I might be wrong, but I was researching Jefferson recently to get more info for my interview, and I remember reading something like this: in 2006 70% of the class came off waitlist, in 2007 only 5 people came off waitlist...so I guess it really depends on a year.

LOL. I don't know what you were reading, but you either badly misread it or what you were reading is a total crock.

anyone know about what percent come off the waitlist at jefferson?

got waitlisted today. i think i remember them saying they interview about 800 and their class is 255. anyone know about how many acceptances they offer or waitlist info?

thanks.

Are you "high priority" or regular waitlist? If you are not on the high priority wait list, your chances of getting off the wait list are between slim and none. Over the last two admission cycles, there were quite a few "high priority" people who didn't get in. And, except for certain special category situations, people on the high priority list get taken first.

Different school. That comment came from the GWU thread.

i am in the "high priority" category. i actually didn't realize there was a difference between this and just being waitlisted.

It was probably a different school, GWU as someone else posted...Sorry for providing wrong info 😳

From applying to them last year, I got the impression that they do most of their interviews form January to April.

So I'm trying to pay my fee for my secondary application, and it keeps on denying me. Anyone have any suggestions?

They only interview once a week (Wednesday) every week from October to the end of March.

I have my interview this wednesday, and I was wondering if anyone knows how many people are in each interview group?

30 people, at least that's how many people I had in my group.

complete aug 1st here, and still waiting

No offense to you whatsoever, but I doubt they're going to interview you, because your stats are way too high (4.0/39). Those numbers are so far above their averages that they probably strongly suspect they're a safety school for you, and you'd be unlikely to attend if accepted.

And you don't even need a "safety" anymore, since you've already been accepted at a couple of other schools. So what is it that attracts you to Jefferson?

I agree. If for some reason you have a particular interest in attending Jeff, I would write/email Dr. Callahan and let her know why you applied to Jeff. Otherwise, don't wait by the phone.

I interviewed at Jefferson with similar stats as Dulcina so I don't think that they weed out people because their stats are too high. I got waitlisted and decided not to stay on the list because of other acceptances but I actually really liked Jefferson- their focus on community outreach, an amazing student-run clinic, JeffHOPE, good hospitals for clinical training, and a really friendly student body (& i have a friend who goes there so i've visited Jefferson a few times and actually have met several students). Just my two cents 🙂

My application's been complete for a week or so now. Do you guys know about how much time will lapse until I get (or don't get) an interview?

I don't know if anyone else was expecting to hear back from Jefferson last week, but I felt VERY reassured to see on the acceptance list that it took them two weeks to hear back instead of the one week my tour guide promised. I still have a chance...could be tomorrow!!

Lol, 1 week? If you scroll up this page, you'll see that some people have been complete since July with no word yet from Jefferson. I'd wait until at least the new year before I started to worry if I were you.

sorry I meant after my interview...the tour guide said we'd get a call the following week. Unfortunately, that was last week so I was panicking, but now that I've seen that someone got the call 2 weeks after their interview I feel much better.

Judging from his previous posts it looks like sometime between Oct. 17th and Oct. 28th. With that kind of time frame, he's probably also in-state...

no, not in state....they said a week and i got a call exactly a week after from dr. callahan

does anyone know if Jefferson offers merit scholarships? Thanks!

Does Jefferson call if you were waitlisted or just for acceptances?

Whoohoo! Got a voicemail today from Dr. Callahan giving me the good news. I'm ecstatic to realize that I'm going to be a doctor!

I interviewed today, and we were told it could be 1-3weeks, so I would not worry

I interviewed two weeks ago (10/22) and was really hoping to hear something yesterday. Do you think it will annoy them if I call and ask if a decision has been made?

I tried to call and they just seemed annoyed and told me they can't tell you anything over the phone. I emailed one of the directors and she said not to stress, that some peoples' reccommenders simply don't submit their reports early enough for the applicants to be reviewed by a certain day. They only make calls on wednesdays I think, so you'll probably hear next wednesday. I'm in the exact same boat!

Just an update, I called to see if there was any info and the woman who answered was really nice and told me they have not made a decision about me yet. I guess that's good news.

Really? hmm.. the woman who answered refuses to tell me anything.. She just said once its complete it'll stay complete unless we are offered an interviewed. Went on about how it will go on until April 2009... so yeah... (Complete since end of August)

I wasn't so luck to get that lady who would tell me my status..

I think that is the response for pre-interview applicants. I already interviewed and was just starting to get worried as most people seem to hear within 2 weeks of the interview. It is starting to become clear that 3 weeks is not abnormal so I'm feeling better.

Does Jefferson call if you were waitlisted or just for acceptances?

They only call with acceptances, and it's usually exactly one week after your interview. They interview on Wednesdays and call next Wednesday if you are accepted.

Has the deadline for this secondary already passed and if not, when is it?
I don't really see it on the application itself nor in the e-mail I received

Hopefully their administrative services are any indication of the overall atmosphere of the school... seriously, anyone else surprised by how rude they are?

I personally haven't noticed any rudeness from anyone in the school...in fact, now that I compare my experience at Jefferson with other interview day experiences, I tend to like Jeff more and more... I never talked to anyone from the admissions office on the phone, but all my communication via e-mail and in person has been a very pleasant experience.

Definitely rude. I'm kinda to the point where I don't give a crap about going to Jefferson. They've been rude when I have called, they don't respond to emails, and I've been complete since July and have had no word about a decision. Silent rejection? Hope so, lol.

i want an interview from jefferson :/ i've been complete since september and they have been silent. shot them an email and they said i was still under consideration.. but still its been two months

i think with jefferson they kind of leave you in limbo... a silent rejection. check the timeline on the interview invites page and see how long it takes for people to get invites. my conclusion is that they invites at ~ 2 months after completion. so you will hopefully get an invite soon. if not, it's tough to say since they don't tell people who are rejected or who are legitimately still under consideration

I've been complete here since 8/19. My online status has all yes's but I have not heard anything about an interview. Has anyone called the admissions office re: interview invites with any success?

Hi aznboy,

I called, no success.

I think they are by far the least receptive to phone calls.

To everyone on various threads who said "oh too bad for you...if you're in state and they wanted to accept you they would have called you after a week" .... HA! There is hope for those of us who hadn't heard anything for 4 weeks! Good luck to everyone who's been obsessively staring at their phones every wednesday!

did you get a call from dean callahan personally?

i interviewed there 3 weeks ago (today) ive pretty much lost all hope

yes, dr. callahan called me this afternoon. she said she was sorry it took so long, but depending on who your interviewer is and what their schedule is like, sometimes it just takes them longer to be able to make one of the review meetings. don't lose hope! it took 4 weeks for me!

I got the call today, 4 weeks after interview. Seriously don't lose hope, last week I was feeling exactly like you are now.
