He same thing happened to me. I called the admissions office. The secondary was sent to me the next morning.

Same exact thing happened to me. Kind of frustrating to be waiting all this time just to find out they messed up sending out some secondary requests.

P.S. I can't seem to log on their submission form today...

I hear you. I thought about/might still complain about it, but the sad truth is, it's most likely not gonna make a difference, not like they are gonna make amends or anything...

I just tried, was able to log in.

Duke's not rolling admissions anyways, so truthfully it's probably not putting you at much of a disadvantage. I'm sure it's still frustrating/annoying though.

So I posted previously about getting a secondary invite e-mail in place of a supposed interview invite e-mail.

Has anyone gotten a II on their app page but got a 2nd secondary invite e-mail instead?

I've called multiple times and the lady picking up told me that she'd do something about it "I'll walk across the hall and tell IT, etc." but I haven't heard back from them in like 2 weeks.

I just want to know where the hell to go and a schedule of the day 😡

Hey, thanks for the reminder. Is interview invite on a rolling basis?

No problem! Yes, interviews are on a rolling basis, so it's still better to be in earlier. But their secondary was very long, so if you get (or got) yours in quickly you won't be behind 🙂

Is there any advantage to doing sooner rather than later. Someone mentioned that they have an internal rolling admissions process?

I got an interview!!!! Omg freaking out such a reach!

Congrats man! I've really got my fingers crossed for Duke...I worked SO hard on that secondary. Put in a good word for me while you're there! ;-)

Thanks guys! I'll post here how MMI was. I feel lucky now that I had MMI at Virginia tech a couple weeks ago

Interview invite this morning! Thank you Lord!!
When did you submit your secondary application? How long did it take get your invitation? Congratulations 🙂

Any action over here the last couple days?

It seems that you are the only one getting any action here. 🙂

I'm gonna guess based off of the completion dates of a lot of SDNers, other people should hear soon-ish. We can live vicariously through you all.

I also got an interview, couldn't stop grinning when I saw it! 😀DDD

I'm trying to pick a date for Duke...October is really busy for me so it's either September or November. I'd rather do November because Duke is one of my top, top choices, but then again it's not like I can use the other interviews as practice because Duke is MMI. But there is no disadvantage to interviewing late, since Duke is non-rolling right? Sorry if this is confusing, I'm still in shock!

Also does anyone know if Duke has student hosts?

They do. When I got my interview confirmation thy said they provide them but if u have a Monday interview then it is hard because the exams are on Monday's.

And you are correct. Duke is non-rolling. I don't think a Nov. interview will hurt you at all. Congratulations!

II today. Secondary completed 7/9. Good luck!

I wonder if Duke is receptive to in the area letters. I guess it wouldn't hurt to try.

I did not get an e-mail. I just checked my status.

I was complete July 9th.

Checked status. Says invited for interview. Should I call the admissions office to confirm?

MS1 here, happy to answer any questions you guys have.

Should I revoke my app? I only have 3 LOR 2 science 1 nonscience and i believe duke requires 4?

I have a question about #1 on the Duke application. It reads:
Describe the community in which you were nurtured or spent the majority of your early development with respect to its demographics. What core values did you receive and how will these translate into the contributions that hope to make to your community as a medical student and to your career in medicine?

I don't know quite how to interpret "demographics" in this question. I find myself wanting to write about family and my conditions growing up, but demographics to me means the birth rate, death rate, median income, etc. I feel like I'm getting off track on this essay. How are other people interpreting this?

Thank you!

II this morning.

Any advantage to interviewing early vs late? I've heard Duke isn't rolling admissions.

I interviewed here recently.

Everyone is SUPER nice. It was such a relaxed day and the MMI interview is a lot of fun! The people at duke are wonderful and are extremely passionate about their medical school, and accepting students who they feel will truly make a difference in someone else's lives.

I fell in love with the school and had a great and irreplaceable experience. I hope you all have a similar experience and enjoy your interview day as much as I did

The students were also so happy haha they swarmed us at breakfast and lunch and answer all your questions.

I wrote about how there are a lot of Asians and Hispanics in the community and the high school I went too. My take on this essay was that I didn't extensively go over/describe everything there is to the demographics of my community, but just one or two things that mean something or have had an impact on you, or how you have responded or grown or developed under the circumstances. Hope that helps.

Interview tomorrow!!! This is the first one I am actually kind of nervous for due to the format.

Hey guys, I was wondering if anyone here who recently interviewed received the Survey to fill out that they mentioned would be required in order to send our application to the committee for final review?

Thanks!

I haven't gotten one.

Hey SDN, can someone who's gotten an II do me a huge favor?
So I got an interview via the app webpage, but got a 2nd secondary request instead >.<

I called multiple times...got the "we'll take care of it response" each time...well, never heard from Duke since.

Could someone post (or PM) me a copy of their II e-mail? I just wanna see how the day is planned. Thank you!

Basically you sign up for your morning or afternoon MMI. Say for example u pick afternoon. Well in the morning you go check in and eat breakfeast with the students. Ask them questions and all. Then Dr. Armstrong the DoA comes and speaks to you ( she is amazing by the way. Great individual). So after you hear her you split up and you will either go to the mMI if you picked morning. Or go on a tour if you picked the afternoon MMI. With the Tour you get a curriculum overview by one of the faculty members and then a lecture on financial aid that duke provides. They also provide lunch where you can talk with students more. After all is said and done and you finish your interviews and tours Mr. Wallace will send you off (he is also an incredible person) and bam your all done.

All in all it's a fun and relaxed day. You'll love it. Sorry if this was riddled with spelling mistakes. I'm on my phone.

What do the ask you in the MMI's? The email they sent made it sound like they were sending you around to stations where you are trying to solve puzzles or something off the wall like that haha

You sign a NDA at the start of the day. It would be unwise to reveal much about the mmi as duke might be able to narrow down the poster's identity by which prompts they reported.

I'll simply say that they are nothing to stress over (and nothing you can really prepare for anyway).

You'll look back and see that it wasn't a big deal at all.

Good luck!

Yeah I was just about to say this. The most I will say is what I said above. And what Blais said. Just be relaxed and the prompts won't be difficult and you'll have fun.

Current MS2 here. All the non-disclosure agreements aside, you can always try googling "MMI example" or something and seeing what comes up; it's what I did back when I interviewed at UCLA (Duke just switched this past app cycle). In general, there isn't much you can do to prepare since the prompts are confidential and probably change. But if you're super stressed out about it and need SOMETHING to look at, there's some decent examples online to get a general feel of the types of questions that are likely to show up at some point on your interview day.

Good luck everyone! Feel free to message me with questions; I'm on clinical year right now so things are a bit hectic, but I'm usually pretty good with responding.

INTERVIEW INVITE!! I can't believe it! Complete mid-July cgpa 3.7, 35 MCAT

I had depressingly thought that Duke had forgotten about me and had been considering sending an in the area email to make them look at me but I knew I would never be anywhere near North Carolina lol

This shows that they don't necessarily go in order received...? There's hope for those of us complete mid-July or earlier that haven't heard back from schools yet!

Anyone else trying to fill the survey and it says the feedback can't be saved?

Guys, do we need 4 LOR, or will 3 suffice, I don't know if I shiould withdraw :/

just got an II. email invite. 11:40pm EST...

Anyone (preferably females) interviewing on 10/8 who would like to share a room with me at the Millenium hotel? I'm a girl. I currently have a double superior queen room. PM me if interested and we can talk on Skype to meet each other so you can make sure I'm not a creeper. Cost would be $43/person - we'd split the fare two ways.

Little bit of a problem here. My AMCAS was verified in the first week of September. I still haven't even gotten a secondary yet from Duke. Should I be worried? Should I call the admissions office or am I worrying needlessly? I've completed all of my other secondaries and have 1 interview invite so far, but Duke's really toward the top of my list. I have good grades and a competitive MCAT, but I didn't think Duke screened anyway so I don't understand what's going on.

Any help would be much appreciated.
