Bogo is good, but I prefer Geppetto's.

Myuuuuuuuu did you check your mailbox? kekekeke
I did check my mailbox! It was full of candies from a certain ninja kouhai.😀

Why can't you use a pizza cutter like everyone else?!!
That would be boring.

I'll have to check that out next time I'm in town. Let me guess, eggplant for one of the toppings?
Hmmmmm. I have not attempted that, but I wouldn't put it past them. Lately, my eggplant fix has come from Wonton Gourmet's (also awesome) szechuan chicken with eggplant.👍

They put people on "post-interview hold" whom they really would love to have in the class, but who aren't immediately apparent that "omg this is exactly what we have been looking for, accept them right now."

Those put on hold are not reviewed again until March, after the last round of acceptances go out. Then, those who are on hold are re-reviewed.

The ones they wish they had enough spots to put in the class but can't until someone drops are invited onto the alternate list. Christian said he prefers to lovingly refer to it as a "We-really-want-you-but-don't-have-enough-spots-yet" list.

Those who they really did like (and thus were put on the hold list to begin with) but they can't foresee getting close to enough spots to fit them in, they don't invite to the alternate list.

So those who are put on hold will either be put on the waitlist and then accepted or rejected. No one on hold will be outright accepted, is that right?

Decisions are up for the University Program! No updates from the college program yet...

I was going to say only 2 1/2 hrs, but that's for the rest of you. I just found out that I have a meeting from 6:30-8. Oh well, what's a few more hours when you've waited this long?

Best of luck to everyone!

Correct. Holds are evaluated in March for either waitlist or rejection. Then waitlist acceptances start in May. :luck:

+1. i feel like a hold is basically a rejection 🙁 is there no waitlist? just an alternate list for UP?
got put on hold today

Uhhhhhh. I hope I get into a better school by then and case western takes me off the waitlist and accepts me, then I can reject them ... that'll show them what it feels like.

There *is* no better school than Case. 🙂

The alternate list is the waitlist. It gets drawn up after March.

Well, if you're that eager to not come here, I could see what I could do to expedite the process. Just need a few critical details!🙂

I feel like we interviewed for the waitlist. Interview went as well as all my acceptances, possibly better.

School is pretty good. I feel Dr. Love's pain.

These late interviews seem like they are for WL.

At Case, that's probably likely. Don't take it as a bad thing, though, there's a ton of WL movement--as with most schools that aren't on the coasts--and if you did well, maybe you'll be high up on the WL, which is a good place to be! 👍

They are not for the waitlist. We don't do that, as that's just mean.:luck: By the way, the city of Cleveland is actually quite nice. People refuse to give it a fair chance, though, which I suppose is understandable. Sort of.

<---- Feels the same.

I wonder if going to a school that liked me day 1 is better than going to one I get off the WL on.
Come back and tell us after you've attended both.🙂

No, no, no, no, and no. Also, no. But, yes, there is a bunch of waitlist movement!

i feel the same way actually. <3 the school when i interviewed there and so torn today when i got put on hold 🙁 i thought my interview went better than ever! guess case is such a good school that every applicant is quite excellent.

I really enjoyed the student body at Case the most. I enjoyed the attitudes of the students and really liked my interviewer and the staff. Unfortunately the feelings weren't mutual.

We'll see what happens. I look at this like dating is some ways. Do I go with the one I have to beg and who reluctantly accepts me? I'm not sure. I do know it feels a lot better getting a "yes" than a "maybe." Part of me wants to be negative but I can't because I honestly liked the students I spoke to quite a bit. More of a downer than anything.

Good luck to all. I guess no matter what we will all be colleagues in the future.🙂

<-------- again, feels pretty much the same.

Yes sir, I concur.

But whatever, I'm staying cool.😎

Calm down people, srsly.

I understand your frustration. My head almost exploded this time last year, myself. I believe I said it was like being in high school all over again, with an unrequited love. But it's not at all accurate. If there were no mutual feelings, you wouldn't be on hold. There is a pile of people who were rejected post-interview, as you know.

And now I'm here. Wait lists always move. Besides, these last interviews ARE obviously for spots. They leave a chunk of acceptances until the last interviews - otherwise there is no point in interviewing students, is there, now?

These things have been said before, but I'm just reiterating them for the sake of those who choose to vent their steam in a slightly-less-than-the-best manner.

Does anyone know when CCLCM decisions should be coming out for the most recent round of interviewees???

Does anyone know when CCLCM decisions should be coming out for the most recent round of interviewees???

Looking at last years thread, the last round of decisions went out the second week of March.

Is there any way of knowing how many (UP) have already been accepted? How many are on hold?

Has the waitlist been started yet or will it be started when they meet together with the Hold stack of files?

So, am I correct in understanding that some of those who have been offered acceptance may choose to go elsewhere. Therefore spots will be opened up for those on the waitlist?

If the waitlist is not ranked, how will the choices be made as to who moves from waitlist to acceptance?

Thank you!

😕

I can't answer your question specifically, but I can say that there are about 70 potential members of the class of 2015 in the Case facebook group. I don't know if people only join when they are really planning on attending or they just join when they are accepted. I think they accept around 390...so I'm guessing quite a bit more than 70 are accepted at this point. All that said...statistics can be meaningless when it's just about whether or not you get taken off the waitlist: You fight for it...write a letter of intent etc. What will happen will happen...so whatever the situation is..it's outside your control and don't worry about it since you can't control it anyway. I apologize for getting preachy here...but when it comes down to it..it's all about how you maximize your chances. Best of luck!!!

The waitlist is created from the hold list after all holds have been re-reviewed. In May, once people start playing waitlist dominos, we should see a bunch of movement.

As usual, Myuu is all over it. Just looking at the stats available from a few years ago, it's clear there is a large amount of movement when this fascinating game enters it's final stages:

# applied- 5785
# interviewed- 1244
# accepted- 496
Class size- 199

496 accepted for a class of 199 means that almost 300 turned Case down. Nothing against Case, but clearly it does happen in significant numbers every year. With Case waiting to make their wait list acceptances in May, it would seem reasonable to think that applicants with other good school acceptances might not wait around and punch their ticket for another school, opening up big time opportunites for waitlisters.

What I'm reading here is that many of you are absolutely in love with Case....even to the point of equating it to the pain of being spurned by a lover. In my view, that's real passion and commendable....to a point😉. If true, I think you'll still be in the game in May and there's a very reasonable chance you'll be rewarded for hanging around that long. Look at Auriga, you know her story and nobody would question the passion she has for being a Case med student.

Bottom line is if you were good enough to get an interview at Case, you are, without qualification, an outstanding med school applicant. The folks at Case work very hard to build a class that is special. I'll bet that if they looked back over the years, some of their best students probably came from the last batch of acceptances given out in May. It's hard to fake passion. I wish the best for each of you.......and me too!

Oh and btw, Cleveland is really fun, I used to live there. Just make sure you invest in some long underwear!😉

In response to all the questions about being put on hold:

  1. Please don't feel like you're rejected. Case puts a lot of people on hold because they want to give people who interview late in the cycle a fair chance. It's kind of like speed dating, you don't want to fill up your card with names of people you'd like to be matched with before you meet everyone. As someone who was granted an interview early, but was unable to interview until the last week of February last year, I appreciated Case's thoughtfulness. On a similar note...
  2. Interviewing late does NOT mean you are interviewing for the hold list. I interviewed very, very late in the cycle and I got an acceptance. So did another person in my interview group (the last group). The admissions office is definitely still accepting people, although a lot of people are still being put on hold.
  3. Being put on hold does NOT mean that your chances are slim. A good portion of the current class of students were originally on hold. Remember that Case leaves a lot of room in its class by giving out few acceptances until the end of the interview season. Then they will take a look at the entire pool of candidates on hold and try to put together the best, diverse class from the hold list.
  4. Don't let the stress of the admissions process make you say or do something you will regret. Yes the admissions process is stressful. Any current medical student will tell you so. Know that there are a lot of people in medical school who were in the same boat as you. We understand your pain. However, don't become overly emotional and make comments or take actions that are negative or immature. Maturity is a big component of what medical schools look for, don't sink your own boat.

This is a great post. FYI folks, it seems like Case is actually paying attention to the internets and trolling, maybe moreso than other schools. I infer this from the line on the acceptance letter that basically says "don't be a jerk on the internet, big brother is watching". That was not an attempt by me to gloat... I promise. I am wishing the best for you all but reiterating the point that you gain nothing by shooting yourself in the foot and acting immature on teh webz.

For those on hold, keep the faith and here's to this epic process coming out the way you want.

Congratulations! I was wondering if you are automatically withdrawn from the college track if you accept the university track first... Does anyone know?

No, definitely not the case. I was accepted to UP before CP. I mean, they're different programs so you can be accepted to both before you make a final decision...

So did you just find out you were admitted today?

Fell in love with this school at my interview today!

I'm glad you had a good time. I fell in love with the school when I interviewed as well. Yesterday was actually one of the days where I didn't hang around campus, glad my classmates made a good impression!

You are not. You will have to make the final decision and hold only one spot by some day in May? June? I forget the exact date, but you definitely have time to think about your acceptances before you make the decision. This applies to people who are accepted to multiple medical schools as well and is a reason why the waitlist will move so much during that time.

Edit!!!: Juuuuuuust kidding. We've both got the same traffic date, but we're (UP/CP) a little earlier since we start in July.

Edit the 2th:
https://www.aamc.org/students/applying/recommendations/62820/policies_applicants.html said:
By May 15 of the matriculation year (April 15 for schools whose first day of class is on or before July 30), April 30 for MD-PhD programs, each applicant who has received an offer of acceptance from more than one school or program choose the specific school or program at which the applicant prefers to enroll and withdraw his or her application, by written correspondence delivered by regular or electronic methods, from all other schools or programs from which acceptance offers have been received.

Sooo! April 15th.

I can't believe I get to post this... I got the call yesterday!!! I'm still hoping I didn't just dream it. 😀 I'm unbelievably excited and I'm pretty sure I sounded like an 8 year old boy on Christmas morning to Dr. Franco...

Congratulations!

Congrats guys! Is that the end of straight acceptances from cclcm? I haven't heard any word since my interview 🙁

I think CCLMer might know, but I don't know the innerworkings of the clinic.

Just got put on the CCLCM "hold" list about a minute ago via a status change email notification. Interviewed beginning of December and hadn't heard anything from the college track till today.

Still haven't heard anything yet from CCLCM, called them today and they said that everyone should hear back by end of february/beginning of March.

Thanks guys, can't wait to meet you at 2nd look! And for those still waiting, don't give up hope!
