Yup. That's the time stamp on mine.
Thanks...Congratulations!.....I guess I missed the boat
[Edit] That was me trying to catch the attention of the captain..hopefully he will turn the boat around and let me get on for the ride.

No email or decision link on app portal here. I wonder what that means :/
Well, if it's like NYU, they are going to send out waitlists and rejections a day or two after the acceptances. We'll see what happens though.

I received my waitlist email the same day as everyone else who was accepted.

Did anyone who was accepted so far not get the email at 11:08? That is, does anyone know if they all came at the same time, or do I still have hope?

Also rejected. Congrats to those accepted and best of luck to all!!

Something incredibly strange just occurred. I read a rejection email. I was really sad and went back to the website and now its an alternate list email. I guess it's better than a flat out rejection.

Waitlist.
While the uncertainty sucks, I'm grateful for the possibility of still getting in.

Hopkins seems like the kind of school with minimal waitlist movement, though. Anyone have specific numbers about this?

That's odd. I have not received an email, but a waitlist letter was on the website.

I read somewhere that last year had movement of around 40. What am more curious about is how many people they put on the wait list.

sorry i didn't mean email. i meant status. but i swear i read the rejection status. but now its an alternate list status. i hope it doesn't change back lol

Rejected just now. Interviewed mid november, 3.8+/35. Not surprised, because my interview was hilariously bad.

They just posted on Facebook that it's around 50 accepted off the waitlist
Good to know! Thanks.
Any info on how many people are on their waitlist? Someone in a 2008 forum said 200, without citing anything...

Does anyone know when they start accepting people off the wait list? I hate the uncertainty though 🙁, but its still better than a flat out rejection. I really hope they don't have 200 people on the wait list. that's incredibly high and just gives people unnecessary hope.

Rejected. So today is shaping up to be a swell day.
Same. Heard back from three med schools today and didn't get good news from any of them. At least we have Superbowl Sunday to look forward to.

I think I read somewhere that Johns Hopkins does an unranked waitlist--meaning that whenever someone who was accepted walks away, they look for someone with similar qualities (and not necessarily the "best" qualified candidate) to replace them. Thus, they need a diverse waitlist pool (making it large).

It looks like for the past two years waitlist movement has started in late May (~May 20th?).

Late May? Four more months of Winter for me 🤢 On the 'unranked waitlist', your comment makes sense to me; but the letter states that 'Unfortunately, we are not able to tell you your rank on the list'. It seems to imply that there is ranking. Whatever the case it might be, that is out of our control. Good luck!

Okay WTF now I'm on the wait list. WEIRD. Nice, but I just got done telling my family I was rejected...and now my letter says I'm on the wait list...

Not to impart any false hope but some of y'all might want to double check. I had first looked at my decision information before I got the actual email. This is def a different letter in the hyperlink now.

same thing happened to me :/

Does this mean that all applicants interviewed and not accepted are on the waitlist? Are there any 'final' rejections?

If that's the case there will be a massive wait list...JH interviews over 700 applicants for a class of 120. On the plus side tho, it would mean no rejection letters ;o)

If that's the case, I'll rather have a rejection letter. I don't like them teasing me if there's no hope. Could someone confirm if JH send post interview rejection letters?

Check out the dec 13 post on the JHUSOM admissions Facebook page. They reference sending out post interview rejections in addition to wait list notifications and acceptances.

Not to rub salt in the wound, @Underu, but is there any chance you could re-confirm the decision they sent you, in light of the fact that at least a couple rejections have transformed into WL spots?

Someone earlier in the thread was rejected post-interview in the December wave.

This is all very strange.

Also from the Facebook:

Johns Hopkins School of Medicine said:
...we accept maybe 200 initially and back-fill using the waiting list, for at most 250 (that includes MD/PhD admits) for a class of 120.

Just posting to confirm that my rejection is permanent. Don't know what the breakdown is, but I will assume roughly half the candidates are accepted or waitlisted and the rest rejected.

You think this is over Hopkins? I will be back for residency, I WILL make you love me.

Rejected.... 🙁 and it's permanent. Good luck to the rest of you.

Does anyone know how many people were cut during the last wave of rejections? I'm trying to figure out if I need to start making contingency plans.

Thanks to anyone who can help! 🙂

Always have contingency plans. Even for ridiculously qualified applicants, nothing is ever certain. If you don't have an acceptance in hand at this point, or at least multiple interviews at schools where your stats are competitive, you need to be game-planning the next admissions cycle.

Congrats to those who were accepted!!!

I just have a questions about the interview season at Hopkins. Didn't Hopkins pushed their deadline to a later date due to the delay at AMCAS? Does it mean they are still sending out II at this point?

Let me throw some unconfirmed numbers gathered from previous posts and my guesstimate. Do you think these numbers even close? If not, welcome to change them.

Interviewed: 760
As of now: Accepted: 200 Waitlisted: 180 Rejected: 380
By May: 50 more Accepted off waitlist
potentially Enrolled: 120; 80 (off Accepted) + 40 (off Waitlist)

Someone just reported getting an II last week. If Hopkins does over-accept, I doubt they've ALREADY over-accepted at this point, so 200 accepted as of now sounds high.

(This is at least partially wishful thinking on my part, as I'm holding out hope for an II and don't want to be interviewing for a waitlist spot.)

Want to share what these guesstimates are based on?

Mostly the front part of 'guesstimates' 🙂 just hope to solicit some more informed opinion and get a perspective of where we stand...btw, I am on waitlist

Here's to movement in May.

I have an interview in two days so I'm hoping they aren't all filled up...anyone else on SDN interviewing there later?

My interview is for next Thursday, the 13th. Personally I think the whole concept of interviewing-for-the-waitlist is pretty silly and I'd like to think it doesn't exist, but I guess there isn't really a way to know for sure. Though I would find it hard to believe that they (or any school) have already accepted all the people they want to accept at this point.

Interviewing for the waitlist actually does exist. In fact, if you check out Medical College of Wisconsin thread, some people received IIs the past few days to interview for the waitlist. Haha

Ah, well they decided to reject me pre-interview so I wouldn't know about that. 😛 In any case, I still stand by my statement that the concept is a silly one haha.

Didn't you say they invited you for an interview before (on the 13th)? Did they just change their minds, or were you just messing with us earlier? haha

I did indeed receive an interview invite to Hopkins: on January 27th for February 13th, as I said. @premed2000 referenced MCW's thread with regard to interviewing for the waitlist - MCW rejected me pre-interview so that's what I was referring to in the first sentence.

hey SDN, I received a II from JHU 2 days ago (Completed on Nov 14th). I was in absolute shock. This is going to by my first med school interview. I am a Canadian applicant and I did not expect anything from US schools at all. Do you guys have any advice on how to get prepared for my interview at JHU? (or any med school interview for that matter lol).
Do they tell you who your interviewer is in advance? Also do they put international students in a separate pool? if they do, does it mean my chances are higher or lower post-interview? I looked at the stats on MSAR from last year and it seems like out of the 22 international applicants that they interviewed, 9 of them matriculated. The optimist in me wants to believe that this ratio is the same every year.
