(Side note... we're due to be in the main building by ... oh, say 10:50 or so? I noticed they listed check-in as being from 9:00-11:00... what on earth are people doing with those two hours?)

I stayed at a hotel, so I got up, worked out, and read the paper a bit. After extensive primping, positive statements to my reflection in the mirror, and 4 rounds of "Smells Like Teen Spirit," I finally made my way over around 10:45. Many others did the same or similar.

Good luck!

II here today! Complete early September. Couldn't be more excited. Especially because for once I can sleep at home the night before an interview 🙂

I would keep that hope strong! I had basically lost all hope in MCoW until today. But, no, they did not mention anything about waitlist. There were two dates still open- March 1st and March 22nd for your reference.

I got the same email this morning with march dates open, except mine does say "We are now interviewing only for placement on our wait list. Please know that we do rely on the wait list to fill our class." When i call to book the interview, it goes straight to voicemail.

Just kidding I was so excited I skipped over that sentence in the first paragraph. Mine is for waitlist only as well. They might be on lunch right now I'd keep trying they answered my call immediately.

I withdrew my application from the small pool today. Good luck to everyone who is waiting for an interview here.

Good luck to everyone that will be receiving their answers today! :luck:

Accepted!!! So stoked, MCW was extremely impressive on interview day. Can't wait to go there.

Congrats to all of you who were accepted today!

is there any Interview Invite sent recently? Or are they done with IIs ? 😕

Wow am I reading that email right in that the tuition increased $4k/year up to $49,100? Unless they give out a scholarship, it looks like I may be withdrawing from here sooner than later 🙁

Yeah, I just got this e-mail too. It definitely looks that way.

I did not get an email about a $4k increase, how long ago were you guys accepted, and who sent that email out?

Crazy thing? Still >$4k cheaper than my IS.

Nearly all schools raise their tuition each year, so this should not come as any surprise. I think one year UIC went up 9% and ended up somewhere around 70K for instate. Under 50K is still a very competitive price for a private out of state school.

been in the small pool since september and still nothing

Same here. Are you instate? I called there a few days ago and they say there are still some interviews being sent out but the end is approaching quick. Still hoping though...

Accepted!!!

This was def my favorite place I've interviewed at.

I interviewed on 2/15.

Current students: I was just told by someone who heard through the grapevine that mcw is on probation/lost accreditation/something along these lines.. this was a very unofficial source so I'm not jumping to any conclusions but can someone who knows about this please elaborate? I had been sold on here over uw but now I'm questioning it

I'm not! Like I said this was through word of mouth from unofficial ppl but it freaked me out. Does anyone know anything about this?

Edit: ok did a little research and saw that in 2011 Mcw received an 8 year accreditation. But does anyone know if they're on probation for something? Sorry if I freaked anyone out it was not my intention I just had a minor anxiety attack after hearing this

False. MCW actually recently received the longest accreditation possible at the last LCME visit (valid through '18-'19). The details are here: http://www.lcme.org/directry.htm#Wisconsin

And in case you are curious, you can see the latest status for all MD schools on that page.

We received the maximum possible accreditation in the last cycle. The only thing that I could think that whoever you talked to was referring to was that the LCME did ding us on a few small matters... but it was all pretty trivial stuff like there not being enough locker space on a few rotations. That's all been long ago addressed. The school (like every school) takes the LCME seriously.

i think ive also heard about what 1289 was referring to from some current students - nothing major, just some changes the school had to make when they got re-accredited in 2011? anyways, what I came on here to ask was if any current students have an opinion on if it's a bad idea to live alone first year? by "bad" i mean "socially isolating", I'm not antisocial but i like my space and have been living with a bunch of roommates for the past few years and I'm ready to be on my own. i of course understand that it would save a lot of money to have a roommate or two but money isn't a huge concern for me. would appreciate some input on this, thank you!

Hi Everyone, have any of you that were accepted last Friday via email (2/22) received your acceptance letter in the mail yet?

Hi
Do any current students know if MCW gives out any scholarships in their financial aid packages or is it all loans?

On the interview day, although kind of eerie, they pretty much all but said it directly that no one would be getting any kind of substantial aid. That's one of the big turnoffs about the school. I thoroughly enjoyed my interview there and loved what the school had to offer, but money-wise, they really fall short. Hopefully they were yanking our chains and end up giving out money like hotcakes. Only then will those butterflies come back 😛

I thought that as well but I saw online that 58% of students get scholarships or grants.Or is that Wisconsin Scholarship for in-state students driving their numbers up?
