recieved an interview invite yesterday, I was told it was scheduled for jan 14. jan 14th seemed a bit far out...did anyone else experience this?

Hey guys... I submitted my application to Hopkins on August 24th, got an email indicating it was received on September 1st, and I have never gotten word that the application was complete. I should probably call the admissions office at this point, right?

Hopkins is somewhat notorious for having randomly long waits before your application is complete. That said, it has been 2 months, so calling might not be a bad idea. You might have not fufilled a requirement or left some field blank, and the office could tell you that.

Also on an unrelated note, anyone know when in November the Adcoms meet?

So after getting an interview I have tried to email the contact they gave to confirm my interview date but I've gotten no response after two attempts since the 30th, any one else encountering this?

You wrote them during the weekend, when they are not fully staffed AFAIK. Give it a couple of business days at least before trying them again.

Does anyone know how many invites they send out?

Hi,

I interview on 10/7. If anyone hears back who interview that day, please post! I would love love to go to Hopkins. Eagerly waiting....

i called the admissions office (i interviewed a week earlier though) and was told 'all accepted applicants from that date have been notified'

From which date, your date or 10/7?

i got an email a few weeks ago saying they received my secondary and it is my responsibility to make sure they have my letters from amcas.

do i need to call or something, or is it all waiting now?

I just got my rejection letter today. I interviewed on 9/17 and the letter was dated 11/1. Good luck to the rest of you! Hopkins seemed like it offers tons of awesome opportunities. I guess the silver lining for me was that I really liked Hopkins, but my wife really disliked Baltimore--now I won't have to pick between the two.

You should get an extra complete email a few weeks after you received the "receipt of secondary" email.

Hi all, just finished my interview at hopkins. This school is really amazing. I like everything about the school especially the people here are very friendly. The hospital and facilities are really advance and you get exposed to tons of things you wouldn't see else where.

Don't let people scare you away from Baltimore, its actually a really nice city and everyone who lives here loves it. It doesn't seem unsafe like some people make it out to be. I'll be exploring the area over the weekend to get a better idea of the city. Good luck everyone!

Hey guys, I was placed on the alternate list. What does this mean? 🙂

About Baltimore and safety: I went for a run d own to the waterfront and someone tried to sell me crack on the way...I'm not biased but let's just say I give it an A for effort.

well you should have received a letter in the mail with the answer to your question.

alternate list = wait list

if you read the previous pages on this thread, you'll discover that around 3 ppl got off the alternate list for two years in a row.

does Hopkins have a "continued" list where they continue to consider you each session or do they decide once and for all if you're going to accepted, waitlisted, or rejected at the meeting where they discuss about you?

there is only one list. they rank people on the list but they won't tell you your rank. they will only start contacting people on the list until early june. your prospects aren't good if you are placed on the hopkins wait list.

Its a little weird how only few got off the list in the past two years. They told up that 3 or 4 years ago almost 50 people got off the waitlist. I wonder why the sudden change.

hopkins became pass/fail two years ago and they opened their awesome armstrong education building as well in 2009. they're building a new hospital which is supposed to be completed in a couple of years.

Interviewed on 10/7. I called admissions and they said the committee is meeting for that date "sometime this week"......ahh this will now be the longest week EVER haha

Interviewing on the 19th....any tips?

An awesome experience. This was my first interview and I was a bit worried the nite before, but the whole thing was very stress free. You are going to love the school and the students!

:luck:

Make sure you're sociable when you're just "hanging out" (note: you're not actually just hanging out) with the MS4s and other applicants. You ARE being judged. On my interview day they seemed to make a concerted effort to rotate and talk to everyone, so you don't need to be a total suck-up and hog them. But make sure that you're not sitting in some corner texting or something like that. Beyond that, have fun.

Not my experience. It was hard to get a word in when I interviewed.

That's unfortunate. Were the students just not very sociable or did you have a group of gunners trying to hog them?
I had one student tryna hog them but the M4s were smarter than him/her
But yea very friendly M4s and i got to talk to all of them. I dont know y yours was an unpleasant experience I actually liked that part of the interview because I had different opinions and different reasons y they all chose hopkins over other skuls

Well, the students were really keen on sharing their experiences and things about Hopkins, so it was hard to interrupt them and make it into a conversation. I definitely appreciated their input, but it was less of a two-way interaction than I expected.

My tour guide told me that they evaluate applicants this way to screen for people who present well in interviews, but are mean or weird in a regular social setting. But by telling applicants that they are being evaluated, aren't they just creating another artificial display of sociality?

In any case, I was very impressed by the rest of the interview day (students, facilities, faculty). Faculty and student interviewers were both extremely personable.

so i was just marked complete
does this mean that if i were to get an interview, is this when they are really quick at notifying me, like a few days?
