How did you guys interpret the area of medicine question? Private practice versus academic medicine etc or a specialty? Thanks!

I did a bit of both - talking about some areas that I know I want to explore further while realizing that I need a lot more exposure to know for sure, and then I talked about how and why I see myself working at a teaching hospital and not in pp.

Any idea of what to expect on interview day? I have mine coming up this week.

Had an good interview experience and am looking forward to hearing back from Hopkins in December!

Hey peeps! Currently a first year here at Hopkins! Cannot state how much I love the environment and the people here. Please let me know if you have any questions...I will try to help. Also, admissions is not perfect, but they are doing an amazing job considering all that they must do.

So...just relax and enjoy the ride!

Another thing, best way to reach me is via PM

just got an interview invite! Humbled with the opportunity to check out such a historic school.

Got invited today literally DURING another med school interview! Hahah

Whoa! II today. Very excited and glad that I decided to apply here! What an incredible opportunity.

I didn't even get an II (yet? :xf:) but got a post-interview questionnaire... did anyone get this too?

Yep; I got one just now. My heart jumped when i saw an e-mail from "somadmiss."

Oh, the inhumanity. Lol.

Yes just got an email for thanking me for accepting an interview but I never got one! Assuming this is a mistake?

Got one as well, I'm sure I would have enjoyed my day at Hopkins had I been invited! lol 🙁

I'm just hoping they won't be so cruel as to send out rejection emails later today.

I had a bit of a different experience from most of the previous posters here about that email. I was already invited for an interview a few days ago but don't have it until October. When I got that email, first thing I thought was "OH NOOO THEY'RE GONNA TAKE IT BACK!!!!"
hahahah

Complete: 8/18 II: 9/25 and scheduled for the 25th.

Did you receive the accidental email and then get the II? Just trying to figure out what the email meant!

Hi Fellow Hopkins Hopefuls!

I am trying to gauge whether I should call admissions and check on the status of my application (I seem to be asking this about a number of schools...please forgive my anxiety....) I submitted my secondary and got my "Thanks for your secondary!" email on Sept.12, however I have not yet received a "You're complete!" email. I admit I don't have much of an idea of the expected time scale from secondary to completion. Does anyone have any advice? Is it reasonable that I haven't been deemed complete yet? Or is this something that I should look into? Has anyone else who submitted around the same time as me heard back yet?

Thanks for your help and advice!

Based on the previous posts and my experience, it seems like it takes 2-3 weeks to receive the complete email.

I submitted my secondary on July 24th and my committee letter came in on August 21st -- Hopkins sent my "you're complete" email on September 13th. They might be manually marking applications complete or notifying applicants only when they get to your file (who knows?), but in any case I wouldn't worry just yet 👍

I submitted my secondary in the early teens of August and I only got the complete email on September 16th, more than a month later!

So I guess we just wait and wait and wait and....😴

Pretty much you just have to wait. I was submitted my secondary 8/11 but didn't get the "you're complete" email until a couple weeks ago, and just today received an II. They're just taking their time using their own system so you just have to sit tight for a bit. Hopefully good news will come your way!

Thanks, guys! That makes me feel much better to have an idea of the timeline. (I mean, the waiting is no picnic, but at least I know it's within reason, which means I can better focus my freaking out on other, more appropriate, areas. 😀 ) Thanks for the insight!

P.S Narmerguy -thanks to your reply as well! You posted your reply just as I did. We clearly have ESP. Congrats on your II!

Hi,

I recently got an interview invite from Johns Hopkins with a specific interview date. I realized that I have a midterm on that date so I was wondering if it's better to try to reschedule my midterm or if I can ask Johns Hopkins to reschedule my interview. I am extremely interested in JH and don't want them to think that I am not interested. I was wondering if any of you have asked JH to reschedule and how that worked out.

Thank you!

They let me reschedule, but your new date is your last offer. I made a proposal if a new date and they gave it to me, they were very friendly!

Have II's been coming via email or phone call? I missed a call from a Baltimore area code, but no one left a message. When I call back the line just rings and rings.....

They sent mine via email. I haven't received a call from admissions.

DaenarysDuhh, thank you so much for your answer. I switched it to another date.

Yes, only the other way around. I received my interview invite a day before an email confirming that my application was complete and under review, haha. Before that, the only other email I received was one that said my supplemental had been submitted.

Mine was an email, but perhaps they do phone calls, too. I hope you're able to connect with the office soon!

Rejected Oct. 11, complete Sept. 25.
3.7 cGPA and sGPA, 41 (14/14/13) MCAT, trad applicant from HYP

A little sad, but wishing everyone else the best of luck!

Sorry for that =[ Did the rejection come by email? I was complete a day before you, just seeing if I should brace myself lol..

My sincere apologies if this is legit... But I would be hesitant to trust that someone's first post on SDN would be on a top tier school specific discussion stating that they got rejected pre-interview with a 41 and 3.7 GPA. it just seems too trolly for me to take without a large grain of salt.

That said, I wish schools would give me an update already so I don't explode :scared: haha
