I was thinking of retaking some of my old classes i took almost 4 years ago at a UCSD. I know some schools don't even consider retaken courses but if i can boost pharmCAS GPA and show that i can do better will the see as "plus" on my application?
I applied for MD/PhD last cycle and did not get any interviews or acceptances.
I think I know where my weaknesses are - MCAT and GPA.
My undergrad GPA was poor as I was ill most of the time, but postbac work proved I could do better (3.9 for three years).

I got a C+ in general chemistry II my freshman year and I just graduated in December. It seems like most DO schools require a retake if you get a C or below in the required prereqs, but if retaking the C+ course as part of an informal post-bac will raise my sGPA faster than just taking extra...
Hi all,
I'm pretty new here and this is my first post. Anyway, I need some advice, and it's a bit complicated but all advice is appreciated.
I'm a freshman pre-med at a T-20 University (I would share the name, but I see people avoid doing that) and I've been struggling a bit. I got a B in my...
Hey folks, so I was a chemistry major in undergrad and I'm looking to apply to DO school in the next few years. A priority is definitely retaking some classes to increase my sGPA, which is around 3.0 right now. Is it foolish to retake genchem II (which I got a C+ in) even though I was a chem...
I took the mcat before I was totally prepared because I wanted to be considered by a certain grad program for this cycle (ended up deciding to not even apply to that program for financial reasons). Anyways, I ended up getting a 514 (Bio:128, Physical:125, Verbal:131, Psych:130). I was pretty...
Hello.
Wondering about retaking the mcat.
Overall 506
Chem/phys 124 :(
Verbal 126
Biol 130
Psych 126
Gpa 3.45 biology with upward trend
I'm pretty bummed because I was getting 126 in my chem/phys and also usually scored 128 on my verbal in practice exams. I was definitely affected by...
Hi everyone,
I would really like some advice. :( Tomorrow I am writing the Canadian DAT for the first time and I am completely unprepared (Note: I have written the American one before and scored TS 21/AA 20). I am taking 6 classes and since all my midterms aligned around this time, I prepared...
First time poster.
Background: I graduated from UD this past may and am looking to apply for DO school not this cycle but the following one.
I need to retake orgo II seeing as I got a C-, and I want to retake another course that I didn't do so hot in.
My questions:
1) Must the class of...
How soon can we schedule for a retake? Can we register for April/May? When I click on register, it just brings up my exam confirmation for January.
Do we have to wait for after our scores come back? Or can we only register for June and onwards?
First time taker, so any advice from retakers is...
Hi,
So I'm very confused over the current state of the NAPLEX. I think it's great news that the exam won't officially be changing to the longer 240 question version until later this year. However, that still leaves me wondering what exactly the test is like now?
I will be taking the NAPLEX...
Hey guys,
So here is my situation:
Plan to retake MCAT -- not scoring any higher than first time around.
Applied and got interviews and acceptances at Kent and Barry; waitlisted for an interview at Midwestern. I had NYCPM and Scholl on hold for my new score.
Is it a bad idea to not go through...
hey everyone!
how much of Ochem 2 builds on o chem 1? The reason I'm asking is that I’m trying to decide if i should retake ochem 1, not necessarily to get a better grade (I got a C), but because if it builds into o chem 2 a lot, i would rather do o chem 1 again, just so I don't struggle in o...
Hi, so I have a terrible science GPA mainly because I got C's in almost all of my basic science coursework (my other basics are only B's, not even A's), so I am heavily considering doing a DIY postbacc and retaking all of that basic coursework. Will it be poorly reflected on DO applications that...
My retake is coming up this month :nailbiting: and I'm starting to get worried since my TPR FL scores are dropping. I've heard the general consensus is that TPR Demo & Review exams are harder than most of the Course & Complete ones, so I'm having trouble tracking my progress.
Do you guys think...
I didn't do so well on the DAT the first time, I am determined to retake it again.
The first time, I did sort of rush through last minute studying, and I figured since I always do well under pressure, it wasn't the case this time.
Since my QR score was beyond horrible, I got Math Destroyer...
Hello,
I was wondering if I should retake Organic Chemistry II for a third time?
I took Organic Chem I and II in a semester system school (University of California, Merced). The grades i received were:
CHEM 008 Principles of Organic Chemistry (lab was part of the lecture)(O-Chem I) 4 units...
I got a 514 - 130/125/131/128 and was wondering if I should retake since my CARS is so low. Is it worth risking this to improve CARS if it's possible my score could be lower than 514 overall the second time? I've heard CARS is very important.
Hi! I'm an IMG, and have been studying for step 1 for the past 6 months (I did kaplan lecture noted and videos first) and for the past 3 months I have been doing only Kaplan qbank + FA. My qbank average is 51% and I am almost done with the entire qbank.
I did uwsa 1 about three months ago and...
Hopefully not too long of a read, tried to be as brief as possible.:)
I'm currently in my first semester of the second year at a local community college. I've heard that some med schools don't care while others do, but I'm not going to dive into that. I've already been accepted to two of my top...
I'm applying this cycle, I submitted my app in July and my DAT score in late August. I got a 19AA 20TS 15PAT. Planned to retake because of the low PAT, but I've gotten 2 interviews so far (Houston, San Antonio). I have a high gpa 3.97 overall 3.94 science, lots of volunteer and dental...
I just found out that I got a 71 and have to retake the CPJE. I used Weissman, Rxprep, and ebay Pharmacy Charts to prepare for the exam. I studied by writing things out, but that does not seem to be enough. I was wondering if anyone could provide any tips on how to study for the Pharmacy...
So I got my MCAT score yesterday and I got a 505.
Chem/physics 127
Verbal 127
Bio 127
Pysch 124 (yeah I don't know how that happened...)
I don't know if I should retake or not. Looking at online converters I got a 29/30. I am aware that the average MCAT to be "competitive" is a 31. What do you...
Should I retake?
I just got my scores back for the August exam and scored :
Chem/Phys 127 (79%)
CARS: 125 (58%)
Bio/Biochem: 126 (67%)
Psych/Soc: 128 (86%)
overall: 506 (71%)
I have a 3.8 overall gpa, and 3.8 science gpa. I have a bunch of hospital volunteering, I have a lab research position...
Here is my raw score
MCAT So Damn Hard. One of the hardest exams I have taken in my life. To be honest one has to prepare by reading a lot of research papers.
MCAT, after 1 full month prep,
Chemical and Physical, 125 , 55%
Biological, 125, 54%
Critical analysis, 122, 22%
Behavioraal, 128...

Hi guys,
I have several questions I have regarding taking classes after undergraduate.
So, I recently graduated from my university, and at this point, since my GPA isn't very pretty, I decided to take classes via University Extension at UC Davis (my alma mater). I majored in Neurobiology...
Chem and Physics - 128 (87%)
CARS - 125 (58%)
Bio - 129 (93%)
Psych/Soc - 130 (97%)
Overall GPA: 3.86 (Still have two semesters to bring up)
Wanting to apply to Texas medical schools. My #1 is Baylor, but I'd be perfectly happy with UT Houston or UTSA. Should I roll the dice and retake the MCAT?
Will have at the time of application:
Academic
GPA: ~3.6c, ~3.5s
MCAT: (took August 2015): 128/130/128/130 = 516. 95th percentile. Apparently ~34-35 on the old scale.
Currently a senior, will be taking one gap year
Activities
~150 hours clinical volunteering (ED and hospice)
~40 hours...
