...Rejected...5th one so far...but I guess that was expected...

28R, 3.97sGPA, 3.95cGPA, OOS
 
So it seems that the last time BU sent out a rejection batch was around 7/25... so... three weeks ago?? Ahh I guess far more waiting for those of us who haven't heard back yet. I wonder when the interview invites are going out...

Complete July 25. Just got the rejection. 35/3.8. Second year rejected, they must really not like me... Gah getting anxious. I'm a reapplicant and this is the second rejection from the only two schools I've heard back so far. Really makes me not wanna work on the remaining secondaries 🙁

meh too, rejection. lol i wonder what factors they're looking for leads them to drop high stat/well rounded candidates w/o interview, rejecting lower stats (< 3.7/32) is no surprise but i am rather curious, unless of course it is mostly the 'safety' reason...ah well screw 'em, lol.

I didn't apply to BU... but it seems like BU has been as harsh as Tulane.

Goes to show us all that this process is more than just numbers. Scary, but true.

This one hurts cause I thought I was safe after getting the 30 day email.

Wow! This thread has been terrible the last 24hrs. I can't believe how many qualified applicants are being rejected, especially the one's who received 30-day emails.

I don't see the logic in sending a 30 day email and then rejecting... feel for all the statistically qualified applicants who were rejected in what seems like an early massacre. I hope people completed in early August are ready...
 
I feared this would happen after reading the blurb about how they cut down applicants. The initial pool was cut down within three weeks, and now the bigger cuts after 30 days.

I'm still standing (knock on wood). Complete back in 6/24.

I'm not sure that's true. I have a friend who's an MS1 at BU and she said that the biggest cuts are around the 3 week mark, and that most (but not all) of the people who receive the 30 day email end up getting an interview. I could have misunderstood but that's the impression I got from her...

I'm not sure either. Somewhere on the 4th or 5th page there's a blurb from Admissions which says the cuts approximately go 12,000 -> 7,500 -> 1000 interviews. If the 1st cut is what we've been seeing as the "3-week rejection," we might be hitting that insane 2nd cut now.

Everyone on here who has been rejected thus far received rejection roughly 3 weeks to the date of completion of their application. So its been reviewed in order of completion and rejected in similar order rather then mass rejections all on one day later on.

So far whoever has received the 30 day email, and made it past 3 weeks has received an interview roughly a bit after such for the most part.

There are about 12,000 applicants to BU this year. They first trim it down to 7500 applicants so even qualified high scorers have gotten rejected. There are then 1000 interview spots roughly across 3 days of the week for each week of interview cycle. These are so far given to a percent of the people who got the 30 day email.

Some who have gotten the 30 day email have not yet received an interview but most on this thread have.

So our belief is people who don't make the initial prescreening get cut within roughly 3 weeks.

I was a 3-weeker, right on the money. I wonder if they're just really strict about prereqs; I guess I didn't technically fulfill them at a "preferred institution." Oopsies.

All of my FAP-friendly last-minute back-ups are blowing up in my face, geez.

I didn't either maybe that's why I am out after 35 days.
 
FWIW, I never got an e-mail from BU. I just checked my status this morning. Perhaps I will get an official rejection e-mail within the next few days.
 
Rejected too. Complete on 7/29/11 🙁

I guess my 3.75 at Georgetown's SMP wasn't good enough
 
Wow... any 30 day emails received lately amidst the crazy amount of rejections? I only see one person in the last 24 hours out of like 35 rejection posts. I feel for everyone who has been rejected... 🙁 I am still trying to stay optimistic and hopeful about this process, though.
 
🙁 one of my good friends got rejected from boston today too, even though her stats are stellar! it makes me more anxious.

has anyone who was complete in august heard from boston yet?
 
I haven't heard anything yet, but I just got my committee letter on Monday (aka I just received the complete email yesterday). *sigh* I feel like it put me so far behind! I'm crossing my fingers though.

That quoted blurb is what I was referring to - that the pool gets cut twice, it's just that we hoped that getting the 30 day email meant that we made the 2nd cut (and there was the impression that 30 = interview). Obviously not, as plenty of people who received that email have been rejected.
