Me neither. Very sad 🙁

Still haven't heard anything yet from CCLCM, called them today and they said that everyone should hear back by end of february/beginning of March.

🙁 Now that the 3rd round is out, I have a feeling this may not bode well. I still have hope, though.

Just got put on the CCLCM "hold" list about a minute ago via a status change email notification. Interviewed beginning of December and hadn't heard anything from the college track till today.

Darn them for being such a hot, tease-y program! (jk)

I feel like we interviewed for the waitlist. Interview went as well as all my acceptances, possibly better.

School is pretty good. I feel Dr. Love's pain.

These late interviews seem like they are for WL.

I know that this reply is a little late, but rest assured that you weren't interviewing for the waitlist, as my anecdotal (and thus irrefutable) evidence indicates. I interviewed mid-late February last year, and not only did I get in, but two other interviewees from my interview date are now at Case with me (I don't think they were waitlisted, but not 100% sure). At any rate, don't give up hope, and good luck! 😀

I have heard mention of a letter of intent. Accepted here rwjms, on hold at Case UP. Case is (no shock!) dream school. With date to accept or reject at other med schools, is a letter of intent to Case UP a recommended step or is it better to just wait as long as possible in the event that the hold gets changed to waitlist. Oy, but then the waitlist may not move until May right? Ummm...tricky situation...to wait to be on waitlist yet hoping hoping for best result and for Case. Of course, don't wish to let the other go and end up with nothing. 😕

To make the process of these next few months a pleasantly clear experience:

Right now (well, technically after the last acceptances at the next adcom meeting next week), people "in the running" are either accepted or on hold.

1. Case UP will make its alternate list in March. Some ppl on the hold list are invited to be on the list, others are not.

2. Alternate list will likely NOT move at all until maybe laaaaaaaate April, probably May.

3. Until May 2, you can hold as many acceptances as you want, and be on as many hold/wait lists as you want.

4. May 2: if you HAVE an acceptance at Case, you MUST decide either to:
(1) Confirm your acceptance to attend Case AND withdraw from ALL other acceptances,
or (2) Withdraw your acceptance from Case and go with whatever other acceptances you have.

You can still be on any waitlists or hold lists you want.
If you are on Case's wait list, you don't have to do anything at all. You can still hold other schools' acceptances.

5. May 15 (other schools' deadline): you must decide to keep ONLY ONE acceptance from ANY school. You must withdraw from ALL other schools.
*You can still be on any wait list you want.

6. If at any time up until the first day of class, you get the magical call from Dr. Mehta/Christian pulling you off the waitlist, you can decide to withdraw from your other school's acceptance and come to Case. They will give you a few days to make your decision, so it's not like omgyesornorightthisinstant, but it is polite for all parties involved to be promptish in your confirmation/decline.

This is exactly how it worked for me:
Jan: Case hold, SchoolX acceptance.
Mar: Case alt list.
May 10: Case acceptance.
May 10, 3.3 seconds later: SchoolX withdraw and Case confirmed.
Dancing ensued.

As I've mentioned before, no acceptances will go out for those who were put on hold until AFTER the wait list has been made. See my previous post for dates.
Are you asking about the timing for sending a letter? Because "letter of intent" is not a formal process. Case absolutely does read letters that you send, but it doesn't necessarily sway things one way or another. (Actually, nothing will change the schedule mentioned above.) The question of whether to write one or not is a personal question.

It seems like some people got phone calls. I've wanted a phone call so bad, but I got an email acceptance. So is phone call or email?

As Auriga mentioned, Case does read letters of intent, but they will not change their timeline for the decision process.

If you are UP, you will get email acceptances up until they start processing the alternate list. If you are on the alternate list, you will most likely get phone calls. That was one of the experiences I actually felt left out on. I didn't get to talk to Dr. Mehta or Dr. Essman! I just got an email 😉

Wasn't there a committee meeting this past Monday? Anyone heard anything yet? I thought updates were usually posted Wednesday evening. :scared:

So Case Western's deadline to accept/decline the offer is a month earlier than other schools? Does anyone know if we should hear about the scholarships by then???...otherwise, that's just super risky...

Anyways, also registered for 2nd look 👍

Can't wait meet a lot of you at second look!

Just wondering: If our plans change, can we cancel our reservation at all?

Schools that have a start date earlier than July 30th can have their deadlines moved up to April 15th instead of May 15th. Case is one of these schools.

Sorry to hear that, guys. Best of luck with your other schools, though!!!:luck::xf:

got put on the "high hold list" today for cclcm, honestly pretty surprised and thrilled about it, interviewed in december and finally heard today

I think the actual date to drop other acceptances for UP is May 1st.. at least that's what I have been reading. Is it not?

Edit: Darn that is tough news, sorry to hear guys 🙁

so how will we all identify each other at second look? I have an eggplant-colored sweater...maybe I'll wear that 😉

I also got notification of the high hold list for CCLCM today. I was surprised because I interviewed so long ago but I am absolutely thrilled !
Does anyone know how many people are on the high hold list for the College Program? (I assume it's like an alternate list since they've already given out their 32 acceptances) or how much movement the alternate list for CP has seen in the last couple years?
Thanks for any input!!

Rejected from cclcm today.

Totally expected it, so no worries!

I'm still deciding whether to go or not! This is probably my first choice school but Cleveland might not be an option for my girl and I. Verdict is still up on her grad school admissions. If I can't go here then I won't let myself go to the second look weekend, it will make letting go just that much harder 😎 I read through the itinerary, it sounds awesome. They definitely spoil the attendees, especially compared with the other schools' second look days I am considering.

CCLCM reject.....and I'm feeling....strangely relieved. Almost at the end of an interesting, but very long and somewhat stressful process.

Rejected from CCLCM today too.

Looks like it's going to be between the university program and OSU.

JUST registered for second look weekend!! :soexcited:

Meeeeee too.

+1 and booked my flight...Southwest FTW!

Congratulations! I look forward to seeing you all at Second Look. I'll probably make some kind of secret SDN hand sign so you'll know who I am. I'll drag Auriga along too.

You'll get letters about financial aid and scholarships in early March (if they aren't in the mail already).

Cclcm rejected 🙁. Would have been nice to know earlier.

FlowRate: me too! My interview went so well this was pretty disappointing!

Rejected from the college program as well.
+pissed+

Sorry to hear about the rejections. If it makes you guys feel any better, I am totally in love with the University Program over the College Program. I am pretty sure I wouldn't want to switch, even with the tuition offer.

I don't know anything about the College Program's hold list processing, but good luck anyway!

Interestingly enough, my boyfriend and I were in this same spot about a year ago. I loved Case. He got into Case for grad school, but eventually decided to go to Georgetown. I didn't want to go and we ended up going to two different schools (6 hours apart driving, 1 hour 15 min flight). We're still happily together, but it was definitely a stressful choice for us and I sympathize with your situation.

+1 to both.

O yes. That's why I flashed you a grin at the CSR retreat last weekend when they requested that some of the reps represent at Second Look. 😀

In order to recognize us, dntpanic will be wearing a Ninja Turtles getup, specifically Raphael, complete with turtle shell. I will be wearing a full body eggplant carved from a real eggplant. vc7777 looks just like the guy in his avatar (giggle) so it will be easy to ID him. I'll suggest he bring his rake. And Myuu....well she might ACTUALLY show up in her penguinja getup. Which is a legit ski suit with balaklava and a fleece penguin hat, fyi. And o so adorable....yet scary fierce.

I understand that the first two years at Case UP are P/F, but do they rank the students internally?

My understanding is no, they do not. First two years do not even factor into AOA. Hopefully a current student can come along and confirm 🙂

My favored Ninja Turtle getup is actually Donatello. I just couldn't find an animated gif of him jumping around.

No they do not. The way assessment works here would make it impossible to get any sort of ranking system considering that almost nothing receives a numerical score. Case has a true P/F system, not a letter-graded system masquerading as a P/F system.

A) color reassignment sugery for your turtle can be accomplished affordably!
B) it's true--we do not rank

Since I have been very forgetful lately, can someone remind me if people on hold are suppose to fill out financial aid forms?

My understanding from the interviews from different schools is that it would be wise to fill out the Fafsa and include all schools you were interested in. That way, when you do get an offer, they can start working on your package for aid. Anyone can feel free to correct me.
I found this website that might be helpful…

http://casemed.case.edu/financial_aid/

Is there a facebook page for the Love Case – but she’s not sure yet if she loves me? =) just kidding!

Would the goldwater scholarship help in admission to the 5 year no tuition program?

Since I have been very forgetful lately, can someone remind me if people on hold are suppose to fill out financial aid forms?
Yes, do your FAFSA for sure, and you can put Case on the list of schools to send the results to if you want - that's not a problem, then they have it in the happy circumstances that you're accepted.
That's what I did, at least.

Also, Case has its own financial aid form that they will have you fill out only after acceptance. That's for the Case fin aid/grants.

hey guys earlier I think someone said that the last day to withdraw from other acceptances was April 15th, but I just checked iapply, and it's actually May 2nd. This is good b/c there are a few other second look weekends for other schools after Case's throughout April.

from a quick look at previous threads, i think that the interviewers who interviewed ~ 2 weeks ago should get decisions soon.

i'm hoping tomorrow if they had their adcom meeting today. anybody know for sure?

...just wanted to remind everyone to keep their spirits up...

Just remember all the good things that you believe make you awesome and will make you a good doctor...are probably true...and no one can take that away from you (unless you let them =).

👍

On a side note - my favorite breakfast item are fanned eggplants and whenever I get a decision from case - positive or negative- I intend on making myself these things in honor of the support I've gotten from this forum!

I had to look that up on google images because I have NEVER heard of fanned eggplants before, much less eggplant for breakfast....

I suppose anything is tasty with enough cheese on it. :scared:

Ahhh, I asked about that last year and finaid doesn't want to have to process that one until you get in here.

haha...

Actually, I saw the recipe from an airline magazine (Delta or US Airways?) when I was leaving from CO a couple of years ago. Chef made it for breakfast at his lodge. I nabbed the complimentary magazine copy and made it =)

1 eggplant grilled, "de-skinned," then flattened (thinner the better) with a fork + 1 egg + salt/pepper. Cook in a little bit of oil.

👍
