Does anyone know how much they emphasize on religion, or more specifically SDA, in the interviews? I grew up attending an SDA church but have not been actively following the faith anymore. I hope I made that clear in my secondaries, but I'm worried they'll grill me questions about my faith.

I would think hardcore grilling about someone's faith would be a huge no-no in the interview process, especially since on their website they stress that nobody is admitted on the basis of religious affiliation alone.

Anyone know what the traffic is like going back to the Ontario Airport...? My interview day is supposed to end at 4 but I'm not sure when to book my flight to leave...

Invite letter dated 11/17 received today; OOS, non-SDA. Unfortunately, whoever schedules interviews was out of the office when I called, so I'll schedule my interview tomorrow. Does anyone know what dates they're up to now?

I am a 3rd year here at LLU and one of the students who interview applicants too. When we interview applicants we focus on a couple of major areas: who you are, where you came from, your life story, whether you are someone who is controlled by their passions, where you have shown your love for others in community service, how well you interact with others around you, your medical knowledge/aptitude in science (any weak areas from college like MCAT, GPA, etc.), where you find your strength when hard times come, and your faith/relationship with God.

So certainly religion comes up in the interview...if you are applying here then you already know what LLU is about. But honestly we just want to get to know you better. As a student inteviewer, I want to make sure that when I graduate there will be good students, with a good heart coming to my school because I would hate to hear that Loma Linda "isn't the same anymore". So really just relax guys...don't try to be super religious and don't expect to not be asked about religion...just be yourself. And remember that every interviewer is different so who knows what they will focus on.

Just got an interview invite in the mail... I think I'll check them out. Gotta figure out what my work schedule will look like in January, though...

Congrats. When were you complete?

Traffic was easy breezy for me, took only about 25 min from LLU to Ontario leaving around 4pm. But of course make room in your departure time for possible traffic due to crashes, major debris, whatever.

Interview scheduled for 1/27, afternoon. Does anyone know if Loma Linda offers student housing during interviews?

They are going to send you a confirmation letter, with the interview date and in it they have information about the hosting program.

Hey guys. Any recent invites to students that are OSS that are non-SDA? I'm curious of where Loma Linda is at with their interview invites. Do they have a long interview season?

thanks!

Yes, I'm OOS non-SDA, and I received my interview invite by mail right before Thanksgiving break. The next date they had available for interviews was January 27th, but I scheduled it the day before Thanksgiving, so they could be up to February by now.

is any of you non-SDA's with invites also non-christian and didnt indicated that you attend a weekly religious thing on the secondary?

i called and they said their interview season ends in late march so there's still hope!

I'm OOS, non-SDA, 2º complete late October, interview invite early November. Interviewed in late November.

Anyone heard anything yet? They are supposed to be handing out the first round of acceptances sometime this month.

Supposedly they come around Christmas-time. Could be a good Holiday gift, even if it's for New Years.

December 15 is the earliest date they call accepted applicants... I really hope I get in! Three of my friends who go to school with me got into the School of Dentistry on the first possible day, so here's hoping I get in on the first day too!!! :xf:

I'm interviewing that day, too, starting at 10 am. 🙂 Apparently it will be an SDN party on that day. I'm so excited to see the school!

Tuition is probably one of the lowest for all private schools, around $38k if I remember correctly from the info session during the interview. This is mostly due to the significant support they get from the SDA church.

As far as the interview experience itself, it was quite friendly and informative. I had one interview that was extremely conversational and laid-back, and one that was a bit more intense, but that particular person is known to be "feisty" according to one of the students I spoke to. Either way, nobody was out to get you or make you feel uncomfortable. The students I spoke to were very helpful and all seemed very high-spirited and relatively stress-free.

The school itself is a bit polarized in terms of facilities. They have a lot of brand-new buildings that still smell like new paint, but there are also some buildings that are there from when the school first opened and are looking a bit worn. Either way, they're clearly in a renovation period and I expect that most of these buildings would be redone by the time we would be working our way through. Plus, it's really the education that matters, not the face of the building in which it's received. In that regards, it seems like they do very well. I particularly like the hollistic approach they take towards medicine by prioritizing the person over the symptoms.

Received a snail mail interview invite today (12/11). I was complete July 27th. The thin envelope with only a single typed paragraph seemed like a rejection at first. I'm excited to take a look at the school and get a feeling for the attitude there.

LOL....Meat, your meat science background should come in handy for Loma Linda's veggie obsession!!!!! Good luck with the interview!

Ya, I'm not quite too sure how the interviewers will handle my 4+ years of butchering experience. 😕

Hopefully it doesn't offend anyone too much. It'll work out if it's supposed to, eh?

Acceptance notification begins TOMORROW!! Although I heard a rumor that they may not begin making the official phone calls until the Friday after... Regardless, the time has almost arrived!! :scared:

Good luck to those waiting. Hopefully, I can at least get an interview invite.

anyone know how many non-SDA have been interviewed so far or if they just started?

So after looking at last year's LLUSM thread, I guess acceptance calls really do come Friday's starting after the 15th. Maybe we'll get some love the 18th?? :xf:
