Do any of you happen to remember the generic log-in user name and password for the Wash U Internal Med Podcast? My iTunes crashed and I lost all of it 🙁.

I'm not sure why I'm on this thread since I don't go here but I finished first year today and I'm overwhelmed with the free time I have.

I just wanted to reiterate that not everyone feels this way. It's not a premed vs med student thing. My own class is very torn on the issue, even though the Chancellor of the hospital actually went on record saying he supports the bill.

I'm personally more of the "I worked my butt off my first year purposefully so I'd be able to help people" mindset. I've always believed basic healthcare was a right and am ok with giving up part of my salary for it. FWIW, I worked for 2 years between college and med school so this isn't some naive never-had-to-earn-a-salary-for-survival viewpoint. And I'm hardly a bleeding heart. It's just a different viewpoint. I accept that despite the fact that I don't go to public school, my taxes go to the public school system. I accept that my taxes go toward roads I don't drive on, and services I don't know about, and things like medicare and social security. I have also not had insurance before, and know how terrifying that can be.

So yeah, moral of the story: regardless of where you go, you'll probably encounter very mixed feelings about this, and it has nothing to do with your background or your level of education and everything to do with your own motivations for working as hard as you do, and with your personal moral compass.

I'll agree with you on everything except this. Some people will fight for socialism, others will succumb to it, and yet others will defend their own rights -- No inferences as to the integrity of a person's moral compass should be made in light of this, however, because arguments for or against socialism are not made strictly on moral grounds.

FWIW, I was accepted off of the WL on 5/18 last year, which was a Monday. That means 5/15/2009 was a Friday, and I'm pretty sure there were acceptances that day.

hmmm my hunch is to say that you have until may 15th - that it doesn't matter which list you came off of as long as its before the cut off day. best to look at the aamc website for the traffic rules to be sure.

i feel like WashU would probably be understanding if you asked them to give you an extra few days to make your decision (especially since they're the ones that pulled you off the waitlist, and if you're waiting for financial stuff from them)

you'd have to check with the other school to see if they'd be willing to give you an extra few days to decide. some might not, but i'd imagine a lot would if you told them you were waiting on financial stuff

Me and my fiance just got accepted off of the waitlist too!! And we liked it soo much, I think we will be going, even if it means we have to forgo a big scholarship. I guess this means I'll have to make another annoying X school vs Y school, lol.

Um, I have no idea. Can't hurt to ask Admissions. They are generally really helpful!

out of curiosity, what made you switch to washU. it seemed like from other threads you were pretty concerned about tuition, but then you switched to one of the most expensive schools in the country?
