I have been waiting for the supplemental application for a few months, and I finally received it today. 😀 I am hoping it won't be as long of a wait to recieve an interview.

I got my II five days after I got the request for supplemental email. Not sure if that's normal, but it was very quick!

Does anyone know if Indiana has sent out any POST-interview rejection notices? They were quite ambiguous with the whole "non-acceptance" thing being sent on a "periodic basis".
 
Hope everyone is getting through finals and what not and ready for holiday season. I just wanted to know what you guys thought my chances for acceptance were. I've already interview, I thought it went well. I have a 3.68 gpa (3.64 science) and a 30 on my MCAT. Also, I'm in state. IU is definitely my top choice so hopefully they'll show me some love.
 
Finally received my interview date, scheduled for 1/25/12 at 8:45 am. Got the supplemental initial email on 11/10/11.

I saw the early time, and at first I thought, well dang, going to have to wake up at 5:15 to leave by 6 (2 hour drive). Just realized I'm in CST and the interview is EDT. 4:15am?!?!

Is getting a hotel a better idea? That's crazy early....
 
I would definitely look into getting a hotel or finding someone at the school to stay with the night before. Admissions may be able to direct you to students who are willing to host? Not sure on that one. I definitely wouldn't want to make the drive that early, and who knows what the weather will be like at the end of January.

About a week after I received my interview invite I got an email asking if I wanted to be set up with a student host to spend the night before my interview with. They mentioned it was for students "traveling from out of town", so I'm not sure how far out of town you have to be, but I would definitely do that if you get an offer! I really enjoyed getting to meet some students, and it was free!
 
If you have had an interview, most rejections won't be sent out until end of May. They do this so that they can make a waitlist in April.
 
Does anyone know if we get an e-mail or something if we are accepted? Or do we just wait it out through the weekend to see if something comes in the mail?

I didn't receive an email. I had to wait it out through the weekend until the acceptance came via snail-mail. I'm assuming that's how it was for everyone...

I got an email on a Friday and then about a week or so later I got the actual packet.
 
I called admissions on the 15 but all they said was I am under review but letters were mailed out. So does that mean I just wait and hope I get a letter next month. Idk
 
Thanks guys! My car tends to breakdown at the most inopportune moments so I'm going to have to talk with my parents. It hit the twelve year mark last week and I swear it sounded like the thing was crying every time I turned it on. Turns out it was just low on power steering fluid haha....
 
Got my acceptance letter in the mail yesterday - so happy!
 
Received a 4-year tuition scholarship offer yesterday! I'm happy about that 🙂 Was accepted in Sept.
 
Got that packet in the mail today! No e-mail or anything for me. For those who have already been admitted, how did the campus placement process go?
 
Hey everyone. I figured since I read the forums so much I should contribute (to the mayhem). Acceptance letter today in the mail, no email. FYI - letter was sent to my permanent address not the preferred.

Good question.

I've lived in Indy's shadow for the last 1.5 yrs so it will be my first choice for the same reason given by another poster: the abundant opportunities in and out of the classroom. I also like huge classes and prefer a large urban setting to live in. Weird, I know. Plus, I've pretty much scratched out the PBL/team based learning campuses as preferences. This is simply because I've had plenty of success and years of experience learning in a traditional lecture format, so why would I want to change it up in med school???

Thanks and good luck to you all. I may still get a choice of schools (jury is still out), but at least I'll be going somewhere and IU is great! As a re-applicant who was discouraged the last time I applied and then worked my ass off for years to strengthen my application, I can say that perseverance will (eventually) pay off.
 
I just got a request for secondary materials today. Does this mean I'll get an interview invite for sure?
 
I know that Indiana requires updated transcripts for applicants that are still in school. But, does anyone know if they require receipt of the updated transcript before making an admission decision on a specific file or is the transcript just required before matriculation of an admitted applicant?

My understanding is that as soon as you complete a semester, you have to send an updated transcript reflecting that semester's grades to the admissions office. You don't have to send all your transcripts until later. I assume if they haven't reviewed your file prior to receiving your most recent grades, they'll take them into account when they end up reviewing your file.

Yes, I understand this. But, will they wait for my fall transcript before they make a decision on my file, is it required?
 
Will IU give me the same in-state preference even though I attended a private university in FL for the past 4 years. Parents still live in IN and lived all my life, but college here. Since I am still Dependant upon my parents, I'm fairly certain I qualify as an in-state resident for tuition and such. I know Fl does NOT consider me a resident. Any insight would be great, Thanks!

In my experience, no. I was accepted a few days after the semester ended and haven't sent an updated transcript yet (doing that on monday). I even had an outstanding prereq (O-chem II) but was offered a position in the incoming class contingent on completion of that class. Could be a case by case situation though?

If you never applied for residency in Florida, then you are not a Florida resident and are still an Indiana resident...
 
Well I have done everything I could to "apply for residency" in Florida (FL license, voters registration, s.s. card, lots of mail to off campus address) but there is a law that basically prevents people from becoming residents if they come to FL for education, which I did. Tried every way to get around it... not going to happen. It would be nice to have a state school to apply to though. Hopefully the FL degree means something to IU even though it is a small school.
 
Hey guys this may be a stupid question but does the dean of students form have to be mailed in by my university, i.e like a recommendation letter, or can I have them fill it out and then mail it myself? Not that I don't trust them to mail it in, but I'd rather mail it myself to ensure it doesn't get lost or forgotten.

Like your official transcript, I believe it has to be mailed directly by the Dean of Students office.

Since you should be sending your school an addressed and postage-paid envelope to send it in, do what I did. Send an envelope with certified postage/paperwork attached with the delivery confirmation and just write your dean a note asking to please use it and email you when they send it off.
 
Most schools will use their own envelope and postage and charge a processing fee to your student billing account.

Interesting, we don't get charged, we just provide stuff.

I guess you should just call up the dean of student's office and ask at your own school.
 
Thanks guys, they emailed me back and told me to make sure it was sealed by my university and then either I can send it to them or the university can.

I should have clarified. Most state schools. I suppose that's what happens when you have limited state funding.

State school here. Probably why we have to provide the envelopes 🙂 Yay Oregon and their inability to fund education!
 
I got the secondary packet on Dec 21st, 2 weeks after submitting my application. I am OOS applicant so I didn't expect this at all since most OOS seem to get rejected pre-interview.

Waiting for an interview date. Keeping my fingers crossed that it doesn't conflict with my other dates.
 
I just got my notification of campus placement - Northwest. I did put it as my first choice (shock!) since it's near Chicago and seemed to have a curriculum style closest to how I learn best (more out of classroom time for self-directed learning). But has anyone known any students who did their first two years at Northwest? I've been accepted another place, and going to Gary instead of Boston isn't really that appetizing... Though looking on the bright side, I would save a whole lot in loans living in Gary.

Do you know where to find specific information on the differences between the regional campuses? They gave us some info on interview day but I am filling out the forms now and was wondering if there was anywhere else to look?

i was accepted 12/17.... in state GPA 3.7 SGPA 3.6 MCAT 30R yay!

thinking about putting bloomington as my first choice 🙂 but unsure how to rank the rest
