Nothing changed for me either. But hey, at least the anticipation was fun while it lasted 😛.

I'm fairly sure they have one more group of acceptances that go out at the end of February. Then early March, 1/2 of interviews get Wl'ed and 1/4 of them get Rejected.

Peace
If I get some other acceptances in March, I may as well withdraw from Washu rather then being bitched by the WL thing.😡

congrats frenchfries!

no status update here either...

Sorry Longhorn I thought I saw a post from you saying you were in. Just some other lucky soul. So we maybe have one more shot before being relegated to WL or rejection pile? I think I will just go for one of the schools that actually accepted me rather than hold out hope for too much longer. I was really hoping I would get that happy call.

Interviewed Jan 11th - no status update (still just says it's complete and the interview offer was extended in Dec.)

I wonder if they actually got to the Jan interviews in this meeting - the only one that's heard back seems to be from November?

Hmm. Ack.. so you guys think there will be another meeting?

I interviewed later than you, and I also got no news. Do they actually go in order though? If they did, and there was only one more wave of acceptances, that would mean we were interviewing for the waitlist... which I hope isn't what happened.

for what it's worth I interviewed 1/4

I don't want to scare any of you guys but I figured you might want to know that they don't appear to be going in any sort of chronological order. I interviewed February 4th, got the acceptance letter today. Quickest turn around I've heard of in a long time =/

Coz they want you so badly.

Hmm so either they are going in chronological order, in which case those of us who interviewed <= Jan haven't heard back are out already... or they aren't and we have no idea what's going on 🙂 I'm still thinking there must be at least 1 more meeting if they are interviewing in Feb as well.

Pure speculation.

Either way, we are either out already, or have one more shot. Considering that; sitting tight till March seems to be the only recourse we have (not that that's news...) I for one am not assuming I'm rejected/WLd until they tell me (unlike Yale where I'm pretty darn sure I'm rejected) 😛

Beware the ides of march.

Why does it always have to be march

Man, if UPenn works for you, who's fking care about Washu anymore. Just ditch it for god's sake.

So Wash U was my first interview on Nov 3rd, and today it was my first acceptance. Such a relief! Got it in the mail today. I have just stopped checking status updates and was just really giving up on getting into medical school. I had already applied for a bunch of jobs. Such a relief!

Congrats man. I'm sure it must feel pretty amazing to go from thinking you're not getting into medical school, to be accepted to third ranked school in the country.

Congrats! What a great first acceptance to have. I'm pretty much giving up on WashU, I've settled on Michigan as my top choice at this point and I'm very happy with it. Good luck to all of you who will be chilling in St. Louis this time next year, should be a blast! WashU is a great school. 👍

to those of you who got letters (vpdr & shepardsun - congratulations!), was your webpage also updated to reflect your acceptance?

i'm away at other interviews right now, and so if you only found out via letter then maybe i can hope for own letter when i get back home :xf:!

Yes, the website reflects the acceptance. Though I don't think I got any calls like people have been talking about.

Has anyone that didn't get status updates for a while call them to see if they were reviewed already, and how receptive were they about it? Thanks!

The website reflects it. Just log in and on the home page you'll see congratulations!

Somebody should call them from a payphone tomorrow, or use *67 or something lol

I emailed them after the last round, and they just told me I was "under review" without telling me anything else. I don't think they will tell you anything different if you call, but if someone does, please post and tell us if it was successful.

and if anyone does call or email could you ask if the waitlist is ranked or unranked. and if it is ranked can we call and ask where we are in the "pile" of waitlisted students once the decisions come out in March?

I want to be accepted here sooo badly, but the closer it gets to March the more likely I'll end up with a waitlist (hopefully not a flat out rejection :scared: but waitlist isn't much better). Fingers crossed for a last minute acceptance! :xf:

I stopped by the admissions office a few days ago, and all they said was "you are still under review, and you haven't been rejected yet."

I don't know if the waitlist is ranked or unranked but I remember at my interview that it was recommended, if Wash U was your very first choice, to send them a letter stating that fact after the waitlist is released and they would factor that into their considerations.

Thanks for responding. Wash U is my very first choice (by far) and I already did send them a letter of intent stating that fact. Hopefully it actually ends up helping. Hopefully I don't get waitlisted, but if I do I'll probably call and ask if it's ranked or not (unless someone asks before then, feel free to share that info with the rest of us)

thanks again shepardsun!

No problem! I need to call financial aid in the next day or two to see what sorts of information they need me to adjust on my FAFSA so if you want I can ask admissions then if the waitlist will be ranked, I've got nothing to lose by doing that 🙂

Interviewed 12/9.... almost 10 weeks ago! I emailed to ask when I could expect to hear a decision. Received a very brief reply: Your file is currently under review. Once a decision has been made you will be contacted.

Sigh... but when?!?!?!??!!

Relax... I interviewed 5 months ago.

For real? And you still haven't heard one way or another? Stinks that we have all these deadlines for applying yet there are no deadlines for replying... hence the phrase "hurry up and wait."

And mine is not any better than bannie22.🙄

has anyone received post-interview rejections and or been placed on the waitlist? or have only acceptances gone out?

i think it's just been acceptances (on SDN, anyway, maybe there's a few rogue rejections out there) and that they form the waitlist in march

:luck:

I've been a slacker...I've had a ton of stuff going on with school but I promise I'll call tomorrow and find out whether the waitlist is ranked and when they intend on releasing it.

I interviewed in November and sent an update letter in January basically asking if they have made a decision on me yet. Should I still keep sending stuff in? Or should I wait until I hear back in March about if I got wait listed or rejected?

Hey guys, just checked in with admissions and the waitlist is in fact not ranked. Sorry to be the bearer of semi-bad news! I'm still pulling for you guys, good luck!:luck:

does anyone know if they have given all their outright acceptances yet?

Thanks for checking! That is pretty bad news though... Oh well, hopefully I'll end up on the lucky end? I just don't have it in me to give up on this school =(

if the WL is not ranked, how they gonna decide which student to take off the list?

I'm not actually clear on that. It would be really unfair if it was just luck of the draw (although I kinda doubt that). I wonder if they actually re-review all the waitlisted students each time spots open up. In that case it's essentially the same as ranking, it's just not pre-determined who gets in when spots open. It just sucks because you don't know where you stand and it's more waiting in the dark. But all this is me guessing because I really have no idea.

I know I was warned that med applications was a long and difficult process but I had no idea it would be this hard to sit and wait and not be able to do anything... <sigh>

bombardment with phone calls and letters and telling them you will definitely go if accepted might help

Why is the waitlist being unranked such bad news?

Why is the waitlist being unranked such bad news?

It's not bad news in the "you won't get into medical school because it means this is a hat draw" sense, just that you won't know where you stand in the process and as we all know the uncertainty is the worst part of this entire experience. From my limited understanding of what I was told at my relatively recent interview, they do review the entire waitlist and it is a non-random process as to who gets in off of it, but it seems like any sort of ranking will be an internal one which means more unsure waiting and patience for those on it.

Information like:

"Oh, you are ranked 43rd out of 110 applicants, so based on historic yields you'll have a 54% chance of getting an acceptance."

would be nice, but do schools that have ranked waitlists actually tell you where you are on it?

I think they do it that way so that people who send in lots of great letters of intent can move up the list. As opposed to making a list in March with tiers, and then no one can change position by expressing enthusiasm.

Any idea if there was a meeting tonight? I'm freeeeeeeaaaakkkkiiinnng ouuuuuuuttttttttt
