship to get into medical school? I have volunteered at clinics and children advocacy groups, but do I need an internship to get into medical school?
Hi all,
So I graduated high school in 2017 with a good GPA, and enrolled at a community college for the fall of 2017 online. I did not complete my first semester of community college and essentially failed (I should not have done it online; this was my fault as I managed my time poorly)...
