I heard on some interview that the four most hated athletes are Kobe Bryant, Michael Vick, Ben Roethlesberger (sp?) and Tom Brady. Ridiculous how he is as hated as a rapist, and dog-killer and a child molester.

I never understood all the Tom Brady hate. He's passionate, well-spoken, humble, and a damn good quarterback. He doesn't talk ****, and he's professional. I mean he's rich and has a hot wife and three super bowl rings, so I guess that's a good reason to hate 🙂

Idk, Brady seems like an arrogant crybaby to me.

I tried to come up with a good explanation, but I feel as though this represents what I want to say pretty well:

(Don't hate me, New England-folk]

Ah, that does clear it up...turns out that you don't necessarily dislike brady, but rather you dislike all quarterbacks!

Well, there goes my turn. Rejected today, and completed 9/4.

Good luck everyone!

Did anyone else apply to the MD/MACI program? I am interviewing in early November and I know we don't apply for the MACI until we are accepted to the MD program, but I wonder if the tone of the MD interview is different for those applying for a research-oriented track.

edit: i was complete 8/22 for those that are interested and was invited for an interview ~10 days ago.

Strongly disagree. He is one of the most humble guys in the NFL. Read the book "Moving the Chains" by Charles Pierce.

Read the book "Brady's demeanor on ESPN and post-game interviews"

So I got placed on hold for two reasons, missing a science letter (submitted a research instead) and 2 of my letters were not official letterhead. Do you guys think I will be able to call them up and waive the letterhead thing, I really don't want to bother my letter writers as one of them even wrote my letter like 6-7 months ago.

They say that research letters count as "other" but under circumstance they will allow it to count as a science if you write a reason why, my research was taken for upper division Bio credit (if that counts lol)- should I just give up on BU?

Unfortunately they stated very specifically that letters have to be on institutional letterheads. Might reflect badly if you asked for a waiver. On the other hand, you've already paid the application fee so might as well ask instead of just giving up on BU. If I were you, I'd just ask your recommenders to add it. After all, they would want the best for you unless of course they have short term memory and have forgotten all about you.

On another note..... Interview Invite! Sweet. 😍

They're pretty stingy on the official letterhead thing. I had to deal with that about a month ago and they weren't very nice about it

So wait, you contacted the office and they told you specifically that's the reason you were placed on hold? And if so, is that the sole reason?

In any case, even if you are just speculating as to the cause of your hold status, I partly agree that having already paid to submit the secondary, it would be worth a shot. That said, BU rejects a LOT of people, even if they have good stats and even if they have all their letters written on official letterheads. I have a feeling that waiving the letterhead requirement won't make that much of a difference in your likelihood of getting an interview invite. You have to make the decision based on how much trouble you'd have to go through and how much you really want to go to BU.

Best of luck! :luck:

I'm flying out there on Friday for my interview on Monday. Any advice for the interview? Do they throw in any curveball questions?

They emailed me and said that was the reason. I guess I'll email my LOR writers because this may be an issue at other schools as well :/

I think you'll need to get those letters resubmitted. They wouldn't take off my hold until my IA letter was sent and received by them. I ended up getting an interview too, so I don't think they'll just let you slide even if you are a desirable applicant.

Guys can any one tell me what are my chances for Boston Uni?

I'm a foreign medical student...
Studied 2 years in a Canadian top State University
GPA 3.8 --- MCAT 34
Bunch of research and voluntary both in Canada and abroad

I submitted today... i saw you guys have submitted much earlier and I'm thinking if i'm too late?
Ohhhh Jesus !!😕

What, why would you apply to an American med school if you're already in a Canadian one that probably costs much less?

2 years of undergrad, so you don't have your degree yet?

I was a medical student outside of Canada... Then I enrolled in a undergrad program at a Canadian university and I received 2 years transfer credit... I studied 2 years and got my bachelor.... now going to apply to us schools... this is the story !

Does BU do a lot of silent rejections? I have been complete since 7/30 and have not heard anything from them since the 30-day email (which I got almost 30 days ago...)

I'm not claiming to have any actual knowledge of BU's admissions process, but they seem to be really good about handing out rejections/interview invitations in a timely manner. Considering this, i would try to look at it positively that they haven't rejected you yet...perhaps you made it into some sort of re-review pool. That said, if you don't hear in the next couple weeks, perhaps it's worth a call.

This is my interpretation as well.. based solely on my own experience this cycle.

As far as I know, BUSM notifies every applicant about a decision, be it reject/interview etc. I don't remember how long I waited after the 30 day email, but I recall some people waiting quite a while. If you haven't heard back from them yet, assume you're still in the running.

+1 complete 8/6. Haven't heard anything yet.

Rejected today. Complete 9/11. Quick turn around. 3.5/32. They must have hated me 🙁

Rejection today, complete 9/10, 3.7/32

sorry.. your stats looks good for this university... at least not that bad to get rejection so soon... can u give us more detail about your case?
thanks

Pretty much cookie cutter ECs. I did however have an unbalanced 32 (8 in VR) so maybe that turned them away.

Thanks for your response. You are probably right. Any way good luck with other schools.

I think BU is just very picky about the entire application. As a URM with a 3.00/33, I think my stats are about equivalent to an ORM with 3.5/32 in terms of chances of matriculating. They offered me an ii. There were others earlier in this thread with near 3.8+/38+ who got rejected as well. Don't take it personally!

I think when it boils down to it, for a school like BU if you don't have something interesting to say, or if you can't write well about super cookie cutter stuff, even if the stats are super high they will reject you.

After paging through the thread I don't think this has been asked yet. Does anyone know how many total acceptances are given out?

Rejected today. Not hugely surprising but still, it's my first letter back from any med school besides complete/small pool. At least I know that this is a school that rejects a lot of awesome people so I'm in good company!

Complete 9/11, Rejected 10/1.

Hopefully the next one is admission dude
Do you mind sharing ur mcat/gpa with us?

I was complete on 9/11, no news yet. 3.67 / 34 URM. I suppose I should be receiving something soon. crossing fingers.

Yeah sure, my stats: 33, 3.63 cGPA, 3.49 sGPA. Lots of volunteering with global health emphasis.

Fingers crossed!

mah ninjas, is anybody interviewing tomorrow? I may or may not be. 😉

anyone want to split a hotel for October 9th stay, interviewing on October 10th?

completed mid-August. haven't heard a thing back. rejection?

I wouldn't be so sure. Seems like they are pretty diligent about getting back to applicants (with either good news or bad) so you should be happy you are still in the running.

whats ii?? Im urm too with 3.31/33M what are my chances??

ii=interview invite

As for your chances, there is no way we can give you a good answer for any particular school (i noticed you posted a similar question on NYU's thread). I could give you a list of the schools you are applying to along with a list of the probability that you get into of those schools. However, i am certain that list would be pretty much 100% inaccurate. The way the admissions process works is somewhat mysterious and sometimes totally perplexing; at every school you see people with incredible numbers get rejected and people with mediocre numbers get accepted. The only way to overcome the uncertainty of the medical school admissions process is to apply to a LOT of schools and don't get too attached to any one school until you've at least interviewed.

As for your numbers, 33M is good, but the 3.31 might hold you back a bit. I'd say BU (and NYU for that matter) is definitely worth a shot if time/money isn't an issue. Filling out secondaries at most schools, you are essentially buying expensive lottery tickets for a ~1:10 chance to get an interview haha.
