Having the AMCAS verified and having your application complete are two separate things,. Because my AMCAS is verified, I can submit my secondary, but because I'm not complete, I can still upload an extra document, hence my issue.

The story is about how I went to a special speech school because I was born with severe hearing loss. Reading/writing skills are expected to be pretty inadequate for hearing impaired kids, but I worked hard and ended up skipping a grade because of my writing talent. There's more but that's how it starts out, and as you can see, it fits pretty well with the "unique educational history" prompt. I have NO idea how I missed that the first time.

My pre-med dean wrote me saying that they are very much into evaluating the "whole" candidate and they do not eliminate applicants for inconsequential reasons, and that he knows the admissions dean very well and is familiar with their philosophy of admissions. Still unsure of what to do😕

If you want them to know the story then send in the extra document. That's the only thing I can suggest. I doubt they would put it against you... You can also call the school and ask them. If you don't give your information, they won't know who you are.

I had a problem with my BU application so I called the admissions office- The woman was incredibly friendly and helpful, also very straight forward.

I would recommend just calling...other applicants only know so much and this is a tricky question

so it seems like boston's axe has been quiet for a while

Was complete 7/15 and have heard nothing. Maybe, just maybe I have made it to the interview? That or my rejection will be here in the morning...😛

They had the white coat ceremony to deal with (which was yesterday). Don't fear, the reaper shall return. lol

does anybody know if their 2 science professors letters include research professors?
their wording is:

Below is a list of letters that I have requested from either the Health Professions Advisory Committee, a Health Professions Advisor, or the three (3) required individual letters of recommendation, two of which are from academicians who know my record of scholarship in Biology, Chemistry, or Physics.

she is technically a member of the science faculty (and my work with her was technically a class if they want to push the faculty whose class you took angle [whoever verified my amcas even changed it from "other" to "biology"]), but i know it's somewhat of a borderline case, and bu seems super ready to reject for any reason.

i'm going to call them tomorrow to get some clarification, but i thought i'd check to see if anyone here has had any experience with this.

90% of SDNers finished their secondaries extremely early, so they were complete early, and if unlucky, rejected early. Maybe it's just that there are less people on here who submitted their secondaries later. Who knows.

Has anyone else's interview page changed?? My mind might be playing tricks on me..but it seems like I have a different message than I used to before: "These are the interview dates we are able to offer you at this time and we hope you will choose one of them. If you are not able to accommodate any of these dates, please use the Message Center (Go to "Message Center" under "Main" in the menu on the left) to indicate a date range acceptable to you."

But I have no dates listed below nor do I have any messages in my message center nor has my status changed. Is this just what everyone's page says??

that is what mine says too. i'm pretty sure it is just a default message.

my status page looks the same as usual. perhaps this is a good omen for you?

Mine says the same thing as yours...

they mean a class you took, but just explain yourself in the section they provide and you will be fine. I had the same issue and I called them...this is a new thing and so a lot of students do not have exactly what they are asking for - they are not strict about it

i'm an idiot and looked at my status page, not my interview page. yes, my interview page says that too. but the whole message is this: (and i don't think it means anything)

Interviews are granted by invitation only. If the Committee on Admissions is able to offer an interview, you will be notified by email. The dates offered will be listed below after an invitation has been sent. These are the interview dates we are able to offer you at this time and we hope you will choose one of them. If you are not able to accommodate any of these dates, please use the Message Center (Go to "Message Center" under "Main" in the menu on the left) to indicate a date range acceptable to you. If you have an urgent need to set a date, please contact the Office of Admissions at 617-638-4630.

Scared me for a second. I was thinking "what interview page!?" but I see what you guys are talking about. I believe if your status changes and you receive an interview, then you'll have options that show up on that page.

At the bottom, there's a little blurb that says "Application actions available to you now on the basis of your current status:"

So that'll change also as your status changes.

I just got the axe. 3.8/29. ****

Oh, and I was complete like the first week of july

I'm on hold until "Fall Grades". My GPA is below avg, but my MCAT is above. Should I take it as good news that I was not rejected? Honestly, im glad theyre giving me a chance.

👍 I would be happy they're giving you a chance. Be sure to send your Fall grades asap. :luck:

Talk about a stimulant to pull off that 4.0 lol. Thanks for the help 😀

Yeah, and on the status page, where it indicates the date they got your AMCAS, supplemental finalization, and application complete, there would be a new line that says "Interview offered" or something, with a date. That's when dates will appear on what you guys are calling the interview page.

So a friend of mine called me today. He got rejected from BU.

1. He has a 3.91 overall with a 3.97 science (one A-).
2. He got a 13/12/15/S on the MCAT.
3. He went to BU for undergrad on a full scholarship.
4. He's done research at BUSM for a little over two years. He's been published multiple times.

And...

Wait for it...

Here it comes...

5. His dad is an attending physician at BUMC.

Oh BU. Thou art merciless.

Dang. That's harsh. On the flipside, I'm sure he'll kick butt elsewhere though.

I finished BU's secondary on 7/14 and I still haven't heard anything from them. I assumed that meant they were waiting to see my grad school grades since I'm an SMP but apparently they tell you you're on hold if that's the case. Weird.

That is too bad about the applicant with amazing stats, research and a dad at BUMC getting axed. I can think of a couple reasons why the admissions committee would do that:

A) Hopefully, they think that he will have a better medical school experience if he gets out of his comfort zone and leaves Boston, and they're not concerned about him getting in elsewhere because he does have great stats.

B) They're worried about perceived nepotism or someone holds a grudge against his dad.

I'm inclined to believe A.

Not entirely surprised - overqualified candidate. And who knows, maybe daddy doesn't have a great rapport?

Yes, there is a hold status. But know that it is very rare.

B is just as possible. BU is a political power house.

wow.. reading this has made me feel a lot better. I have a 4.0 and 37 MCAT and got rejected yesterday. i guess we can all agree that BU is being kind of ******ed this year. ha🙂

complete 7/30....seems like they have slowed down with the rejects but looks like i'll be up in a few days!

I'll trade stats with you so I can get into Brown. Mine won't help you get into BU, but I'll sleep with the admissions committee to get you in. It works every time.

My first rejection! YEA! Ok, with my grades I wasn't at all surprised 3.5/29N, submitted 7/23
Too bad going to BU undergrad didn't help my case at all.

Don't feel bad guys, Witzburg is an absolute jackass. It's better to go somewhere else.

complete on the 28th...still no news.

need to get something, the only thing i have heard from 20 schools is on hold from GW

is it okay to email an admissions office at 1:30 am?
