Rejected. I think I would've really liked this school, but looking at the list of those who have been rejected on SDN, I think I'm still happy to be in such great company. 🙂

Good luck to those of you still in the running!

When were you complete?

For the pre-reqs grid, do you guys add the courses you put for cell biology, genetics, and biochemistry into the biology section? (double count) Or are these supposed to be mutually exclusive?

BTW I can't believe how many people with awesome stats have gotten rejected so far. Makes me feel defeated in writing my mini-essays.

i believe you can count them in the bio section, since it doesnt specify it as general biology! but i might be wrong!

so it seems like the slowed down with the rejections here, how's everyone doing?!

Boy, this is crazy.

Complete 7/21, just want my rejection already...

What's worse than being denied? Waiting and waiting and waiting and waiting and waiting.....only then to be denied! After all the anticipationl

This will be rejection number 3 for me: UChicago, UNebraska, and more to come.

they should be on 7/22 according to schedule 😉

any 7/22 people heard anything yet?!?!

I have been rejected, alternate listed, and ignored until I ask for three years now. Don't let it get you down. Just keep chugging until the milk is gone.

Complete 7/22. Haven't heard anything yet

i called their office today and she said mutually exclusive, BUT you can choose where you want to put stuff. for example, i asked about biochem because i needed that to fulfill my 1 year gen chem req and she said it's fine to put it under gen chem, but then put a 0 under biochem. so, if you took a molecular biology course, you can put that under either biology up in the prereqs or as molecular bio in the recommended, but not both. hope that helps!

Why I do have an odd feeling I'm going to get several schools decisions tomorrow?

BU
Case Western
Mayo
Vanderbilt

If I got an interview (which will never happen for the first one anyway) at 1/2 of those, I'd wet myself.

For some reason, I feel like there's going to be an explosion tomorrow...:xf:

I am waiting to hear back from 3 of your 4 schools. BU already rejected me earlier this week. I think I should un-subscribe from this thread now.

Good Luck everyone else!

really? what makes you think that? seems like 7/21 people are still getting rejections

anyone else complete 7/22?

Just received secondary and have a question hoping somebody might have an idea.

What kind of things do people put in the optional section if:

1.) you don't have anything to explain on your academic record
2.) or nothing unusual to explain in general

I guess it's counterintuitive that I'm asking this since it's an "optional" section, but I just have a feeling that something needed to be put down at least to show that I put decent effort into this secondary...or am I overthinking a bit too much here? 😕

rejected... i'm beginning to lose hope way too early in the cycle...

I'm going to kiss the first person who gets a bu interview..

*smooch*

Just think you're rejected, then you can only be pleasantly surprised!!! 😍😍

What kinds of topics should we include in this optional section? should we write something about how we like the school? Should we just write something else about ourselves?

I wouldnt take a boston rejection to heart...look at a lot of the peeps who were rejected, they all have interviews and such elsewhere, i think boston is just really hard to get into and they have very specific things they are into. Not to mention cutting through 12k apps or so is just tough, too many good people are bound to be cut.

i wrote about time i spent in boston as a kid and about why my GPA is on the low side

It is not necessarily bad to pt down nothing. You don't want to make the mistake of writing too much and them getting sick of your application. I would only write about why you want to go to BU if you have some sort of specific unique reason that would catch the eye of the beholder. E.g. My dad, grandpa, and great grandpa all went to BU. If you have two kids and a wife or husband with a career that cannot leave boston. Etc.

Has anyone with a Master's degree been rejected yet? The MSAR says something like 25% of matriculants have one. Just curious

I am working towards my masters and got rejected 8/3 (complete 7/20). Ugrad Stats 3.9/35

Wow good job to all who already submitted.

I have question about the biology lab requirements. Is the year of biology lab they are looking for the labs that you are supposed to take with Intro to Biology? Or can it be the labs you took with Genetics/MCB? Sorry if its a stupid question, but I might be out of the race before I even entered. Really like this school too, thought checked all the requirements before I submitted primaries.

EDIT: I just realized they want you to fill in your classes that you have taken and anticipate completing prior to August 15, 2010. How the hell are you guys looking into the future to see what classes you will take. I mean I kind of know what classes I will take next semester (one of them is still up for grabs). But I honestly have 0 idea what I will take second semster. Somone please let me barrow their cystal ball.

Wow that is strange. How are they doing these rejections? I have a 3.8/29 and I'm still holding. My ECs aren't even good. Seems like a pretty random process

why must they keep moving forward, and then taking steps backward??? complete 7/29..the wait is killing me

they playing with my emotions

A year in, coursework done and now just lab work to finish it.

So I have filled out my secondary and am looking over it in the print preview mode. My AMCAS hasn't been verified and my committee letter hasn't been received yet. On the app, I couldn't fill anything in in the letter of recommendation page. When I am looking at the print preview feature, all of the lines are blank.

Am I missing something, or will this be filled in when everything else is received and verified?

Hi all - quick question. I already submitted my secondary and am currently waiting for my pre-med adviser to upload my LORs. However, I foolishly did not answer the question that asks about "unique aspects of your educational history," and only now realizing that I have a stellar story to tell that for some ridiculous reason, completely slipped my mind when I completed the app. :bang:

My question is this - since I can't edit the supplement, is it worth uploading an extra document with an answer to that prompt? Or will that yield a negative reaction from the adcom since I didn't use the actual prompt space for the additional essay? Is it worth running that risk?

Thanks 🙂

you cant submit if you are not verified if I remember correctly...at least that was my experience!

I guess it depends on the story. Is is so stellar that it's worth uploading an extra document?

I am pretty sure it says it on the website. Just look around towards the beginning, I was confused about this also because I don't this it said it towards the end, where you would expect it.

why does BU start rejecting so early? Are they so positive that they'll fill in their class? From what I've seen, even GWU doesn't sent out rejections right away, and instead just puts everyone "on hold for later review"

It says this in the letter section:

NOTE: AMCAS does not release the names of your letter writers to individual schools until after your academic record has been verified in their office. As a result, you may see letter writer information on the AMCAS site, before it appears here. The letter writer information will be added to our database within 3 business days of the verification of your AMCAS application. You will not be able to finalize your supplemental application until the letter information is listed below.

It does not say it directly...but it is pretty clear you need verification to submit I think...
