I didn't receive that e-mail. Looks like it is probably specific to your application. I hope everything works out 🙂
The Admissions Office told me that the personal evaluation should be from someone who has never taught me in a class. I got it from a mentor I had volunteered with for several years.I had a question... what kinds of letters qualify for the "Personal Evaluation" letter?? This isn't something required by most schools, so I'm not too familiar with what they are looking for. Thanks in advance =)
Any of you who just got an interview EDP? OOS?
SDN has pages dedicated to interviews complete with sample questions and tips on how to get there, where to stay, etc. It is a really good thing to check out.
Is there a link to this for IUSM? Thanks.
What are the LOR requirements for IUSM?
I called and asked them about LOR's, and they assured me that a committee letter usually suffices. If they needed anything more to complete my file, they did say they would ask me for it.
why's that? I haven't seen much negative about them. Many schools even prefer a committee letter. Of course, you have to know the faculty in the committee and they have to like you..
And also, thats the same e-mail I got a few weeks before I received the supplementary packet/ interview invite. So hold tight after you receive it, they are reviewing your app then.
Stevo what email did you get? have you had an interview yet? Was it a quasi-rejection or was it more just to let you know they received your app?
Had the exact opposite experience today-- a shame because I absolutely loved their facilities and the location. My student hosts rocked, too! Everything else about interview day though... ugh I'm still sick to my stomach about it.interviewed at IU today, absolutely loved everything about the school, all the students were friendly and excited to be there, and my interviewers were both incredibly personable and easy to talk to. good luck to everyone!
wow sorry man, were you in the morning or afternoon?
I have some stuff at other places so I won't freak out about it, it's just a shame because it's a midwest school that has pretty solid board score wise with some other qualities I really did enjoy. Keeping my chin up and focusing on the next one! 🙂thats rough man, but you'll find a school that you like and likes you back. sometimes the stars just dont align for a certain school, and thats why people call the process random. where else are you interviewing so far?

You have nothing to worry about. I just got an unlucky draw with an interviewer. I'm not super broken arrow as to qualify as non-trad. I'm fresh out of college and I purely did not enter college with medicine as my only intent and changed in the middle (which is for the most part normal and accepted usually, lol), so you'll be more than fine! Best of luck!So Mr. Broken Arrow..... just kidding. i am a non trad student who has applied to this school too, so looking forward to the same experience as yours 🙂
Anyway I am going back to school in my mid 30s. What age gets classified as broken arrow here?
rejection 1st thing this morning...my own fault really, i should've done more research to see that CA-residents shouldn't even bother applying...
BBender716: Sorry that the IU interview did not go well. I don't understand the purpose in inviting someone for an interview only to tell them not to come to that school. I hope that you have other options or that this itself works out.
No worries. All you can do is move on and try the best not to take it personally. I appreciate the well-wishing!BBender716: Sorry that the IU interview did not go well. Don't be scared. Almost everyone else had a fine time. I think it's just rare. The students were as chill there as could be. Just be confident and comfortable with who you are and you'll be fine whether it goes well or doesn't! 🙂One of my friends interviewed there 2 years ago and also had a really hard time with the interviewer. She was a non-trad but was accepted so I guess if you handled it well, things could turn out ok. I have an interview at IU in a few weeks and am also an non-trad so I'm a bit scared! 😱
Hey Everyone,
I have a unique situation with IU...I am OOS (Ohio) but am marrying an Indiana resident this year and he is applying to IU grad programs...so...I'm not a resident on my AMCAS but I will be soon! Do I just cross my fingers and hope for an interview to explain that or is it okay to call the admissions office and explain? I just don't want to get rejected soley on OOS when I will be in state soon. Thanks!
Oh, and my stats are good...31S, 3.98 GPA, lots of EC's and Leadership, Lots of job shadowing, etc...and my undergrad is in Indiana.
Thanks!
Any news for EDP applicants yet? That Oct 1st date is getting closer!
Hey Ashish89, I'll be applying next year for entry in fall, 2011. I see that you are applying EDP. I've been strongly considering EDP with IU (I'm in-state, and qualified as far as stats). Would you recommend the EDP to other applicants?
