Decisions are out! Accepted!!!!!!!!!!!!! (by email 9:38am)

Just got that acceptance e-mail. Second look is April 5-7. Time to make tough choices!

Good luck everyone!

How many people are waitlisted usually and how many offers are made after the initial acceptances?

when do accepted students have to respond by?

I'm not sure. I think it will say in the letter that goes out in the mail tomorrow -- so I think you have to send in some sort of paper form.

Reeeejected. As expected. Never had a worse interview in my life - so bad it colored my impression of the school entirely.

All I can say is that both of my student interviews in Cornell and Harvard did not do me any justice. I felt incredibly uncomfortable and the faculty really liked me. At each one they said they would really fight for me, so I'm guessing that the not-so-well student interviews were my weakest points.

Waitlisted as well. 🙁
If anyone has any numbers regarding waitlist movement, I would love to hear them!
Alternatively, can any current med students report what percentage of their class they believe to have gotten in off the waitlist?

Congrats to everyone on the acceptances!! I also received the email at 9:38 am. I interviewed in September, and had some of my... Strangest... Interviews here. I heard in previous years there has been waitlist movement.

Interesting with the interviews. My two here were uneventful, while at other places that are notorious for being 'laid back' I got hit with some of the most uncomfortable interactions ever!

Cornell was definitely my worst/shortest/off-putting faculty interview. I'm guessing my student interview balanced it out though.

I had one like that too, were those just stress interviews I wonder?

Can any student comment on how the faculty are like normally?

I retract my statement. I wouldn't say I had a "stressed" interview, I just don't think I connected with my student interview very much and she didn't really seem to care about me. But, in all honesty I cannot complain.

Congrats to those who were accepted and those will be!!

Wait list for me.

It's interesting to hear about everyone's interview experiences, and it seems like Weill stands out in one way or another for most everyone. I had the most unique interview of my entire season here, but I thought it was a lot of fun and that it went fairly well. Maybe not as well as I thought!

I'll definitely be sticking on this wait list, though, and their accepted/WL numbers are posted a couple pages ago in this thread somewhere. From what I hear there's a good deal of movement.

Waitlist. Oh well I think ill be withdrawing from it though since I already have an acceptance I'm very happy with.

Waitlist here, was hopeful for more because I loved it here, but probably couldn't afford to go to school here anyway!!!

I had one super comfortable interview and one where the interviewer just didn't seem to care or was making negative/not caring body language purposefully, which kind of echoes the sentiments above. Both were faculty.

Accepted earlier today! I also had a very tough faculty interview that was slightly antagonistic (but a super friendly and down-to-earth student interview).

My advice to those who are searching this thread in the future is to be cool and calm in the face of danger... I think many of the faculty certainly love pushing buttons to see how you react. The last thing you want to do is to lose your cool or to say contradictory things, neither of which would be good for a physician to do. It's okay to disagree and stand your ground though.

Good luck to everyone on the waitlist! :luck:

Does Weill Cornell give out need-based scholarships, or is it all loans? Looked through last year thread, seems the finanical aid is not that good.

Not exact numbers, but Goosewing posted:

"I just looked through last year's thread and, apart from the acceptances, there appeared to be a lot of people getting waitlisted and only a couple rejections post-interview. Nobody posted about getting off the waitlist until after May 15th."

So, of 750 interviews, I'm ballparking 200 acceptances, 500 waitlists, and 50 rejections. Then, as Wangers said earlier, ~300 get accepted overall, so about 100 waitlist offers from the 500.

These are estimates from observations, not concrete facts!

The financial aid information they sent out is quite detailed. They apparently have about 5 million a year in need based scholarships.
