Might I suggest not calling us stupid?🙁
CWRU is only stupid because it's so close to me, it knows I want to go there (I have meet with the med dean, admissions, ect ect - over several years though - last time I meet with anyone was two springs ago), and yet it hasn't invited me for an interview. I'm not talking about the students.

Any ideas though on when I should send in a last attempt update? I'm thinking about just writing about how CWRU's program fits with my learning style...

edit: I know I'm at the lower end of Stats for CWRU so I won't be too disappointed if I don't get an interview. But my fire has been fueled upon learning that one kid I know who has only got DO interviews has an up and coming CWRU interview. good for him, but bah hum. I want an interview too!

Yeah, during the middle of the Case lunch, cyanide nudges me and says, "look at her necklace!" and we both cracked up but no one around us knew why. It was great to meet you all in person, Myuu, Auriga, and dntpanic.

I went into the Case interview with high expectations and did not come out disappointed. It seems like an awesome place to be a med student. I wish I could come back to see the DocOpera, though!
It was great meeting so many of you in person today and yesterday! vc7777, thanks for stopping by on Monday. I really enjoy meeting Mich alums everywhere I go. 😀 Auriga, I loved your eggplant necklace. Where did you even manage to find that?? crixx and I totally cracked up when we saw it from across the table.
Great to meet you both too! And Isasmommy too! You seem like bright and cheerful people who'd make a great fit here. :xf: pm me and I can give you my email if you have any other questions about anything.
I have been wondering that same thing and keep forgetting to ask.
I'm glad we were able to give you a better picture of what med school here could be like.:luck:
Agreed - I'm glad the interview day was happy for you. We try to make it as enjoyable as possible!

As for the necklace...I have a blackbelt in google fu. :ninja:

It was great meeting so many of you in person today and yesterday! vc7777, thanks for stopping by on Monday. I really enjoy meeting Mich alums everywhere I go...but I was very pleasantly surprised, and also completely blown away by Cleveland Clinic and the CCLCM program. I don't want to get my hopes up too high too soon, but I'd love to hear good news from here. :luck:

Yes. It is always nice to see you guys in your fresh suits looking so smart! :meanie:
It was great to meet all of you! Go Blue! 😉

I know you weren't talking about me--you haven't seen me for a whole month! My point was that you might be over-speculating just a bit too much. It's easy to get caught up in the match neuroticism (don't I know that as well as anyone!). And yet, every year there are an awful lot of people (from Stanford as well as from CCLCM) who manage to get into extremely competitive residency programs without any clinical grades.

I was waxing speculatively, and I apologize if my comments came off as anything more than that. You know what they say: "The most intelligent minds are those that can entertain an idea without necessarily believing it." Apparently, I can too! 😛

The CCLCM program was incredible as well. Everything from the students, curriculum, faculty, resources, etc are just top notch. One of my interviewers even took me down to his lab and showed me the equipment he uses for research and I'm pretty sure my jaw dropped 😱 It was great to meet you too vc777! That morning, my host introduced you to me as the engineer and I didn't piece two and two together until right after.

All in all, a great two days and two excellent schools.
Hmmm...I met you in the hallway when you were putting your luggage in the closet first thing in the morning. Your host and I talked in the anatomy lab locker room a few minutes later and he confirmed my suspicions that you were you...and then I saw you at lunch...but I don't think your host actually introduced me to you?
😕

Nevertheless, I at least know who YOU are 😛. It was nice to meet you as well.

I think you still want to rephrase...it just sounds bad?

So I've been on hold with CCLCM since like what feels like forever, but I was wondering, from past application cycles, at what point should I stop hoping and know it will be a definite rejection? December is beginning and they year will be up soon, and then january will come...I still have hope for an interview but kind of also wish that if they intend on rejecting me they should have done it from the get go. I'll definitely update them with this semesters grades whenever they are out so I hope that helps. *sighs* CCLCM show me some love...

So in my attempt to contribute to the forum that faithfully helped me, I'd say that case is very particular about "fit."....... Research everything about the school. You will know when you did enough of it because that's when you will be convinced that case is a kick-ass school, not just in shallow ranking and public perception wise, but more about the admin and the curriculum's foundation. Once you are convinced, the rest comes naturally. Be enthusiastic and that will show and rub off on your interviewers. All the preparation will allow you to not just answer the questionnaires but lead the direction of the interview.
QFT! First of all, congrats! Hope to see you next July!
As for the rest, this is nail-on-head material. Case interviews are about finding fits.
The most important first step is discovering whether Case is a fit for YOU, by reading the website in depth and making sure it's your style of learning. The next step is being yourself so that Case can see whether you're a perfect fit for Case.
If both match up, you're in for a wonderful 4 years!
If it doesn't work out, it's not because we didn't like you - we like everyone we interview (from what we can get from your app/essays) - it's that Case is very particular is selecting people to fit together.
They pick a wide variety of people to craft a diverse and dynamic class that at the same time has what it takes to work together beautifully. That is absolutely paramount to the success of the program, and that's why we interview so many students. 👍

SDN is part of why I'm here too. In our thread, we try to give you guys a glimpse of how awesome the student body is. 😀 We are not by any means 100% representative of our classmates in terms of personality, so don't get me wrong, but our attitudes about the school 😍and our efforts to help and encourage other students accurately represents the overall atmosphere at Case. So thanks for sharing!

I've got my fingers crossed for the rest of you. :xf:

Interview invite, application submitted ~10/15
Congrats! If you want to get a bit more info about Case and interview days, look for posts by current Case med students under the search for "interview" here in this thread for some tidbits about the school and student body to help you get a little more info.

haha, sorry -- I can't rephrase. Over the years I have felt slighted towards the CWRU med admissions folk... so it probably would be best if I did not attend... but I still would like the interview

Congrats to the first ten folks out there accepted to CCLCM!

Phone calls went out this week!

FYI:

Full committee met last week right before Thanksgiving...

And now I'm very nervous =X... only ~30 acceptances left inc. those off wait list?

So they're not sticking to the Dec 15/Jan 15/Feb 15 dealy?

I'm just gonna throw this out there again because I don't know if anyone saw it the last time...does anyone know how much the merit scholarships usually are or what the ranges are for them? They didn't really talk about them on the interview day but I got a letter saying they're inviting me to apply for them in march.

I'd just like to know if they have typical amounts that they give out...ha of course I'd be applying for them anyway no matter what.

I saw your post last time and figured someone with more knowledge would have responded. Sorry!

Even if someone did reply who was given a merit scholarship, it would be anecdotal as N = 1. From what I recall, the scholarships are heterogeneous.

At best I could tell you it could range from very small to very big. But that isn't very helpful, now is it!

I suggest to everyone to fill out their FASA ASAP and try and assess their finaid packages, including merit scholarships when they roll in.

Are you sure? o.o Here's what I have from the financial aid sheet they gave us during the interview day:

Case Dean's Scholarship -- merit scholarship -- 15 scholarships ranging from $20,000 to $40,000
Satcher-Pamies -- merit scholarship -- 2 students receive $30,000 per year

Hope that answers your question somewhat.

My bad I guess I forgot to actually turn the sheet over...thanks for taking a look at it for me.

I'm not a big fan of the numbers though because even the highest one (probably pretty rare) isn't going to be able to compete with U of Chicago, not to mention they don't send decisions out till April anyway. I like Case though so we'll see.

Thanks, I think I'll have fun visiting Case.

Here's a question. Is there any separation between the CCLCM students and the straight-MD students?

The CCLCM students are over on the Clinic campus down a mile on Euclid. The UP students are on the Case campus.

Anyone know the earliest flight we can schedule out of Cleveland? I want to book a 4pm flight because it's significantly shorter/direct compared to the 5pm/6pm flights.

Would this be feasible?

4PM is probably too early. You have one student interview and one faculty interview, and while the faculty interview could be in the morning, all the student interviews are in the afternoon (between 2PM-4PM). If you speak to the admissions office, you can probably arrange to get your interviews done as early as possible, but I don't think you'd be done any sooner than 2:30. I'm not familiar with the location of the airport or how busy it tends to be though...

When I was there, I recall 30 mins to 1 hour to get from case to the airport, plus other walking, packing, changing and security time as needed. A flight departing at 4PM is probably a really bad idea.

I have asked for another tour of the case campus from my friends...I haven't been there in 5 months. Seriously.

Interview invite today! I was complete 11/22.

First interview slot available was Dec 13th, and the second was in early Jan. I have another interview scheduled for the 13th already, so looks like I'll be heading to Cleveland after the holidays. I can't wait!

yay! have fun riding the red/blue/green lines

Man, the more I read about it the more I want to go to this place.

Does anyone know what the admission numbers are for the CCLCM program - I can't find anything, I can only find info for the university program.

That is because we do not publish our numbers separate from the university program. :ninja:

In all honesty, I think it is best this way. Numbers are not as important as fit.

We are trying to train Physician Investigators. Sometimes this means traits other than straight test scores and GPAs become important. People skills, research experience, and other intangibles in my opinion are very relevant.

Oh I meant the number of applicants/interviews/admissions offers made, not average MCAT or GPA. I've realized that above a certain threshold, no one seems to care about that stuff (a 40 MCAT won't open doors a 35 wouldn't open either).

I wonder what percentage of students accepted wind up accepting the offer. I don't think anyone would pass up a med school with free tuition, but maybe some students would rather go to MSTP programs.

Anyway, I'm definitely liking cleveland clinic more and more.

what is the application process like on CCLCM's side from now on? I heard the committee only meets 3 times a year? Does that mean only 30 people will get offers...

I really like the school and hope they liked me too ><

The class size is 32. We cannot over accept like large programs since year-to-year there can be great variability in the number who decline vs. accepted. Theorectically we could accept exactly 32. In reality, we will likely accept around 40+. But please don't take that as The Word, ok?

To your second comment: Some people have different priorities academically and indeed personally. For you, this might be a wonderful option, but for others there could be outside factors that steer them away from CCLCM. Remember too that many students who are highly desirable to our program are also wanted elsewhere. It isn't a stretch to think they could have full-tuition scholarships elsewhere MSTP or otherwise.

Not quite moomoose...the FULL committee convenes only a few times. This culminates with a batch of acceptances. There is no set number to be accepted at each meeting. Applicants who already were considered at past full meetings may also be revisited. Read my above post as to total number.

By the final meeting, 32 people will be accepted, and a waitlist will be formed. As people decline their acceptances and spots open up, more acceptances will go out.

Of note is that the AAMC "traffic date" for ALL of Case (both programs) is earlier than most schools. Because we start so early, all those accepted need to make a final decision and withdraw elsewhere by then.

After that date, people will be notified possibly up to the first day of classes about acceptances.

For those of you interviewing tomorrow (and this week in general), please be aware that we are expecting the following weather:

a) snow
b) omgwind

Please prepare accordingly!

Aaaaahhhh W The most underrated vowel in the English language...

I see what you're doing.😏

For those of you who'll be in town Monday night, consider checking out the Carlton Commons Doc Opera rehearsals.🙂👍
