Did anyone just get an email saying they passed the primary screen? ... It's February.. I thought I was passed that like 5 months ago

You are like me last cycle. I received the same email last cycle from them around this time as well.
 
Just got small pooled. I wonder what the chances of getting an interview are considering it's so late in the cycle.
 
Second look day on March 1st.

Is it worthwhile to attend as I need to fly from NY?

What day was your interview? I had mine on the 10th of Jan. and am waiting eagerly for the result.

Hi guys,

I have an interview here next Wednesday (the 12th), and I was wondering what to wear in terms of winter clothes. I'm coming from California and ill-prepared for snowy conditions. I checked the weather report and it should be around 23 degrees with 10% chance of snow, but who knows what could happen a week from now.

I don't have anything crazy heavy, just a snowboarding jacket (no inner shell) and a scarf. Do people just bundle up over their suit and then take everything off once they get inside? What about going out for the tour? Am I going to slip and break my collarbone if I wear regular dress shoes (mine have leather soles)?

Hey!! I bet you graduated from Cal too!!
I had my interview here last month and I was in the same boat as you. I didn't know what appropriate to wear. Anyways, just wear a coat outside. You will end up hanging it in the closet once you get inside. So anything is fine, keep yourself warm!! The tour is in the building so no need to worry.

You'll be fine with the coat you have. Bring your scarf and gloves. And normal dress shoes are fine. They should have the streets/sidewalks plowed and salted. Good luck!

Thanks, both of you! Yep, go Bears (how about that win against #1 Arizona??)!

I was debating whether or not I should wear long underwear, since otherwise I'd just be wearing my suit pants, but I think I'm going to try and avoid swampleg during my actual interview.

On another note, I have a hotel reservation and a car rented (I'm over 25), so if anyone interviewing on the 12th wants to share a room/car, lemme know!
 
Small pooled this afternoon. I can't help but wonder just how small this alleged pool is haha.

just sayin, if there's any sort of ice or snow on the ground, those leather soles are going to send you flying. If all is salted and completely clear, you'll be good though

It should be a fun event, but don't stress out if you can't attend. It's an optional chance to get a second chance to look at our school, so if you can't make it, enjoy the money you're saving! You're already accepted, there's no need to go to be polite or to make your face known to faculty; if you come here, they'll get to know you next year.

but in terms of the overall selection process, are applicants from a range of dates ranked and selected? (e.g. for each 12-day period, choose the top 4 interviewees)? can you shed some more light on this, @tantacles ?

No. I have no idea. Only the admissions committee knows how that works. I told you all I know.

I've heard that those scores are put into a computer and an algorithm is used to choose who is accepted.

I've heard that once a month, the admissions committee puts five live horses into a blender, dumps out the contents, and sees whose name is spelled out by the ground entrails. Those candidates are put on the fast track to faculty. The rest just have to sit through a blind process of medical school application.

Well a lot of times the entrails aren't quite legible. You must not forget about the role of the admissions fortune tellers that do a fair bit of translating those entrails into English!
 
Interview invite today! Was small-pooled late January. 32 3.6 OOS, interview dates from Feb 19th to March 10th. I was a late applicant (most apps complete between late Sept to mid-November) and I've had the bulk of my II's in the past three weeks, so keep the faith everyone! Also FYI I was about to send an update, but got the II before I got a chance to. ^_^'

Also received an II today (OOS, 3.7, 35)! Starmie, we seem to be on a similar timeline.
Secondary submitted: 10/26, complete: 11/18
Small-pooled: 1/27

This may be a silly question, but do we just reply to the invite email with the available dates ranked in order of preference?

First off congrats on II!!! Did you send in any updates post-secondary or letters of interest after being small pooled?
 
Interviewed 11/22....still not even an update, hold, wait list, acceptance, or rejection. Anyone else in the same (~12 week) no response category? I sent an email asking for an approximate timeline and got the answer of "sometime soon hopefully."

Thank you!! No I did not. I saw earlier in this thread that they weren't receptive to updates or letters of interest, but I'm not 100% sure.
 
That's strange to me. When I interviewed, we were given a pretty firm timetable. They said we should definitely hear back within 4-8 weeks of the interview , and I received my acceptance about 6 weeks after mine.

Any updates on the probation situation? I know that the RFU administration submitted a final report to LCME on December 16th, but there haven't been any updates since. I somehow got the impression that LCME would say something in February, but I may be mistaken.

On the website it says that 100% of the issues have been addressed already, which seems super fast to me. Doesn't it usually take about a year for all the issues to be addressed?

On another note, I read through the entire final report...and none of the issues are really worrisome. Some technicalities about whether or not "lecturers" were considered faculty or not, a lack of a diversity policy, having objectives for every course and clerkship, some confusion about what the Educational Affairs Committee does, and a lack of storage space (lockers) at a couple of rotation sites. Nothing that couldn't be easily fixed.
 
Do they send out a bulk of acceptance in one day? I am four weeks into my wait (post-interview) and I am not sure when I will find out. So nerve-racking to wait, but its even worst when you don't know when the result will be announced.

or, they could have lost your application, which means you should definitely contact them asap. :scared:

We've addressed all the issues in our report. However, keep in mind that a report is still just that: A report. It's unlikely that we'll see the LCME say, "everything's fine, guys!" When they report (keep in mind that we're still in early February). It's far more likely that they'll say, "Thanks for addressing our concerns! We're going to keep you on probation for a little longer so that we can watch you and make sure that you weren't just telling us what we want to hear!"

So no, there haven't been any updates on the probation situation, but the administration is asking students for a lot of feedback.

It's neither good news nor bad news; it's no news. Don't extrapolate.
 
I just got my acceptance email today!! Interviewed 11/20. 3.9 GPA/32 MCAT. Reapplicant.
 
I'm confused with how CMS sending out their emails…do they pick a couple each day and then send them out throughout the month or did majority of the decision for this block come out yesterday??

No one knows that except the admissions committee and admissions staff.
